Losing him on Monday Night Football alongside Gary Neville would be tragic. He spat on a young girl FFS.Not just lose his job,he should be prosecuted for that.Only in stupid UK people will want to forgive and forget.Over a football game his fucking team lost,he is an an old man.

12th March 2018 at 1:25 pm #17845Both Carragher and the other driver were idiots and it could cost Carragher his job there’s no excuse for what he did.
The other mans daughter had more about her than her Father telling him to stop it before it started and continued to tell him to stop it.
Hopefully the Police do the Father for using a mobile phone whilst driving I lost a lovely young guy who worked for me who had a young family because a lorry wiped him out whilst on his mobile..
Pure stupidity I’m not condoning what Carragher did and he has to face punishment but given that a footballer gets a 6 match ban for spitting at an opponent I’m not entirely sure a sacking is the right punishment.

12th March 2018 at 1:36 pm #17848He spat on a young girl FFS
Carragher has come out and said he did not see the daughter. Looking at the video, we did not see her too considering the angle. I doubt he would have done what he did if he noticed someone in the passenger seat. We all can do and say ridiculous things spur of the moment, does not mean we should all lose our jobs over it. I am not condoning his behavior, he should rightfully be punished, but sacking him is over the top.

12th March 2018 at 1:49 pm #17852Massive error by Carragher and completely unacceptable he should be punished by Sky but given a player gets a 6 match ban for spitting at an opponent sacking him seems a tad harsh.
Perhaps a suspension from Sky until the end of the season would be most appropriate together with a strong warning as to his future behaviour.

12th March 2018 at 2:03 pm #17856I’ve felt for a long time there is a case for not letting pundits like Carragher with such a strong link to Liverpool comment or do punditry on Liverpool games same with Neville and United etc etc.

The angle you are looking at is different to Carraghers. Carragher grew up in the City and played for the club. You say it is only a game and that is true in your world, but to them it is something they have been attached to for so long.
It is a disgusting thing to do and again I am not condoning it. But Carragher is Liverpool through and through. Losing to your rivals would have an effect on anyone. Being a professional pundit, you meed to hold it together when your team win or lose knowing what your role is. Carragher had a spur of the moment incident on Saturday. I agree with 9, suspend him until the end of the season.
Sky have a made a rod for their own back here if Carragher gets the sack. Gallacher gets behind the wheel of a car in order to pick up her children over the limit and she gets let off.

12th March 2018 at 2:09 pm #17859Anonymousi think the way some people are looking at it is ‘how would you react if it was your daughter he spat at?’ and i think its a valid way to do it. if i had a daughter and a grown man (Regardless of whether they are a public figure) spat at her, i would lose my shit and make sure they regret what they did. this girl was completely innocent and even called her dad out for being a bit of a twat. but as a public figure and even a decent member of society you just cant do that and get away with it. what he did is technically assault and he could be prosecuted for it. hopefully it wont go that far but i’m sure the recipients of the spit will milk this for everything they can. should he be sacked? its difficult. whether hes in the studio or not, hes representing sky as an employee and this is a PR nightmare for them.

Fair points. If someone spat towards my daughter or family members, it would piss me off. In defense for Carragher though, he says he did not see the man’s daughter and looking at the footage, we could not see her too. I doubt Carragher would have done what he did if he noticed someone in the passenger seat.

As a grown up have you never done something that you may have regretted later. No grown up is perfect. Carragher should have known better I agree, but there is a difference between following a football club and being closely attached to one throughout the majority of your life.

12th March 2018 at 11:09 pm #17916I have had a change of heart after watching the incident fully and not some tweet that showed carragher spitting, then him repeatedly spitting in slow motion and nothing else after. After watching the full clip and the daughter saying he spat at me, whatever sky decide will be the right call.
