NB, I blame 9 totally (only joking 9) he knows my lyric addiction, and I just couldnβt help my self, looked at the thread title and thought Magic Bus by the Who was more apt. Sorry if you thought I was trivialising your thread, but youβll get used to me throwing in the odd lyric or quote to try and lighten the mood….Pagan

27th January 2018 at 9:49 am #13855Nil-Just a game my friend, just a game I say.Like we all agreed already=they are all asshats, every single one of them! What do you reckon will happen,if they are all asked to manage/play for nothing, just out of the respect and love for the game? Screw Jose and all the rest after him mate!

27th January 2018 at 1:33 pm #13859Pagan, I take full responsibility mate. ?
Here’s a little story for you about the early Who.
A really good mate of mine went to School with Entwhistle and Townsend in Acton and was the Drummer in the original High Numbers which became the Detours which became the Who his Father worked for Walls and he was moved to Gloucester so he had to give up his place in the band what might have been had that not happened eh.
He remained close to John Entwhistle until his death and still sees Townsend and was in Townsend’s Autobiography he actually made their first ever recording on his Open Reel. Wonder what that recording might be worth now.
He’s continued to play the Drums but hasn’t played for a while I was with him at Christmas time and he’s just getting back to playing the drums again.
Maybe a tour with the Who beckons.? Cheers 999

27th January 2018 at 1:52 pm #13864The Who still touring??? I went to their last ever gig at the NEC in 1982
Funny things bands, itβs the chemistry between the members that makes them, and you have to admit Moon was a character, also managing to jump on the mod bandwagon helped them a lot….Pagan

27th January 2018 at 1:55 pm #13865I’m with Pagan on this one about parking the bus. There’s a time and place for it. To set your team up defensively is a legitimate tactic.
Why would you try to outplay an opponent if you know they’re technically superior? When Chelsea won the CL in 2012 they certainly parked the bus against Barcelona at their place. And they did it brilliantly. It was truly a great performance in my opinion.

27th January 2018 at 2:24 pm #13869srd, there are some teams that if you try and play open and their way you’re going to get stuffed one of those teams was Barca and still will be come February probably too.
Looking forward to it but with a bit of trepidation if we have our best eleven and play to our best we’ve got a little bit of a chance though. Cheers 999

27th January 2018 at 2:32 pm #138709, been to quite a few last ever tours, that have turned out to be not what it said on the tin, The Who in 82, Quo in 84, are probably the most notable for the amount of touring theyβve done since. Conversely who knew that both Zep and Queen at Knebworth would be those bands βproperβ final gigs. Yes Zep played live aid and the O2 with Jason on Drums, and Queen have since toured with Rogers and Lambert, but you get what I mean…Pagan

27th January 2018 at 2:40 pm #13871Never liked Pete Townsend since he was caught paying for child pornography. And the establishment gave him a slap on the wrist. His lame excuse was he was researching a book. Strangely it never got written once he got let off.

27th January 2018 at 2:46 pm #13872AnonymousIt was even worse that that Jim.
He got off because when questioned why he paid for the internet sites membership fee for 8 years, he said he didnβt notice the charge on his credit card as he is so rich he had no need to open his credit card bill.
The old bill could not prove otherwise.

27th January 2018 at 2:49 pm #13873Pagan, I saw both Queen with Freddie and Quo quite a few times. Queen were unbelievable live and Freddie had the audience in the palms of his hand. Quo were always great fun. Sadly I never got to see Zep live but I have seen Jimmy Page live at Wembley Arena. Fantastic Guitarist.

27th January 2018 at 2:58 pm #13876Queen were fantastic live, Freddie had stage presence, there are a few with that strange ability. Quo live in their heyday were always a good night out. Only saw Zep the once, and was slightly disappointed to be honest, however not long after Bonhams death Plant and Page played together in a local music venue/pub, no Zep material, just bluesy stuff, now that was a good gig….Pagan

27th January 2018 at 4:15 pm #13878Very odd Alfie, to join any such internet paid membership illegal or otherwise I would have thought you would have had to enter your credit card details? My mate an ex met copper has hinted of a high level cover up of such unsavoury things. Might be a case of who you know and what you know about them that keeps certain people from jail. Such is life.βΉ

27th January 2018 at 5:11 pm #13882Mac, one of the biggest regrets of my life mate never seeing the Beatles play live saw them plenty of times at Twickenham and Teddington Studios but that might have been more and meeting life it girls as much as about the Beatles.
One of my close friends saw them play live but he said you could hardly hear a thing due to the poor amplification and all the girls screaming.
Seen McCartney live though and he was great.

27th January 2018 at 5:15 pm #13885Jim, thatβll be me then, I will say that hitchhiking down to Knebworth with a mate at 14 does get you a damn good talking to by your parents, had the sense to phone them once I was there to let them know where I was.
Too young for the Beatles Mav, but for me out of the big 3 of The Who, The Stones and The Beatles, Iβd put them in that order and Iβve seen two out of three so Iβm happy with that.
…..Pagan
