Top Bloke Nick Mason, met him a couple of times at club race meetings when my brother was racing, really down to earth and a proper petrolhead….Pagan

28th August 2019 at 8:15 pm #465599-Yes great news indeed, and hopefully both teams will manage to consolidate and come back strobger.
ps:talking of Pink Floyd, have you ever seen them live,or even met any of them? A very sad story what happened to Syd Barrett.

28th August 2019 at 9:11 pm #46564Mav, yes I saw them on βThe Wallβ tour at Earls Court in 80 and 81.
And as above met him a few times when he was racing in the same club meets as my brother, although heβs a big Ferrari man, he was actually racing Alfaβs. Other than the fact he was racing a very expensive car you wouldnβt have known he was mega rich, just a real petrol head…Pagan

28th August 2019 at 9:26 pm #46565Mav, no sadly never saw Pink Floyd. Gilmour is one of my favourite Guitarists I saw the Auction of his Guitars from New York which raised over $21m.
Very sad about Syd Barret instrumental in Pink Floyd. Sad life for someone so talented.
“As the spark that launched Pink Floyd into orbit, Syd Barrett left behind a small but unbelievably potent body of work. He was the principal songwriter behind the bandβs debut β 1967 masterpiece The Piper at the Gates of Dawn β and a handful of strong early singles that helped define the psychedelic age. His creative genius was derailed by a drug-fueled psychological collapse, forcing his 1968 removal from the group he helped form. Though Barrett helmed Pink Floyd for barely two years out of their three-decade career, his specter haunted the band for the remainder of their existence and his presence is felt in some of their finest work.” Rolling Stone.

29th August 2019 at 2:19 pm #46596Someone on TT asked if Bolton and Bury mattered to fans of e!ite Clubs.
Great post from Alfie on that which I thought was worthy of being shared on here.
“Of course it matters.
It could have been any club.
All fans are the same at heart. We all enjoy the same thing, and have the same fears for the clubs. All have the same emotions, same memories, same hopes and aspirations.
Imagine the club your dad took you to first, as a kid, suddenly not being there anymore. What memories you had of that club. The experiences. The camaraderie. The tears. The joy. The freindships. The dreams.
How can that not matter to a fellow football fan? Itβs something, probably the only thing, we all share.”

29th August 2019 at 2:25 pm #46598If Liverpool stopped existing as a club, I’d probably give following the game up.
I wouldn’t support Leicester. Dislike practically every European Team out there. I’ve changed my mindset in recent times. Maybe it’s me growing up combined with the obscene amount of money and the corruption in our game.
I want a few League Titles and for us to regain the Mantle that we once had.
Of course I take an interest if another club’s in danger. I can say I wouldn’t show too much sympathy to the ilk of Barcelona and Real Madrid, but would certainly never wish this on Everton or Manchester United even if they are my rival clubs.

29th August 2019 at 2:30 pm #46600Anonymous“Why did you think he was he a scum bag Mak?”
Oh, his accent and tone of voice is a dead give-away in this neck of the woods man. TBH “scumbag” might be a little harsh on some but he was at least a bit of a messer, that’s for sure but his little moment was hilarious all the same.

29th August 2019 at 2:37 pm #46601Anonymous“If Liverpool stopped existing as a club, Iβd probably give following the game up.”
I definitely would. In fact there is a chance I may do when Klopp leaves. When Hodgson was in charge, I wasn’t really much of a fan then. I did watch some games of course and even chatted on TT a bit but I missed a good chunk of his timer in charge, partially due to me living in Canada at the time.
Winding up my interest in the game never occurred to meat the time, although I felt that H&G were ruining the club. I was very pro-Rafa and Hodgson was useless, so these weren’t great times for me as a fan at all.
As for Klopp. I feel that he’s the perfect match for us in every way. Obviously it’ll depend on who comes in after but I don’t know if I’m going to be “in” for another decade or 2 of being mediocre. I say all this but maybe when the time comes, I will.. like I was for the last near 30 years π
We’ll see!

29th August 2019 at 4:18 pm #46610Nil, I don’t want anything mate what you refer to is the policy of the Site as set by the Editor and confirmed to all on the basis that there are not enough posters to justify separate Club sites.
I’ve lost count of the number of times that has been explained to you!

29th August 2019 at 4:22 pm #46613999, I think Mr. Balance thinks you donβt get the Liverpool vibe, whereas I think your comment was you donβt get the scumbag reference, which to be fair neither do I…..Pagan

29th August 2019 at 6:04 pm #46646Nil@3:54pm It’s the facts mate that’s all.
My post@2:56pm was tongue in cheek hence the smiley face but threads getting turned into Liverpool threads can get a tad wearing.

30th August 2019 at 7:12 am #46675all the above shows me is a couple of Glory fans, when things dont go well they “dont really follow/support” the team…..so they would stop all together or if they had a bad manager?
not that pool would ever go bust anyway but its silly, maybe try not being so fickle and support a smaller local team with no cash? ;P

30th August 2019 at 7:50 am #46676Blimey Buffy, what is going on in the world!! Now I’m agreeing with you!! Nil & Micky are coming across a bit “sheep” with their comments about not following Liberoools when “times aren’t so kind”… and knock me down with a feather, I’m agreeing with the puppy too!! How did a thread about Bolton turn into a thread about Liberoools “getting back were we belong” & “I’m retiring when Liberoools aren’t great (again)”? π

30th August 2019 at 7:56 am #46678Stevo, I’ve always thought if you support a Club you have to experience the really bad times in order to properly appreciate the really good times and spend years at the actual coal face too.
Of the top Clubs perhaps only Chelsea and City fans of a certain age have truly experienced the good and the bar in the extremes but to a lesser extent United and Arsenal fans are appreciating that now also over a lifetime I think there will always be a more real relationship to a Club that you’ve grown up with going backwards and forwards to the ground every other week in all weathers and as you grow a bit older going to the away games where friendships are formed.
No one more than Brian our City fan on here is probably a better example to all of that and still doing it at 80 years young.
TV coverage and the computer age has changed the game it’s too easy for fans to attach themselves to the biggest Clubs and watch them in every game without leaving their armchairs allowing them to enjoy the reflected success.
That’s why I’m proud of how my Son is bringing our two Grandsons up in the game with season tickets to their local Club Bristol City and playing for their local team every week and going every other week with their Dad to support their local team builds a special relationship between Father and Son too where they both live the triumphs and disasters of that Club together which helps form a special bond between them.
The fans of Bolton touched the heights but I’m sure they would have been happy to forgo all of that for their Club just to survive.

30th August 2019 at 7:59 am #46679scousers….funny breed π
but when you have a topic about a club potentially going bust (ok they have been saved) just after another going bust this week and then spouting such glory hunting nonsense it does somwwhat lesten all their dribble about 97 points yada yada yada…..
as for agreeing with me…i know, its scary right? but dont worry after we give your lads a good old fashioned rodgering up at the Arsenal on Sunday usual business will be resumed….after you stop crying, fix your broken tv and reappear from the wilderness π
