Ed, haha you know at the mo Liverpool’s a much better proposition and United’s a car crash 😉
Jokes and playfulness aside, I’ve read it’s not all good behind the scenes at Pool. Somebody in the top end of the hierarchy resigning y’day.

17th January 2023 at 5:50 pm #203039Ratcliffe is the United fans dream owner.
I guess it might depend on whether the Club goes to the highest bidder in that situation Ratcliffe could be outbid by other potentially richer bidders.

17th January 2023 at 7:13 pm #203041Spot on Nine. It won’t matter how good a fit or how popular a potential owner is. All that will matter is who can stump up the most cash.

17th January 2023 at 8:00 pm #203042Not much of a fan then, is he? Or is he claiming the billion pound “But I’m a real fan!” discount?? 🙂
Put up or shut up, Jimbo!
Hold on… the mob that own PSG can’t buy my Cock’s (or at least no more than 30%) due to multi ownership rules or something, yet Big Mouth Jimbo who owns 100% of Nice can buy 100% of YooUtd?? Something doesn’t add up here…

17th January 2023 at 8:21 pm #203044Wait, you want the Qataris now Chucky? 😄
Isn’t the multi club ownership something to do with having competing clubs in Europe or something? How do the RB group get around it?
Also, are you again suggesting he can’t be a fan because he’s not prepared to overpay? I’m a Utd fan but I wouldn’t overpay for a match ticket. He’s not stupid enough to let his emotions get in the way of his business acumen.

17th January 2023 at 8:24 pm #203045For what it’s worth, I think he’ll be priced out by the competition in the end. We’ll end up with either an American or a Middle Eastern ownership group most likely.

17th January 2023 at 8:50 pm #203050Course I don’t, I’d have to move to Whales and live with Nepolean if they did… 🙂
And define over-paying? Should he pay less? If somebody wants too value the club higher, then they will. Who’s right and who’s wrong?
I just think Jimbo is all mouth and no trousers… a Micheal Knight with lip gloss.

17th January 2023 at 9:14 pm #203052I mean, him and Ineos have a number of sports investments. That together with the fact he’s a boyhood Utd fan means it’s not that much of a stretch of the imagination to think he’s actually interested. It would be odd if he wasn’t. Whether or not he can afford the club is another matter entirely.

17th January 2023 at 10:37 pm #203056It’s a bid process. Ratcliffe will presumably put in what he thinks is a realistic bid for United based on what he thinks is a realistic value for the Club but he won’t know whether he’s bid too much or not enough and realistically it could be too rich for him.
If you’re a United fan you can’t have better than a United fan bidding for the Club there’s no guarantee that Ratcliffe will win that bid on the basis that American Consortiums and Middle East bidders are likely be far richer than Ratcliffe and his success as businessman suggests despite his love of United he won’t bid more than he thinks the Club is worth .
For United fans there can’t be anything better than a United fan potentially owning your Club.

We’ll see Chucky. I’m not sure exactly what point you’re making? Is it that he’s just bidding for publicity? As I say, he (Ineos) have a number of sport investments so it can’t be all that surprising. From what I’ve read, he’s quite a shy individual so I’m not sure why he’d want the publicity just for publicity’s sake.
I think we’re in agreement that he probably won’t win the race but, unlike you, I think his interest is genuine. Maybe I’m naive but I’m not sure what a multi billionaire has to gain from a bit of publicity.

18th January 2023 at 7:03 am #203060Not doubting for one minute he isn’t a “fan” or whatnot, and I’m not really suggesting it’s all a publicity stunt.
However, I’m thinking a man as obvioulsy successful as Jimbo is, would be taking care of multi-billion pounds deals in private (and yes, buying footy clubs, despite the billions, isn’t quite the same as “regular” busssiness).
But when you add in the fact rules won’t allow him to majority own 2 clubs at the same time (does anybody know any different?), and there’s no signs of him selling Nice, you can’t be surprised if people are sceptical about his supposed actions, because from that aspect something doesn’t quite add up.

18th January 2023 at 8:19 am #203061There are no rules to ban an owner from owning one club in each of a number of different countries, and according to a 2021 study by Play The Game, 15 English clubs were part of a multi-club system – the most of any country in Europe.16 Sept 2022
What wouldn’t be allowed is both Nice and United competing in the same European competition which looks highly unlikely given their relative strengths.

18th January 2023 at 8:31 am #203062Fair enough, pretty sure the article I read about mentioned multiple stakes are okay, but only owenwership of over 30% is allowed in 1… hence the reason why that PSG mob could only buy 30% in my Cocks and not the whole lot.

18th January 2023 at 8:45 am #203063Much more chance of PSG and Spurs being in the same competition in Europe. UEFA rules prohibit joint ownership Clubs competing in the same competition’s. Ratcliffe owning Nice would currently not be a barrier to him owning United. Like the Ed I suspect Ratcliffe will get outbid by wealthier potential owners from the US and the ME.

18th January 2023 at 8:52 am #203064Well, at least we can agree on the idea of Jimbo taking over YooUtd is about as likely as me taking over my mob!

21st January 2023 at 8:57 pm #203183I will settle for Ratcliffe.
Still reckon it is a smokescreen after the Ronaldo interview and they will give some PR saying nobody matched their valuation.
