If it makes you feel any better mate,I do agree with 999!.I cannot see HK playing for another EPL club,Real Madrid,Barca, and PSG are the only teams able to convince Kane and DL.Same goes for DA imho!

11th October 2017 at 8:12 am #5947Interesting rumour this morning in the gossip columns re Kane. Apparently Real are prepared to offer Benzema, Bale and Modric to get their man. As good as Kane is, when would Spurs ever get the chance to sign 3 players of that calibre again? I know it’s only a rumour but if I was Daniel Levy, I’d seriously have to consider that offer.

11th October 2017 at 8:18 am #5948Even Levy won’t be able to turn down two players and an entire country for Harry Kane. ED

11th October 2017 at 10:00 am #5951Hmmmm… chuck in Ronaldo, 100million and Real continue to pay everybody’s wages and then I might think about for about as long as it takes me to crunch a Sherbert Pip!

11th October 2017 at 10:01 am #5953As for DA, I reckon he’s head is already turned and would be surprised if he’s still at the “New House of Pain” Lane next season.

11th October 2017 at 10:11 am #5956Just a feeling in my Finnish Fire-water, he’s head just hasn’t looked “in it” this season, and with all the talk about about new agents (where there’s smoke, there’s fire), and possibly assisted by fall-out from everybody’s constant attempts to pack the bags of Spuds players, I just think he’ll be off if he has a great world cup!
Off course, he might turn around and sign the new contract that is on the table apparently… so what do I know? 🙂

11th October 2017 at 2:49 pm #5973Banjo-Players signing new contracts these days means only one thing-their clubs can only ask for bigger transfer-fees for them!.If you were HK or DA,would you really turn down the chance to play for Real Madrid, the world`s biggest team?.

11th October 2017 at 6:34 pm #5977Loaded question cyber chum, as I bleed Spuds when cut, I have about as much desire to play for Madrid as I do to scoop my eyes out with a very splintery spoon!

11th October 2017 at 7:02 pm #5983Still a loaded question, maybe Harry bleeds Spuds too and has no desire to play for a team he holds no affinity for… obviously I can’t answer for him, can I, cyber chum!

12th October 2017 at 8:30 am #5992banjo, how many top players in the recent past stay loyal to one club off the top of my head I can only think of Giggs, Terry, Scholes and Gerrard but the first three won everything they could win and were very well compensated too and Gerrard won everything he could win bar the PL title and was a top earner.
“Spurs in the blood” sounds very romantic but is likely to be out balanced by lifestyle, £350k a week and a chance to win the biggest trophies.
Spurs bigger problem is being able to hold on to the likes of Dele Alli etc on significantly less wages than they can earn elsewhere if Spurs can find a solution to that problem there’s more chance of keeping Kane certainly in the medium term if not it will only add to the likelihood of him eventually going to a Super Club possibly sooner rather than later.

12th October 2017 at 9:01 am #5995Nine, I have to agree. It’s only since City have been able to pay top earnings and compete at the highest level that we have been able to buy and hold on to our best players. Common sense really. Look at Arsenal not really competing on either front anymore and their best players have left for the last few seasons.

12th October 2017 at 9:38 am #5996Anonymouswe’ll wait and see what the future holds for kane but this huge media campaign to unsettle him and the rest of the spurs squad is ridiculous. yes its proof that we are finally competing with the best in the country but they are just trying to dismantle everything that has been built by levy over the last 10-15 years? why? what exactly is their agenda? is it because spurs now regularly finish above at least one of the sky 4 and they dont like it?
with regards to alli, he’ll be gone next summer and i dont think i’ll miss him a huge amount. as banjo said he already seems to have fallen for the media trap and has his mind elsewhere. his performances this season have been poor for a player like him. hes exceptionally talented but replaceable. hes also a cheat and gets himself in to trouble too often and it can be to the detriment of the team. kane on the other hand is irreplaceable at the moment and we need to do everything we can to keep him.

12th October 2017 at 9:54 am #5997Paxton, do you actually think there is a media campaign targeting Spurs. I could say the same about City. Every week there is an article about Aguero leaving us. And the media talk about Sterling going to Arsenal almost as if it’s a done deal despite the club openly stating that Sterling is going nowhere. Jim

12th October 2017 at 10:11 am #5998Goldie… being a football romantic is in the Spud genes, don’t you know? 🙂
And yes, there have been a few players who have stayed at one club etc…, the point being there has been and there is no reason to suspect there can’t be more! Like Paxo says, it’s taken a bloody long time with a lot of false dawns, but finally us Spuds have got ourselves a semi-regular spot at the top end of the table yet we get “warnings” about all our players leaving for this, that and the other. (I’m guessing it’s as tiresome as the “Moneybags” jokes you Chelsea and City fans get!)
And yes, being a football romantic, I’m willing to bet a Mars Bar or two that winning trophies (however implausible it maybe) with the Spuds will taste a lot sweeter than popping along to a “Super-Duper” club and just being part of their production lines….you going to tell me winning Big-Ears with the Spuds would won’t feel about a billion times better and come with a zillion times the glory, than winning it with Real?
And for the 47th time, all the new contracts issued over the last few years have (well, rumored to have) nice big chunky pay-rises in them when we get to the new stadium, along with whats reportedly some League leading bonuses for winning something in the meantime. One “version” I’ve read on the Interweb, was Harry for example, took home over 8 million last year (that’s roughly 160k a week). Might not be “Super” club wages, but hardly a fooking pauper, is he?
