5th January 2018 at 7:41 am #11073Let’s hope that’s accurate CMan and both sign new contracts.
Courtois was outstanding v Arsenal and it would be very difficult to replace him with someone of similar quality whilst Hazard would be virtually impossible to replace.
Suggestions of Barkley for Β£15m being an imminent arrival ???

5th January 2018 at 7:43 am #11075Jim, Luiz has been injured he’s not far away from being fit now though and he could be in contention for the Norwich game.

5th January 2018 at 8:35 am #11078Anonymousbarkley to chelsea would be a strange one considering he turned them down in the summer. i’d be very disappointed if spurs dont go for him. i think he still has a lot to learn but poch can coach him and he is exactly what we need right now – he can split a defence but can also create from deep. would be very good alongside wanyama.

5th January 2018 at 8:45 am #11081I used to think Barkley was a good player and prospect, and wondered why the blues I knew really didn’t rate him.
As a result of sitting in a hospital with my father after he’d had a stroke last season, and watching lots of Everton matches (as he’s a blue of sorts) I began to understand what they meant.
He isn’t the brightest of players and is slow to react and make decisions and plays so many sloppy passes in a game its untrue. Then he will have a game of his life followed by another 4 shockers. My father describes him as a streaky footballer who doesn’t work hard enough on his game. I had to agree.

5th January 2018 at 8:52 am #11085You’re right Paxton, but he is just a bit dumb – and I reckon the likes of Kane and Alli et al are far more intelligent than Barkley and seem to have a great work ethic.
personally I wouldn’t want him at Liverpool, even though he grew up a Liverpool fan.

5th January 2018 at 12:17 pm #11109Barkley for Β£15m is a no brainer imo no matter who signs him.

5th January 2018 at 12:44 pm #11110I agree, he would be good value at that price – can see his price being More though.
I just donβt think he would improve sides as good as spurs or Chelsea. Heβs at his level I think.

5th January 2018 at 1:05 pm #11113I’ve always seen Barkley as one of those players who looks good on highlights but is incredibly frustrating to watch for whole matches. He’s not a bad option if the fee of Β£15mil is accurate but he’s certainly not the player it looked like he could be after the early promise he showed. Β£15mil for an English player in this market seems almost suspiciously low. Is he out of contract soon? If not, I’d be wary of why Everton are not holding out for more

5th January 2018 at 1:11 pm #11114Ah ok yes, just checked and his contract is of course up in the summer. Not a bad squad option for that price then and another homegrown quota place filled! Like Beni, I don’t think he’ll improve any of the top teams but it gives them a bit more depth

5th January 2018 at 1:43 pm #11117Ed@1:11pm probably the perfect summary.
Barkley is 24 and a full England international and home grown and at circa Β£15m he’s a great signing imo.
Chelsea can’t compete with the likes of City and United nowdays in respect of spending and have to be smarter in the transfer market.
SSN’s confirm that Barkley had a medical last night and Conte confirms that Chelsea are close to signing Barkley.
Taking all of the above into account imo
he fits the bill re being smarter in the transfer market. 5th or 6th highest on the assist list last season too._____________________________

5th January 2018 at 1:53 pm #11120Beni.If you think Barkley for Β£15m is about the going rate?
How much for Jordan “sideways” Henderson ? About a tenner imo π_____________________________

5th January 2018 at 3:26 pm #11125Canβt see were Barkley will fit in st Chelsea. Canβt see him playing much but time will tell. Talent there but a bit brainless. Holds onto the ball to much and very rash in challenges

5th January 2018 at 3:33 pm #11128AnonymousThey are getting him for Β£15m? wow I’d also say no brainer. At that price he doesn’t have to turn out to be much more than a decent squad player to pay it back and even thoguh he may be over-rated, the potential for him to find his way when brought to a big club, makes this a really good punt for me.
Coutinho looks to have played his last game for us. What do you guys think of Lemar as a replacement? He isn’t exactly blowing the football world away right now. Maybe that’s cause he’s half way out the door in his own mind?

5th January 2018 at 5:21 pm #11135Anonymousbarkley is a good signing for chelsea but i dont think its great for him. surely he’ll just be sat on the bench next to drinkwater. he’s not exactly gonna be on small wages. he supposedly wanted to be spurs highest earner, so will assume he wanted around 150k a week (just a guess).
