Mak, it was all a wind up by Jose and he’s clearly a bit concerned about not only chasing City but Liverpool too plus he’s trying to send a message to Woodward imo too.
I enjoyed Klopp’s response “I heard as well that Jose found me funny and one of my biggest goals in life is to make Jose smile! It doesn’t happen too often and if it happens because of Liverpool – well done!”
If Jose doesn’t make progress at United this season he could well be gone but he’s got more money than he could ever spend and it wouldn’t be the first time he’s been sacked ultimately all the top Managers are in danger of being sacked if they fail to deliver.
At Chelsea they are even in danger of being sacked if they do deliver.?
It’s going to be a really exciting season imo enjoy it. Cheers 999

28th July 2018 at 11:31 pm #24614AnonymousMak – a 9 would be world class and have him up there with the best in the world. I would give Kane and salah a 9. I wouldnβt say Robertson is as good at left back as they are in their respective positions. He has the potential to improve but I think at the moment a 7 is fair.

29th July 2018 at 9:34 am #24623Paxton, canβt dusagree with any of that
Spurs will be well up there. They have a team that has played consistently well together
Who knows how Liverpoolβs signings are going to fair.
No way do I think we will be mikes ahead of anyone. City will run away with it and the other 5 be neck and neck

29th July 2018 at 2:27 pm #24637Think Spurs will do ok this season but will be disrupted in their first 6 games by using Wembley and switching home and away games – it could stop them building momentum. It affected Liverpool when they just swapped two matches.
Liverpool & Spurs were pretty even last season, with spurs just nipping ahead at the end as Liverpool were distracted preparing for the CL final. So far Liverpool have spent big, and how long it takes them to gel is critical. Not sure if spurs look like doing any business yet but a couple of signings would help.
The first 6-8 games are critical for both clubs for different reasons

29th July 2018 at 3:39 pm #24643Initially I think it will be Allison and Keita who start for Liverpool and given one is a Keeper I can’t see that being too much of a problem for Liverpool in the early games in terms of team cohesion. Be tough for anyone to catch City though.

30th July 2018 at 9:09 am #24648Agree, city are ahead of most teams still, but hopefully they will keep sterling and play him then the rest have a chance ?
Think Fabinho will also start
I see the midfield three as Fabinho Keita and Henderson. The front three picks itself but I think Sturridge will maybe start until Bobby Firmino is fit, as he isnβt back yet and didnβt play much in the World Cup_____________________________

30th July 2018 at 10:32 am #24654Beni, you could also say as long as Firminio plays for Liverpool the rest have a chance in the PL!?

30th July 2018 at 10:36 am #24655Looks like the beginning of the end for Jose at United although a couple of top transfers over the next 10 days could turn his mood and United’s chances around yet. But it’s a massive challenge trying to finish above this City team.

30th July 2018 at 11:15 am #24658Jim, I think Jose’s main problem is that he doesn’t feel he’s been backed in the transfer market this Summer by the club a couple of signings if they were the right signings rather than just fillers could brighten his mood and improve United’s chancss this Season although I suspect finishing above City will still be beyond them.

30th July 2018 at 11:58 am #24659But Jim, Firmino is good. He is the most important player in our style of play.
Sterling looks like he won a raffle to play with the other guys at City.Anyway, letβs hope Jose stays – the implosion is real

30th July 2018 at 12:05 pm #24662Says a lot about Maureen, that most of us are licking our lips along with a raspberry magnum, about the impending implosion in the red half of Essex. Certainly distracting me from the Mysterious Case of the Levy And His Invisible Wallet.

No idea why he puts his own players down all the time

30th July 2018 at 3:02 pm #24683Yeah I’d be very surprised if he hasn’t engineered his own exit before Christmas. He’s making all the same noises he usually does before it all inevitably implodes. I think we’re in line for a bit of a barren run again. I’d actually be ok with that as long as we built the club back up again with an identity which we have lacked since the big man stepped down.
All that said, the club’s demise is, as always, very much exaggerated. We’ve just finished second above probably the best sides both Spurs and Liverpool have had for a long time and won a couple of trophies only the previous year. Yes we’ve spent a lot of money but on an awful lot of rubbish. I’d still challenge anyone to pick more Utd players than Liverpool or Spurs players in a combined best XI from either of the sides.
It’s inevitably going to end badly and I think Jose could do with a Guardiola-esque sabbatical and get out and just watch football again, fall in love with it again. Rediscover that charm he had in his early management career.
For all his critics, he’s an extremely good football manager and his trophy haul speaks for itself. The only person who can rival his trophy haul is Pep and there will always be question marks around whether or not Pep could do what Jose did with an unfancied side like Inter or Porto.

Agree with that Ed.
Plenty will take pleasure from the current situation but I’m sad to see it all unravelling again for him albeit unsurprised though having lived through almost 7 years of his tenures I know he’s far from perfect but you can’t argue with what he’s won.
Massive job taking on United with their ambitions with Pep in Manchester and this City team and where do United go from here if it all ends as we think it might there’s no obvious replacement.. Cheers 999
