CM Your point is of course well made.
Lies, damn lies and statistics. Of course you can prove anything with statistics.
The truth is both have spent a fortune!!_____________________________

14th January 2023 at 6:08 pm #202926Chelsea reportedly agree Mudryk deal
Chelsea have reached an agreement with Shakhtar Donetsk to sign Mykhailo Mudryk, reports The Athletic’s David Ornstein. The deal is said to be worth just under Β£90m (β¬70m + β¬30m in add-ons), with a 7+ year contract agreed with the player.
Mudryk is reportedly leaving for London to undergo a medical, and although contracts are yet to be signed, it is thought to be a done deal.
Long-term Arsenal target Mudryk has played just 65 club games across his career to date, was named Shakhtar’s player of the year on Saturday.
He has posted several Instagram messages seemingly suggesting he is keen on a move to the Emirates Stadium, but now Chelsea look to have moved into pole position to land the promising forward.
Blues owner Todd Boehly has already sanctioned moves for Benoit Badiashile, David Fofana and Andrey Santos in the January window, while adding the loan signing of Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid.

14th January 2023 at 6:28 pm #202928This would take Boehly’s spending since the summer (including the incoming Nkunku) to not far off half a billion pounds! He’s not messing about is he?!

14th January 2023 at 6:33 pm #202929Did someone forget to tell Boehly, teams have to follow financial fair play regulations or does he not care.
Mad spending by Chelsea.

14th January 2023 at 6:55 pm #202938Of course FFP will need to he complied with and boehly will no doubt be fully briefed.
An 85m deal over 7 years is about 12m per year. Now for first year 12m will count towards ffp, 2nd year 24m, 3rd year 36m but then for 4th and 5th 6th and 7th years ffp will only count 36m of it too.
So its 85m but as far as FFP concerned will never count for more than 36m. Will never count more than 3 years of the wages due either. I am pretty sure that’s how it works out anyway.
Now of course the concern is the number of long term deals like this as they all add up and will be on the books for years.
If the majority of the purchases fail it will take a decade to recover imo. We could be heading for the decade utd just had.
All depends on how good they turn out to be though, if mudryk is of the class of robben or hazard then great, if he is another pulisic or ziyech its a big problem and we can’t afford many misses like that now.

Discussions between Steven Gerrard and Poland are ongoing. Waiting for his final decision but itβs being considered, as reported by Polish press earlier in the week. π΄π΅π± #Poland

17th January 2023 at 3:27 pm #203036Yeah adlab, the other question than how chelsea are managing FFP would be why so much investment so soon, but when you consider the regulations coming in it was now or never in terms of owners making direct investment in to the squad. Glad they chose now to be honest, despite my reservations, it’s making a bit more sense now.
Probably one more crazy window in the summer when we will see much more outgoing than incoming, then it will be normal from then on I think.
Then we just hope boehly did the maths right π€£

24th January 2023 at 3:56 pm #203264Not unexpected it was always going to be a matter of time I don’t think it will make an enormous difference a Β£50m player will cost Β£10m a year now instead of Β£6.25m a year from next Summer if it was a 8 year contract and only Mudryk has one of them.

25th January 2023 at 6:10 am #203282Rumors abound that not only is Paratici likely to be banned, but all the players are looking at a month ban (illegaly payments apparently) and that would also include Bantancur and Ginger Ninja…

25th January 2023 at 8:27 am #203283Banjo I really don’t understand what paraticci would have to do with it let alone the players. It’s the money side of it that’s dodgy so I am curious as to how they all were supposedly complicit.
