I don’t want OGS as the interim manager. He didn’t do well at Cardiff, and the Norwegian League is bollocks.
IMO the only reason to point to OGS, even if he’s a legend and a likeable guy, is if you want the comedy that currently is United to continue.
Out of the names mentioned, I’d have Blanc. He knows the club, and he did well at Bordeaux and PSG. He even managed France. He’ll not come in with too much respect for the overpaid primadonna either.
If he does well let him continue. Otherwise I’d love Simeone._____________________________

18th December 2018 at 7:11 pm #29731Simeone has been at Atletico for years which is historically unheard of as that club used to be a madhouse. He’s won titles there. Domestic and European titles. He has created a strong team mentality. Obviously he must be very good at man management. United need someone Who can do what Simeone can do. So get Simeone.

18th December 2018 at 7:30 pm #29732Nobody @ United is gonna respect the baby face assassin in OGS! Conte would tear them twats a new one, which is what they really require.Conte & Keano would get them to playing to their full capacity or they will be shown the door.
27-Who cares about the football being played the United way? Just get them organised as a unit, consolidate that leaking defence-till the end of the season.Playing football United way is long gone, belongs in the past!

18th December 2018 at 7:35 pm #29733Spot on, Mav! They’re never going to play any kind of attractive football before they start to act and see themselves as a team. They need to put the team before themselves. You need someone like Simeone for that to happen.

18th December 2018 at 7:53 pm #29739Mav, Conte wouldn’t come in as an interim Manager if that’s what you’re suggesting you think Conte is suited to managing United I don’t it’s all about opinions mate and it’s the opinions of the Board that will decide it we’ll have to wait and see what happens.

18th December 2018 at 8:02 pm #29743One name hasn’t even been mentioned on this thread yet (or the media in general). The Glazers. They are the owners and are ultimately accountable for the leadership and direction of the club. But they’re too busy milking the commercial revenues of the club. I don’t even think they’re particularly interested in football – there doesn’t seem much evidence of it anyway. Yet they seem to get forgotten about. Bizarre.

18th December 2018 at 8:03 pm #29744AnonymousThe board have made it clear that the interim manager will be steeped in Utd DNA. Conte and Simone are not.
The sad thing is that unless they go for Blanc the interim is a stepping stone and the next manager is likely to be as well as we need to rebuild. Poch can do that, but can he step up too? Zidane is unproven at rebuilding. We are likely to be two full time appointments away. Crazy.

18th December 2018 at 8:48 pm #29748Very true Alfie on all counts. Could be a different set up too with the alleged appointment of a TD.

18th December 2018 at 8:59 pm #29750Express are claiming as are others that an appointment is likely to be confirmed tonight and that it will be Solskjaer assisted by Mike Phelan?

18th December 2018 at 9:11 pm #29751AnonymousCanβt see that being an improvement overall, but at least the atmosphere around the club will improve.
Players will have a field day. Neither of those two will be respected and I cannot see the need for an assistant when there are two there already.
Phelan would be the Fergie link. Seems a tad desperate. There is a reason why he is available.

19th December 2018 at 6:49 am #29754Yesterday I mentioned comparisons between the England job and the Utd job in terms of the size of the task amid the huge levels of expectation. Before writing Ole off due to his indifferent CV, it might be worth considering further comparisons to the England situation.
Think back to how underwhelming an appointment Southgate was. An unassuming man with an ok club career and an average management career takes over a job which has had many a tactical genius presiding over it before. Southgate came in and got everyone on board with his ideas. He made the camp fun again.
Maybe, just maybe, Ole can be Utd’s Southgate.

19th December 2018 at 7:01 am #29755AnonymousFingers crossed. Heβll lift the atmosphere and the players will be happy again, but whether or not they will actually take a step back and take stock of how they have embarrassed the club and let down all of the great players, in fact you can include all of the crap players that were honest and gave 100% too, that have previously worn the shirt is debatable. And thatβs the sad thing for me, they just wonβt have learnt anything.
Looks like Solskjaer as he was announced on the club website last night before they removed the post.

19th December 2018 at 7:23 am #29756Alfie, as much as I’d love the thought of a Keane-type manager coming in and start kicking them around the training pitch until they start performing again, I just don’t think those tactics work with the modern day player who now holds all the cards. It’s a risk with Ole but this season was a write off now regardless.

19th December 2018 at 7:26 am #29758Keane never was good manager, IMO. Always him against the world. Simeone obviously is able to actually create teamspirit, and if he alienated players, then he wouldn’t have been for Atletico for as long as he has. And he’s a proven winner. Something Poch isn’t.

19th December 2018 at 7:36 am #29759I thought Keane looked like a brilliant manager when he first started out. That first season at Sunderland, they were brilliant. But my point was more about a disciplinarian type of manager in general maybe being as risky as an “arm around the shoulder” type of manager at the moment.
Simeone, I’m not sure about. Neither him nor Conte fit the bill of playing attacking football which the Utd board have stipulated as a requirement.
I wouldn’t mind the Dortmund manager. My only concern with him is that he’s 61.why is he only making a name for himself now? Can he build a dynasty etc?

19th December 2018 at 7:55 am #29761I think “hardball” managers have had their day in the sun. Many of the top players have too many people blowing smoke up their ‘Arris they simply won’t take it from a manager. The moment the manager upsets their little ego’s then they’ll be on the phone to the agent/lawyer etc…

19th December 2018 at 8:03 am #29763Cm was shouting for the ex Monaco coach who is free now. Jardin is it
I just donβt get the ole appointment at all.
So he leaves molde for 6 months? Doesnβt make sense and I agree with Alfie

19th December 2018 at 8:44 am #29766Solskjaer is coming in just to settle things down ahead of the real appointment which according to all informed comment is likely to be Pochettino.
