Hightown, to be fair Mav was the first to mention Pep in his second post and the implication was clearly there in his first post.
But we are past that now and as I said in my first post there’s nothing wrong with bigging up Klopp he deserves it.

22nd December 2019 at 2:40 pm #57245One of Klopp’ s biggest attributes at Liverpool has been his sure touch in the transfer market.
Alisson, Robertson, Matip, Van Dijk, Mane, Firmino and Salah to name but 7.
I can’t think of too many if any current PL Manager who has shown Klopp’s sure touch in the transfer market with a number of those players being bargain buys or bargain buys in relation to the current values in the transfer market.

22nd December 2019 at 4:16 pm #57255I have to agree with Mav’s opening post. Even as a fan of Manchester United you just have to recognize how good Klopp is. And I agree he is the best manager out there. By some distance as well. When he took over at Liverpool they were not exactly flying high. He had a lot of rebuilding to do. He did that. How much are the likes of Salah and Mane worth today?
He has turned Liverpool completely around. José couldn’t do that job at United. Pep never even tried anything like it.
Klopp can’t be praised enough for the work he has done at Liverpool. Just a shame United didn’t get him back in 2015._____________________________

22nd December 2019 at 7:50 pm #57276srd79 Pep came into a team that had won the EPL, his job was to take us to the next stage and for most part he is doing that, then again, you cannot have everything in life you wish for
For the record. Klopp is a very good Manager, has found a home in the UK and I think his style suits British football and is good for the game

22nd December 2019 at 7:54 pm #57277As a PS to the last Klopp v Pep v Jose does not exist in any of the Managers mind only in the fans and media who like to make stories up. In the privacy of there own company I am sure they have a quiet laugh about it

22nd December 2019 at 8:07 pm #57281maverick.. I think you are getting confused between thousands, millions and billions. No matter the amount, every transfer is a risk no matter one thousand, one million or one billion which I do not know a club which has reached that yet
From where City were 10 years ago to what has happened since required money, now you may not like that but all clubs have the same situation…it then becomes a matter of scale. SO, IF your owners decided to put huge amounts on investment in to your club I assume it would be OK with you? City got lucky, other teams will get lucky because big investments are on the way..it could be your lucky day
Some have issues as to where the money comes from Russia, Saudi, China USA…notice…no British investor….take the football out of the equation and talk where Investors are likely to go…like it or not…that is football of the future…….nothing to do with running a football club_____________________________

22nd December 2019 at 8:35 pm #57288Brian, that may very well be. It doesn’t change the fact that Klopp’s job was harder than Guardiola’s. Less money, bigger overall overhaul needed.
Guardiola is a good manager, but considered the gap Klopp and Liverpool have closed on PG and City over the last couple of seasons I’d say Klopp looks the more accomplished manager of the two. Also consider that PG so far hasn’t succeeded in the CL since the days he had Messi. So if the objective was to take City to the next stage Im not sure he really has done that unless he actually wins the CL. You can argue about style of play and so on, but at the end of the day is that enough?
Klopp also won the lot in Germany with someone not FC Bayern. PG never did anything like that either.I’d still have Guardiola over Solskjaer though ?

22nd December 2019 at 8:36 pm #57290I think we are jumping the guns too early. both Klopp and Pep are two great managers. if you ask me which one i prefer? it’s Klopp and that is my individual opinion. but anyone who is trying to paint Klopp anywhere Pep is wishful. Pep has maintained success throughout his career. while Klopp has to build it from scratch. yes Klopp will go down in history as the manager that has broken Liverpool’s Premier league duck in the last 30 years. but still if you judge overall career, Pep is miles ahead of him. the work Klopp has done at Liverpool has been outstanding. Klopp is entering the successful chatters now, it’s up to him to maintain it. but as it stands, Pep is the better manager overall.

22nd December 2019 at 8:46 pm #57293I think you can make a case for either one being the best.
Fact is they’re both great Managers who have built two great teams who when they’re on song play some wonderful football and they are likely to dominate for a while.
Well at least until Frank and Chelsea get fully up to speed anyway.?

23rd December 2019 at 12:45 am #57301Brian-I agree mate, and nothing against City or Pep,plus Klopp has spent money too,was thinking more about how much my team have wasted so much money the last few years, and won next to nothing.Wish United didn’t pay £90m on the virus called Pogba, but spent money more clever.Come the end of the day,its not our money,so they can do anything they like, was just praising Klopp for buying the proper players cheaply.Again,my apologies if you or any other City fans thought I was thinking about City or Pep.
It also comes down to developing young players and improving the ones you buy.Merry Christmas and happy New Year, hope no hard feelings

cant remember which team he is manager of but there is one in germany called Herr Flick….had me in stitches
also amazes me how many people called Adolph there are, may be a common enough name but you think most would still well clear of it and it would die out for the most at least in normal culture!

23rd December 2019 at 1:15 pm #57330I was thinking of starting a thread on “Who is the bestest emerging Manager” Stevo.?
Can’t disagree though that Klopp’s done a great job on a lesser budget than Pep. Amongst a number of great signings I think Van Dijk has been his stand out signing even at circa £75m. Cheers 9’s
