Twitter is awash with tales of the imminent arrival at Chelsea of Riyad Mahrez from Leicester City for a fee in the region of £42m plus add-ons of £5m and a weekly wage of £180,000 a week. His medical, if Twitter is to believed, is due in the coming week.???

I think that is a fantastic signing if we make. i have always rated Mahrez and he is a very skillful player who can also score a few goals. but this my dilemma. where does that leave for Willian who i feel is in superb form? because both Morata and Hazard will start as long as they are fit. i can’t see Conte opening up too much also. which means even if we revert back to 3-4-2-1 or 3-4-3, although i prefer the later. then Fabregas, Willian, Pedro and Mahrez will be competing for one position. will Mahrez be prepared to do that and wait his chance? and £180,000 a week is a huge contract also. i suspect as sad it will be we may have a deal already in place to sell Willian, which i will be disappointed with how Conte has treated him in the last two season. i thought Willian deserves more game time than he is getting. but as some said its Conte’s call.
Now if Hazard drops their interest in Hazard that is even better news. give him a new 5 year contract. because i can’t see him wanting to join United, that is pure bonkers for me. i suspect Conte is prepared to be at Chelsea next season, but on condition that what we witnessed this summer should never repeat itself again. and i expect heads to roll once the season is over. if Conte is given more say in our transfers both in and out, who to give contracts and who to release. then i can’t see him wanting to leave.

2nd January 2018 at 5:57 pm #10844Mav…bloody hope not, but who knows? Maybe the club said to him in August that they would let him go in January. It just wouldn’t make sense on so many levels though…we need him more than Barca, he’s Cup-tied in the Champions League, and he could leave with everyone’s blessing in June, but maybe that doesn’t matter to players, and is only relevant in the fan’s eyes!

2nd January 2018 at 6:54 pm #10848Hh-Cannot understand as to why would wee Phil want to move now in January.Like you said it,he is Cup-tied in the CL! I really believe Liverpool should just stand firm till June.Same goes for Arsenal regarding Ozil and Sanchez!

3rd January 2018 at 9:54 am #10902It’s slightly different for Arsenal though, as if they stand firm they will lose them both for nothing in the summer, as they are both out of contract. We are not and should get just as much in the summer as we will in January

3rd January 2018 at 4:00 pm #10920Guardiola could pounce on his former club to make a move for Barcelona defender Umtiti
Max Winters for MailOnline reported the City boss could raid his old team after Virgil van Dijk signed for Liverpool from Southampton. The centre-back would reportedly be available for £50 million due to an existing release clause, making him excellent value after Van Dijk’s £75 million switch to Anfield.
The long-term fitness of Vincent Kompany continues to be a worry for Guardiola, and it could be time to bring in a fresh centre-back with technical capabilities.
Umtiti has starred for Barca since his move from Lyon, but a chance to work with a coaching icon in Manchester would be very tempting for the Frenchman.
However, Barca are flying in La Liga, and they would do everything in their power to force the defender to remain with them.
Only £20M more than Johnny Evans.Hmmm decisions.

4th January 2018 at 6:42 pm #11014Chelsea linked to Andy Carroll?
Very left of field but a fit Andy Carroll would give Chelsea something different and he could dovetail well with Morata imo. Carroll would certainly give Chelsea a plan B.
