Don’t think we have a thread for the January window yet.
Diego Costa won’t extend his contract with Atlético Madrid. He’s set to leave the club in January – or next June as a free agent if no bids will arrive next month. 🔴⚪️ @MatteMoretto #Atleti #AtleticoMadrid

Costa would be exactly the “c**t” of a striker Jose would love at Spurs to rotate with Kane. Wouldn’t bet against it

23rd December 2020 at 12:48 pm #172713They brought someone in didnt they Ed, Carlos someone, playing him in Europe league, with bale added to books as well don’t see levy sanctioning it given the wages he will demand, however I think you are right in that jose would snap him up if it was purely his decision

23rd December 2020 at 12:58 pm #172715I wouldn’t get against it either Costa fits the profile. Hes not easy to manage mind and Jose might not fancy that side of it again.
The January window will be interesting, personally I would be very suprised to see too much transfer activity at the top end of the market but it can happen Pulasic, Fernandez and Laporte to name but three but we’re in tougher times currently.

23rd December 2020 at 1:05 pm #172716Ha, ha, yeah Levy might well be the problem if Jose wanted Costa Lucky. There’s a potential falling out there. It will happen sooner rather than later I’m sure.😊

23rd December 2020 at 1:14 pm #172717Yeah fair point Lucky on him needing to convince Levy. Still, I think Levy is likely to be slightly more flexible with Jose than previous managers considering his eagerness to get him to Spurs, which has been the case long before he actually came in.
Anyway, would not be at all surprised to see him come to the PL next month. Arsenal could be an option. Like Nine, I don’t think there’ll be much movement either this window.

23rd December 2020 at 2:12 pm #172718There are soooo many teams desperate to sell,as a result of Covid-19.Based on that,I can see teams from the PL taking advantage of dire straits many teams find themselves in.

23rd December 2020 at 4:58 pm #172722Ed, not like arsenal to bring in Chelsea rejects on inflated wages when past their prime though is it 🙂

24th December 2020 at 1:51 pm #172730AnonymousEd… Costa has never been the same player after his final year at Chelsea. Peaked early in his career, its been going backwards ever since.

24th December 2020 at 2:32 pm #172731AnonymousArsenal would be mad not to jump all over Tuchel.
There’s talk of Liverpool getting wijnaldums replacement in now, before he leaves. The name being bandied around oddly enough is Renato Sanchez.
Look, if Edwards and Klopp see something in him that other managers havent been able to make use of then I’ll trust them but he’s not exactly shined since gis break through….
I’d prefer Gini just stayed but I guess he’s set on leaving and if thats the case, fair enough, he owes us nothing.
Any word on what CB, if any we might be after?

24th December 2020 at 3:52 pm #172732Liverpool are skint and I think are at their non home grown squad quota so I wouldn’t expect anyone in for the first team until someone like Origi or Shaq goes.

24th December 2020 at 4:38 pm #172739I doubt if there will be any big moves in January, money is tight, rules getting more complicated. Goodmanagement is the only way forward no matter who you are

24th December 2020 at 4:47 pm #172741I dont think clubs should spend. Covid has knocked finances for six. Even the wealthy clubs.
There might be a few loans or swaps.
Unless clubs want to go more into debt taking their lead from government_____________________________

24th December 2020 at 5:30 pm #172744Agree with those sentiments lads. I suspect Chelsea will have to sell one or two before they buy again which is the way they do the majority of their transfer business now anyway.

24th December 2020 at 5:56 pm #172745There is always a way for the spending/buying to start,it involves a team starting the merry-go-round.i.e.PSG/City/Bayern-then those teams who sold to them have money to spend, and then another cycle begins.Say for example,PSG offer £150m to AM for J.Felix,City offer £100m to Benfica for Darwin Núñez-this will start the cycle of spending.

24th December 2020 at 6:13 pm #172748Mav. I will be very surprised if there is any big spending. Most clubs dont want debt. Well most anyway!
Hope everybody has a good and safe Christmas as best as we can.🎁🎄🎄🎁_____________________________

25th December 2020 at 10:43 am #172756AnonymousMav, I think Sanchez has been dropping back over the years? Dont really follow him, not even saying he’s like for like, it’s only what Ive heard. Not to qualify it either but Gini when we bought him was a much more offensive player than be us now.
Interesting about the home grown quota, well not in a good way but we should really try and offload Origi anyway.
