26th January 2024 at 6:57 pm #212211Joking aside, my agenda is not about Spurs. Given the choice, I’d sooner them or Villa win the league this season out of any of the contenders, if you can call them that.
My agenda is with the media and the modern fan with this phenomenon of going completely overboard about managers after a few months. “Never mind trophies, how much possession does his team have?! How many passes per game do they have?”

26th January 2024 at 7:20 pm #212213Agree, It happens all the time ed. players have a good 3 months and they are unreal.6 months later they are being sold for been rubbish
The media over hype things then write good player off just as quick if they have a bad 6 months. Players and managers need to be consistent for a good while before they can fully judged as top class or whatever.

26th January 2024 at 7:23 pm #212214Why I say Ange Ed is because I think he’s actually got the criteria to work well at a big club. He’s clearly a very good man manager and communicator, and he’s clearly a big personality with the fans. Those attributes go a long way for me and are Klopp like attributes. I concede tactically is where I would worry a bit but with our fans behind him I just think it could work well. There may not be as many CL finals but he could do a good job for a few seasons while we potentially found someone better. I’d still probably favour Alonso because there would be that fear of him going somewhere else and lighting up the world, and he’s always had that demeanour that he could be a good manager one day. Might be a touch soon for him but if he’s good enough, he’s good enough.

26th January 2024 at 7:48 pm #212216I get all that Mikus. I just think it’s a big gamble to give him his first shot at a really big club based off a decent start. In comparison to what Ange is doing, Alonso is doing the unthinkable in his first season by looking like he’ll actually not only win a trophy but break what is an unrivalled spell of dominance in Europe at Bayern. He’s arguably got as much big team experience as Ange already and will probably get a big, notable trophy before Ange and Ange has almost 20 years more in the game.

26th January 2024 at 7:52 pm #212217Mikus, I just hope the club don’t fall into a position where they’re changing Manager after Manager after Manager. Saw a Headline on the BBC Website with a Photo quite simply encapsulated everything about Jurgen was his hand placed on his Heart.
We needed this man looking back before his time.
We’re going to need that type of Manager. He’s just a stand out and irreplaceable.

26th January 2024 at 7:55 pm #212218Unai I thought of Ed, just on the back of a few of your replies. I think it takes somebody with experience and achievement, plus somebody with a very good tactical knowledge when needed to adapt.

26th January 2024 at 7:59 pm #212219Emery clearly a very good manager, I just don’t know if he’s one of those better suited to more of a chasing pack club than an established club. I’m not sure he has the personality for a big big club.

26th January 2024 at 8:17 pm #212226I suspect the same re Emery Mikus. I’ve often thought the same of Poch though when he was touted for the big jobs.

26th January 2024 at 10:34 pm #212254The reason is infinite money that a certain manager is chocolate too. What Pep wants Pep gets. It is the Manager.
Manchester United 10 years in search. How much money thrown???? Old Trafford a Dump and in need of Cleansing!!!!!
Klopp is beyond Grey Hair and Health Stress. 18 1 Lost Nothing. LIVERPOOL won clear on Manchester City of 18 Points during Covid 2020.
1 point not reached in Pep’s 100 points but we made it. KLOPP doesn’t have it sadly in him to keep doing this over and over and over again. π―β½οΈβ€

28th January 2024 at 3:15 am #212265Jesus, don’t tell me Klopp is going to Barca.
I just remembered there a few mins ago that Klopp is leaving. It is the worst thing that’s happened to us for as long as I’ve been a fan.
The clubs revenue has already been smashed to pieces, with Spurs catching up with us and other passing us out. The lack of CL football this season will have cratered it too, so will we be able to spend as much as will be needed in order to give the new manager the players that he needs?
If Klopps backroom staff are leaving with him then he already has a job lined up. They wont all be taking a year off. So this Barca news is kinda depressing. Maybe at this stage in his life he just wants a change to a nicer climate, with Barca in need of a rebuild.
Meh. It’;s all bad.

28th January 2024 at 10:48 am #212269Ya Sean. I think we’ve got to win the PL while we can. We won’t get another chance
This is why Klopp is leaving IMO.
