james looked like a good addition against us mav, but dismiss him if you wish. You cant argue that your transfers may not work out here because the same could be said about arsenals signings. only time will tell. and yes you have massive problems moving players on, but that was caused by many bad decisions in previous windows and silly contracts, but that doesnt matter as we are talking about this window. imo the profile of player you have brought in this summer suggests utd have adapted their thinking for the better. Should have signed fernandes too though and I understand if you are underwhelmed.

20th August 2019 at 6:25 pm #45987“And yes,RB wanted close to £90m”
That’s why it went no further Mav, Arsenal didn’t have the budget.
I could show an interest in buyinh a Bugatti La Voiture Noire at £14.4 million but I don’t have enough money in the Bank to buy it.?

20th August 2019 at 8:25 pm #459909-but £55m for an 20 yrs old ,unknown player means there was money. However, every club has a red line when it comes to the prices.
LD-I much rather have James than Sanchez, and agree about the planning @ the club.Hope they keep it like this._____________________________

20th August 2019 at 8:31 pm #45991Mav, I don’t believe Arsenal bid £55m for the player certainly not outright it was beyond their budget which as Stevo has pointed out was amplified by their buy now pay later strategy.
I could make an offer on the Bugatti but the funds aren’t in the Bank to buy it!?

20th August 2019 at 8:38 pm #459929-We might not believe it but media in Germany do,and yes,it was to sign him this year but to loan him straight back.It didnt mentioned the details of payment-it could have been to pay the sum for the duration of the contract.Btw,both United & Arse got turned down by WHU for Issa Diop because neither were prepared to match the £75m they wanted for him.

20th August 2019 at 8:48 pm #45995Mav, I think this is probably more rumour than fact and I think it would be dangerous for Arsenal to get into hock with too many buy now pay later schemes as ultimately it could be problematical to them to manage going forwards.
Fact is if Arsenal tried to sign the player they couldn’t and if they did actually bid £55m however they were going to pay for it it was significantly below RB’s valuation of the player.
Putting all that aside Arsenal have done very well in the Summer transfer market and managed their transfer budget which it is suggested was £45m very well.

20th August 2019 at 10:59 pm #46004But did he go to Arsenal Mav and did Arsenal have the funds to buy him. The answer to both questions is no.

21st August 2019 at 6:35 am #46006lucky, with regards to Pepe, it was just my opinion that he is exactly the right player for pool
they have the best fornt 3 yes but they play and have played so many games, injuries and tiredness kick in, city manage to keep them all happy..i think he is one player who would have strengthened them for all comps conciderably
these are the sort of signings i mean like when city got Mahrez…its strength in depth and having quality everywhere

21st August 2019 at 9:39 am #460189-But thats a different question, same as City didnt buy Maguire.Arse thought he wasnt worth the £90m RB demanded and walked away from the deal.

21st August 2019 at 10:44 am #46019mav its speculation, maybe arsenal could afford but didnt see value, maybe they just couldnt afford, the only fact though is that in reality they opted for a cheap 8m short term fix that may not fix anything. I feel for 8m signing luiz is a no brainer, but it is a world apart from the level of business that has been speculated and repeated by yourself.

21st August 2019 at 11:09 am #46023it sure is lucky but as reigning CL and SC winners there would never have been a better time for Pool to pick up 1 or 2 key players to bolster the squad, they chose not to and i think ultimately it will not only cost them this season but be a detriment for coming seasons
same with you guys and the enforced ban, but theres was voluntary!
as for my lot, long long way to go but at least the green shoots are starting to show, will they wither and die or grow?
we shall see!

21st August 2019 at 11:18 am #46025time will tell stevo, but even if they did what you said it is almost certain they would not improve on 97 points and a CL. I am simply trusting pools strategy and decisions over yours because they have been faultless in the market since klopp arrived, and their remarkable achiements last year were achieved because of their great coach and nous in the market, not conventional wisdom.

21st August 2019 at 11:20 am #46026we shall see come the end of the season Lucky but for me they wont do as well as last year and are weaker now than then
they do this often, get so close then dont invest and start over building up and so on and so forth
we shall see, hopefully we can take some points of them or at least avoid another cricket score loss!

21st August 2019 at 11:36 am #46029like i said stevo, they are destined to do worse than 97 points and winning CL in 99.9% of all parallel universes regardless of whether they added depth to squad in the summer or not. Come on stevo, arsenal have one decent window in a decade and you are praising kroenke and criticising pool who have been the best in the market for years?

21st August 2019 at 11:44 am #46031im not really criticising them per say, i just feel that they should have built on the momentum and hard work of last year and still believe there are players in world football that would have improved them and come to them……and they are worse by not strengthening from last year IMHO, doesnt mean they are rubbish but instead of moving on they are treading water and IMHO it (could) cost them…
they are 1 or 2 injuries away from being fairly average, if 1 or more of the front 3 are out for a significant amount of time…..losing Sane for a few months would be bad, had they been able to replace him with a Pepe or someone then less of an impact….
not rocket science and not an anti pool agenda i just feel that when things are going well its dangerous to leave them be
that squad have had no rest now for a couple of years and played a huge number of games…

21st August 2019 at 11:45 am #46032Mav, their pockets were empty mate otherwise they would have gone for a younger and a sounder defensively option than Luiz.
