14th January 2018 at 8:24 pm #12476Ye nine but if I was an aresnal fan, I’d rather get nothing then sell to utd as Utd are Arsenal’s rivals for the cl but city aren’t

14th January 2018 at 8:52 pm #12485Good point Sean except Sanchez wants out and Arsenal getting a CL place are long odds they are 8 points behind Chelsea in 4th spot ostensibly 9 with goal difference.
Arsenal are a business and £35m now for Sanchez given all the factors makes sense to me. But it should never have come to this.
It’s appalling management by Wenger and the Arsenal Board.

14th January 2018 at 9:34 pm #12493It really is appalling management nine and if I was an aresnal fan I’d be fuming
I always defended Wenger but not anymore. He has to go. They are a shambles and are going backwards quickly

14th January 2018 at 9:42 pm #12494AnonymousSome clubs are happy to sell players to rivals. Arsenal have sold umpteen players to City over the years, Van Persie to Utd. Chelsea sold us Matic and Mata, and i’m Sure there are plenty of other examples.
In fairness to Arsenal they need to improve themselves, not worry about others as even if Sánchez went abroad City and Utd will buy someone else instead – and that player may have gone to Arsenal.
At least they get a fee and can use that to replace him.
Trying to replace Ozil and Sanchez with no fees coming in will be impossible. That’s your summer transfer budget gone already – and you’ll just have stood still, not actually improved.
Hard to swallow for an arsenal fan, I’m sure, but sell the pair now.

14th January 2018 at 9:43 pm #12495Sean, the problems really sit at the feet of Kroenke who only cares what the return on investment is and the Arsenal Board both of whom have given Wenger far too much power at the club.
Kroenke and the Board should have insisted Sanchez was sold two years back when he refused to commit himself to the club when the club could have got the highest price for him.
As much as I hope Hazard stays at Chelsea if he hasn’t signed a new contract before July 1st he sadly should be sold to the highest bidder.

14th January 2018 at 10:04 pm #12500Alfie, I think there’s a difference though. Mata was surplus to requirements. Matic was a strange one. Utd wouldn’t sell any of their best players to city , Chelsea , aresnal. Liverpool sold Torres to Chelsea. We sold sterling but the majority of Liverpool fans wanted him out.he wasn’t a star player. We sure wouldn’t sell anyone to utd or Vice beards.
Aresnal are constantly at it. Mykethern is a very good player. It hasn’t worked for him at utd but if aresnal got him as part of Sanchez deal, it would soften the blow.
You would have to be very annoyed if you were an aresnal fan. It’s going in years.

14th January 2018 at 10:17 pm #12504Alfie-Surely Arsenal have got loads of money to spend even if Ozil and Sanchez leave for free! Every team in the EPL has!

14th January 2018 at 10:27 pm #12505I think Matic will be 30 this summer, and he hasn’t had the impact that the Media and football pundits had been predicting. he has been a help but not that much. besides that Chelsea wanted long time replacement and got young Bakayoko. well he may not be Matic or close to his level. but once he settles the league and adapts to his surroundings. he will be an asset. he is only 23 yrs old. and new to the league at similar age Matic has been spending loan after loan. so the players that i would say if they left for United are HAzard, Costa, Courtois, Fabregas, Azpi, Kante, Alonso, Christensen. but Matic for me was right to be moved out. although he was shipped quicker than Conte would have liked. Conte wanted him to move once Bakayoko settles. because if Matic stayed it would have aided Bakayoko settling in. and let us not forget that United wanted Willian, but Chelsea said big no and he stayed. we keep players we want and sell those we are happy to sell, regardless of the impact they have on the opposition. we are Missing Costa more than Matic. we are keeping clean and our defence is second or may be third best. so we are not missing MAtic. we are Missing Costa’s goals.

14th January 2018 at 10:35 pm #12508AnonymousAgreed Sean. Utd wouldn’t sell a player to a direct rival. Arsenal seem happy too though. Chelsea don’t seem to mind either. Some are more pragmatic than others. If he is going to leave, get the best price for him.
I’m sure they’d prefer to sell him abroad, but that looks unlikely.
Maverick – maybe, hard to tell, but what would you have to spend to replace the pair? £200m to do it properly? Has any English club spent that in one window, let alone the extra to improve the team.

15th January 2018 at 12:40 pm #12556Sanchez still 4/11 to join Utd with City at 9/1 and PSG at 33/1.
It’s just RvP all over again. £25m for a player who will at most give us 2-3 years at the top level. Only going to hinder Martial and Rashford too.
Mkhitaryan is EVS to join Arsenal. If we pay £25m plus Mkhitaryan (who cost us £30m) for a 29 year old with 6 months left on his contract then that has to go down as one of the worst transfers in history.

15th January 2018 at 12:55 pm #12557Mourinho wont care about that though Mark he only cares about winning trophies and that’s what he’s judged on.
Also it might be a short term signing but over the next 2/3 years Sanchez may well win a PL title or the CL for United and Mourinho sticks it to City too.
It’s a classic Mourinho transfer and if Sanchez signs for United Mourinho will be very very talkative in his next few press conferences.?

15th January 2018 at 12:59 pm #12558Sean, Arsenal have no power in this transfer Sanchez will go where he wants because he only has a few months left on his contract and because of that Arsenal aren’t in a position to say we won’t sell him to a rival because it will potentially cost them £35m and Sanchez can move there on a free in the Summer anyway.

15th January 2018 at 5:12 pm #12592According to the reports both City and Chelsea are reluctant to give in to the Sanchez wage demands which is said to be £400k a p/w. and his agent fees which is believed to be £5m. on top of that Arsenal is demanding £35m for him.

15th January 2018 at 6:58 pm #12604Rumours this afternoon that City are sniffing arround the money grabber Sanchez again. I really hope not given the ridiculous money being talked about. We have more important positions to fill.
Let him join United or wherever!_____________________________

15th January 2018 at 7:06 pm #12605Well it appears none of the Utd or City fans on this forum want Sanchez at their club! What makes him a money grabber though Jim? Pep is the highest paid club manager in world football. Is he a money grabber too? Genuine question. Just interested to hear why he’s any different to any of the rest of the football world who want the most money they can get?!
