Mahrez is a really good player, I think you are right Sean he would do well with Salah mane and firminho running onto his passes.

7th January 2018 at 2:16 am #11382AnonymousYes, Coutinho has been playing on the left side, of CM. The Mahrez link isn’t true and is likely just the sh*t media doing their usual 2+2=17. fair enough that we all have our own preferences but we’re replacing a creative CM, not a winger. I’m not talking about where Coutinho played for us last season either because things have changed since then. The front line are perfect and it would be foolhardy to spend serious money just to add competition to our strongest position.
We saw what was missing against everton when Coutinho wasn’t playing. He’s a fantastic talent but he didn’t have every quality that we need in that position but losing his range of passing and flair will take away from our ability to break teams down.
This is unless we get someone in who can give us that creative spark that ignites the players ahead of him. Someone who can see the angles and make the passes in our high tempo style of football.
It wouldn’t hurt for us to offer RB £5m to take keita early also. yes that’s a lot of money to add onto an already inflated agreed price but we’re flush now and a top 4 place will not be easy to nail down. We need every advantage we can get and we’ve just sold potentially our best player.
I’m not upset about selling Coutinho, **** him if he doesn’t want to be here. I’m happy as logn as we get good money (we did) and that we succeed in replacing him in the same window. That second part may sound/be more difficult in practice but really, before we agreed to let the deal go through, we should have our next move all but agreed.
I will trust whoever Klopp and his team get in, they’ve made some fantastic signings over the last few seasons and have thoroughly earned the benefit of the doubt. If I have a concern it would be that FSG don’t want to release more funds until next window. Most fans seem to be happy to get players next season but we should try to be as competitive as we can now because you never know what BS is coming “next season”.
Anyway, this sounds like I’m complaining, I’m not as I’m hopeful that we’ll sign someone really good. Until we hear soemtihng solid (like a bid going in), I’ll be a little nervous about the remainder of this seaosn.

7th January 2018 at 8:04 am #11391But mak couthino player ahainest West Brom and we couldn’t break them down. This is no were near as bad as losing Alonso or Torres in my opinion. I would have liked to keep him until the end of the season but he’s gone now.
This is our best squad for years. We certainly need a keeper and replacement for couthino very lively.
We have won more games without couthino this season but he was hitting new levels. Under kloop he became very consistent. He will do really well at Barca. Best of luck to him. There is no doubt we are going to miss him. Makes no sense letting him go now but he really wanted out

7th January 2018 at 10:00 pm #11558Sean apparently arsenal want 35m and city want to pay 25m. Crazy money for a player with 6mths left on his contract. But Aguero and Sanchez up front is pretty exciting thought.

7th January 2018 at 10:06 pm #11561Jim, not a lot though with Jesus out for a while and if Sanchez helps City win the CL as he well might.

8th January 2018 at 1:23 pm #11574Inter Milan didn’t include a sell on clause when they sold Coutinho to Liverpool. As daft
as Chelsea with Lukaku, De Bruyne and Salah! ?_____________________________

8th January 2018 at 2:17 pm #11584Maverick, SSN’s reporting no sell on clause mate?
Crazy wages from Griezman but United can afford it and it’s peanuts if he helps them win the PL.
Isn’t Ibrahimovic on not far short of £400k pw although if course with him no transfer fee was involved?
