They’ve signed, what, 15 players since the Yank took over? Joking aside, mixing that lot in with the squad they already had, is going to be a nightmare, can’t see too many of these not exactly cheap players wanting to sit on the bench week-in, week-out… Nepolean is probably right, they’ll be shifting a few over the summer, but even so, Harry Potter’s manmanagement skills are going to tested to the limit…

31st January 2023 at 11:44 am #203509Ye very interesting to see how Chelsea get on threeps. The manager needs time but there will be big pressure to deliver. I’ve never seen spending like this. Not sure how it will end up. They’ve nearly bought a new team.
Lucky, ye can see Chelsea retrieving a lot of money back in the summer. Some good players there who can be sold.

31st January 2023 at 12:02 pm #203511Threeps,
“Chelsea are just playing a high risk/high reward game. It could work out great for them, it could all backfire and they have many players on very long expensive contracts that will surely affect future transfer windows. Do I think they are doing anything wrong? No. Would I be happy if Liverpool used this tactic? Also no, too much risk for me.”
Spot on 👍

Looks as though jorginho to arsenal is on.
Could be a good move for next 6 months at least. Although if arsenal come up against teams who have runners from midfield and have xhaka and jorginho in front of back line, there could be trouble as neither of them can cope with that.

31st January 2023 at 12:27 pm #203515Yeah completely agree with that too Threeps about the contract lengths. I wouldn’t even say it’s bending the rules as Chucky suggested. Nobody has ever stopped any club giving out long contracts. Let Chelsea give out 10yr contracts and gamble more on the success of their transfers if they want I say. Barca are doing much worse with their economic levers etc.

31st January 2023 at 1:39 pm #203516I have to say as a football supporter if it’s happening, that’s a solid move and really good business by the Gunners. Absolutely praise because I have dipped in and out of Arsenal Fan TV and in recent times, their supporters have been through lots and lots of frustration and despair, more to the matter of repetition and no signs of progress, or 5 steps back from 1 step forward.
The same drum banged about replacing Viera. That’s not happened, but Jorginho can bolster that midfield and regardless of the vision of not staying there too long for his age, he can give his experience to the younger ones. Why not. It’s depth to and layering up to supplement injuries.

31st January 2023 at 2:40 pm #203518I’m sure Beohly has been advised, his a billionaire so not a complete moron 🙂 , about players rights in football this side of the pond but I’m getting the impression he hasn’t quite understood. In baseball, something he knows a lot about, moving players (and their respective contracts) is a hell of a lot easier than in footy.
No truth in the rumor Chelsea have just offered Sabiter a 17 year contract??

31st January 2023 at 4:07 pm #203519For a supposedly shrewd businessman Daniel Levy never fails to make the club look ridiculous..
18 months ago we paid Seville £22M plus Eric Lamela for Bryan Gil, as of today Seville have the money, Lamela and Gil back playing for them , bet they love doing business with Spurs._____________________________

31st January 2023 at 10:34 pm #203523£105m for Fernandez – staggering.
I hope Potter’s magic wand is in full working order; or is he going to Huff n Puff to get them all to gel. It needs to work quickly, otherwise he’ll be Slytherin out the Gryffindor by the summer._____________________________

31st January 2023 at 11:13 pm #203524Benfica could make up to nearly £200 million from Liverpool & Chelsea over the last 6 months.

1st February 2023 at 12:17 am #203525I’m rather confused on this subject raised on a player’s contract length. That would be under personal terms agreed with salary, but in line with FFP, would surely be the fee being settled in installments over a set time.
Factually we know Chelsea have let go of some players, but boy has it been a storm in not only the amount recruited, but the amount spent. Staggering to say the least.

1st February 2023 at 10:36 am #203527Can’t complain too much, Dan Juma and Zorro coming in, some squad members going out, strenghened the weakest part of our starting 11, would have liked a left sided center back but it wasn’t to be.
Do we have enough to get back in the Top 4? Maybe, plenty of games to go, and not the hardest of schedules compared to some other clubs… not sulking about our chances just yet…

1st February 2023 at 6:21 pm #203528Danjuma is pointless. Won’t plsy like Richardlson or Spence. Conte bangs on about money but he’s spent 200m now so needs to get on with

1st February 2023 at 9:07 pm #203530Spurs like you said Sean have spent circa £200m, my question is how much of that went on players Conte actually anted rather than players that Levy thought he could make a profit on.
Some of the decisions this season make the club look like amateurs, Levy always looks for a deal or a quick profit, while Conte is trying to build a squad good enough to make top 4 . It looks like we are spending big unfortunately probably only 50% has been spent on players Contes wants, Djed Spence anyone ???_____________________________

2nd February 2023 at 7:23 am #203531Do you not think conte has full control of transfers mate? I don’t think he’s a man to be told who to buy eyc? Might make a bit of sense about Spence as why was he signed without being given a proper chance?
Richardlson doesn’t play and cost 60m? I just don’t understand it at the moment ad money had been spent. Spurs just look frail. I think the manager has been supported by level this time. Bissouna doesn’t play either. That’s 3 players costing a total of 100m who don’t play? You would know more then me mate so maybe I’m off track
I really expected spurs to be a really difficult side to beat now. Haven’t they lost every game they have played againest the current top 4 this season ?
