Pagan, not to forget the lifestyle Messi enjoys in Catalonia. Messi lives in a mansion in Castelldefels situsted next to the Mediterranean and less than 20 minutes from Barcelona and 10 minutes from the airport. It’s a great place to live as anyone who has regularly spent time in Catalonia can confirm.

Like Mak Nine, where have I tried to “downgrade” Messi’s achievements? I have done no such thing, just merely stated that Ronaldo has proved his achievements elsewhere. And that that will inevitably leave the question hanging over Messi as I said. As for the real best players line, I was just making that point, that the best players do adapt. I said Messi could well have done that if he left. And when comparing the two best players we’re inevitably going to pull up players on certain attributes here and there and compare performances. But I didn’t downgrade his achievements.

Mak…to respond to your earlier question “Why won’t Messi come to City” my personal view is he will go back to Argentina, China is out, Europe, cannot see any team affording him even for a year, USA not his style and City will be a poor second to going home.I would love to see him at City though, even for a season and yes he would light up the Premier in Peps team I would even re consider my season ticket for next year to see him play again. His life style is well established and I doubt he will want to let the trappings go easily. The one thing he could do though is stay at Barca,who may not be reaching the heights of previous seasons but feel sure they will be back. Just a view The other thing about Messi and Ronaldo, despite there ages, they keep fit and when you watch them they still put in a team effort…..the nearest we have, with all respect, is Vardy
