Guys, anyone watched him live.
His stats are simply outrageous. From a right back, he has 14 assists and two goals and is one of the tightest defences in top flight european football.
Is it down to the dyke in the middle or is his game so good he can simply park up the pitch and ping balls into the area?
Is there a winger or forward in Europe who has done better than Liverpool’s right back this season? He’s bettered his stats on last season with less minutes. I’m struggling to name someone. Which means how long before Real Madrid start sniffing about?

A lot of it does come down to Van Dijk and Gomez’s ability to defend and also speed and game sense, to cover for players going forward and Klopp has Robertson and Trent essentially playing as wingers who also defend. The midfield drop wide to cover and mane also helps with a lot of the defensive duties on the left.
People talk about putting Trent into midfield, like that would be getting the best use out of him. There’s no position to put him in this team though where he is more influential. The fullback positions used to be the weakest part of most teams. It’s arguably the most important Klopp’s Liverpool side.
Trent could improve defensively but what himself and Robertson offer us going forward, means that teams struggle to park the bus. They just get bombed out of it, usually.

442…he is very good but remember this is really his first season as a regular I think and what he needs now is consistency for the next few seasons then undoubtably he will one of the best players in the world in that position, in my opinion. Of course RM and others will come after him, that is football to day and the player himself may well want a new “challenge” as they saying goes now. For now he is Liverpools player and they have a gem

Nine, you might well be right. Liverpool’s fullbacks are absolutely amazing because of how they fit into our system. if England played the same way then it’d be no contest but if they play a more traditional setup (likely to carry on this way) then maybe they’d prefer someone a bit better defensively. I’m not knocking Trents ability to defend, he’s pretty good now but there are better out there in that regard.
and ya Brian, Trent has been a regular for ages now. He’s young but surprisingly experienced.

OK…I did not release he was in the first team that long but I guess it is this season he has improved the most, as you say, probably the influence of van Dyke has helped

He does make you think though that to be that creative from his position, flinging in the champ league and pl, Southgate has to set his side up accordingly doesn’t he? Is Trent so dangerous offensively that England should play to his strengths?
