14th March 2018 at 9:30 pm #18058NB, so spitting at a 14 year old girl is worse than spitting at grown man, sexist and ageist. Sorry but Sky have bottled this, basically theyβre saying do what you like, you can always say sorry afterwards….Pagan

14th March 2018 at 9:32 pm #18059I didn’t realise it was something to make a mockery about. If an employer is all for somebody in this position to get the support needed, then so be it.
A lot of males in particular don’t really have in this modern society, proper good and trustworthy friends they can count on.

14th March 2018 at 9:35 pm #18060Sky totally bottled it. Should have been sacked immediately. Think Beni summed it up succinctly. Will always be remembered for this.

14th March 2018 at 9:38 pm #18061Pagan, I’ve just seen your reply.
It seems EVERYONE wanted him sacked for seemingly their own boost of self-worth.
At first I wanted him gone instantly, but I had a change of heart after seeing his interview with Sky News. The way talk was here for the last couple of days or so, it was as if there was no room for him to rehabilitate.
I used to work with probation with ex-offenders and when you look at their ‘portfolio’, they have with them ‘baggage’ 5-10-15x worse. I’m not wanting to compare the two or play down spitting as it’s baron, full-stop.
I’m looking at wanting to help somebody who to me was genuinely remorseful and wanting to make amends.

14th March 2018 at 9:50 pm #18066Sorry NB, he should have been sacked, he now has no credibility criticising any foul play on the pitch, what he did was disgusting, and to be honest Iβd be making the most pathetic grovelling apologies if Iβd just messed a Β£1m a year job up. I have no sympathy…Pagan

14th March 2018 at 9:56 pm #18067Jim, I just think there is slightly more to this than meets the eye.
I am putting the spitting to one side to try and get hold of an explanation. Maybe it is what it is face-value and nothing more to it than a moment of madness. It’s filth, it’s disgusting, but nobody has been injured or anything beyond.
I also get it’s gross misconduct in the work place and Sky probably should have let go of him to draw the line.
Sky have chosen however to stick with Carra on the condition he gets the help and support needed. So that suggests possibly of something related to anger or dealing with confrontational settings or ‘thought provocative’.
He’s seen the Red Mist, leaving the ground of Old Trafford. The daughter if anything wasn’t too impressed with her own father which suggests, to me, we’ve not been given the full picture.
What has bugged me in all this is people very quick to judge and write somebody off as if they no longer have any place or worth in society. That seems to be how our human race is, now.

14th March 2018 at 10:08 pm #18071Nil, dont talk complete rubbish. Nobody is saying he isn’t he isn’t worth anything to society or has a place in society. Where has anyone said that?? No where. Gross misconduct like that is a sackable offence and would be to the rest of us. Because it’s Jamie Carragher he’s got off. That’s me done on this subject it’s getting ridiculous.

14th March 2018 at 10:15 pm #18072Anonymousnil – you seem to have this thing where you deliberately disagree with everyone just so you can say you are different but then have a moan that no one agrees with you. carragher himself has admitted what he did was a disgrace. it is on camera. there is no hiding from it. i don’t get why you drive yourself mad trying to defend the indefensible. you even went as far to say you are putting the spitting to one side. why? thats the story! oh wait, he had a tough interview on sky news, that means we should draw a line under it and forget about. the fact is – he spat in the face of a 14 year old girl. whether he meant to spit on the dad and missed is irrelevant. he still spat at another person. he should be sacked. sky have bottled it.

14th March 2018 at 10:23 pm #18073Not at all Pax,
My whole thing is that I’m not SHEEP. I don’t go by FURORE of Twitter or articles conveniently put on Daily Mail. I am not going against the grain for the sake of it because I wanted him gone instantly from yesterday morning, at first.
Yes, the SKY NEWS interview INFLUENCED my whole thought process. I have no problem with him losing his job as he can start afresh. My problem with this is the way in which the reaction is coming across like we should lock him up and throw away the key.
All convenient by the way for you to wade in when there is a disagreement of some nature.

14th March 2018 at 10:34 pm #18075AnonymousNil there is always a disagreement when youβre involved. As I said itβs like you do it for fun. You assume no one is capable of making their own mind up and rely on the daily mail for their opinions. Sorry to disappoint but thatβs not the case. If anything you are the one has been duped by Carraghers βremorseβ he displayed in his interview.

14th March 2018 at 10:47 pm #18077You’re putting words in my mouth Pax and ready to pounce when there isn’t anything really there to pounce on. And, you’re seemingly out to make me be a sore thumb of some sort, hmmn.
You twist things or clearly have misunderstood my points of view.
I’ll reiterate: people above all have jumped on the bangwagon and those examples involved to me have not been whiter than white themselves – it’s therefore a bit rich of them to get on their hobby horse at their convenience.
It’s you that is convinced that he’s put on a faΓ§ade on the SKY NEWS interview. Maybe we ought to get Jeremy Kyle and his lie detector? And here’s me thinking we could at least see a little good in those who genuinely took the trouble to speak Nation-Worldwide.
He’s got plenty of money, doesn’t need it, and my guess is, he’d get a gig somewhere. I don’t care about that, and believe it or not, I’ve never been his biggest fan.
I am seeing the way society is, in being SHEEP, nothing to do with ‘assumptions’, more to do with perceptions.

15th March 2018 at 5:47 pm #18117AnonymousWhat Carragher did was disgusting and honestly, very disappointing. He probably has tossers like this guy in his face all the time and this time he just lost his head and did something that is inexcusable.
That said, I wouldn’t fire him for it. I’m a firm believer in allowing people to learn from their mistakes without paying the highest price (where possible). Even as I say that I wouldn’t fire him for it, it’s damn close. People will say that he’s a role-model, well, we will see no “reward” in banishing the witch but if people see Carragher doing something positive in the wake of this incident, I think that sends a strong message.
I haven’t read the thread on this yet, sorry but I’m imagining that I’ll get shredded for this opinion , so before that happens I just wanna say that i totally understand the position people might have of wanting him to be fired. If he were actually fired, I wouldn’t be up in arms.
