Harry, I’m not battering Corbyn when he’s down mate I’ve been battering him for years.?
Labour were never going to win a General Election with him leading the Party. To be fair numerous Labour Candidates have said that Corbyn was a significant problem on the doorstep as have a lot of the electorate interviewed today in the Labour constituency’s that were lost and Johnathan Ashworth got caught out telling it as it is before the General Election.
Labour have a great opportunity to reset and find a more appealing leader now I hope they do this country needs an effective opposition and I’m not sure majorities like this one are necessarily that good for the Country.
As Nil suggests above we now have to get on with the process of leaving the EU and hopefully as a Country come together now.

13th December 2019 at 6:05 pm #56620I was a Labour supporter during the time when the Working Class were up against it whilst a certain Iron Lady back then was in Power.
What a crying shame to how far they’ve plummeted. Jeremy Corbyn will never cut it. He has baggage. They just aren’t as credible as they used to be.
I don’t trust that Jon Ashworth character at all – didn’t realise he was only 41 – looks older!
Somebody from the background from running their own independent constituency needs to come forward to reform Labour.

13th December 2019 at 6:21 pm #566229 & NB – Even though I agree with a lot of his policies, I do agree he’s been a weak leader, and agree with nil that he has baggage, whether all of it is justified is another matter.
This was a brexit election though, and Corbyns stance on brexit came under constant scrutiny. Party split about 60 40 in favour if remain in terms of voters. Damned if he did, damned if he didn’t tbh, but I suppose shame on him for not being able to see that, and resign I suppose. The next Labour leader would have been in the same position though, I guess hopefully without the afore mentioned baggage.
Respect the result though, and am sort of relieved the plaster can just be ripped off now. I will end on one combative note however. If you did vote conservative, please hold your party to account for their failings going forward, no more excuses about the other guy please.

13th December 2019 at 7:04 pm #56625D/H, long time no speak first of all – hope you’re good.
I watched my local news tonight and the general feeling/reaction coming from individuals snubbing Labour was down to his attitude and behaviour on other affairs, e.g. globally and with them brought into England.
I think going forward, once Brexit is done, then we should just try and concentrate on the issues at home that need addressing like the NHS.
Cheers

13th December 2019 at 7:22 pm #56627Let’s be honest we had a choice of Johnson or Corbyn, these were apparently the best two people to lead the country, then again the other year the most talented thing in Britain was a dog…..Pagan

13th December 2019 at 8:06 pm #56631Nil, I think Boris will do a good job. I have noticed a change in him over the last couple of months he has lost some of the buffoonery and I think he will concentrate on the job in hand more. We shall see. I am just pleased we are not living under a Communist regime

13th December 2019 at 8:44 pm #56632Brian, I completely AGREE and understand on your point of Communism.
I did read sometime back something about Jeremy Corbyn and Property Tax as one of his ‘Propositions’.
It’s as if somebody working for example 40 years in building their Life, only to be told their Wealth has to be distributed.
What do our National Insurance Contributions and Income Tax stand for one would naturally think and draw attention to.
Cheers

14th December 2019 at 5:15 pm #56661Nil…when they said they ncould get there hands on cheap money to pay for all the promises….this is where it comes from…our pension pots and savings All governments from the year dot, asked for us to save and build a pension fund…..this saves them a job then decides….oh, this is nice to borrow from or Tax…we are caught either way. I liked the old labour but this lot are depressing, they have no style, culture or common sense and there values belong to another regime That finishes me on this subject

14th December 2019 at 6:31 pm #56672Brian,
just to share something personal, in my more youthful phase, I struggled a lot sustaining employment. Now, my fortunes (thank goodness) have changed for the better and I have been paying a regular pension into the company pot for the last few years.
I don’t know what the future will be like by the time I reach in my lifetime the point of retirement. My attitude is to play safe, and try and build your own future and save for the rainy day.

15th December 2019 at 11:44 am #56698Nil….keep to the sensible approach, you cannot go wrong.Everyone has choices, some do not save and prefer to spend, mostly what they cannot afford, and others save for retirement or rainy day or whatever they want to save for. I wonder how many children actually save any of there pocket money now, My mother always told me pennies makes pounds. I am not a millionaire or rich but have enough to pay my bills which are forever increasing but my pension does not keep up if you take all the indirect taxes now forced on us like hospital car parking fees, bus lane charges for an empty stretch of road etc etc.At 85 years I know things are unlikely to get better because if somebody found a way to charge you for breathing, they would that is the culture to day

15th December 2019 at 4:24 pm #56718The EU accounts for 18% of Scotland’s exports the rest of the UK accounts for 60% of Scotland’s exports. Yet Scotland want to leave the UK and rejoin the EU???

15th December 2019 at 7:17 pm #56750I really don’t know the ins and outs, but if Scotland were allowed to have a referendum and voted for independence could Westminster just say OK cheers, good luck, you’re on your own.
Or does Nicola still want Westminster to support Scotland financially_____________________________

15th December 2019 at 8:02 pm #56754Shiney, tbh I’m still not sure that when push comes to shove the majority of the good people of Scotland actually want to leave the UK but if Nicola ultimately gets her way and gets them out then she and Scotland are paddling their own Canoe imo.
I’m not even sure the EU would actually want them and I can’t get my mind around why you would put at risk 60% of your exports to join the EU who account for 18% of your exports and keep bleating on about Scotland have been taken out of the EU against their will.
If Nicola gets her way they’re no different to any other EU country imo the support ends and like Brian I won’t be looking to buy anything that comes out of Scotland because imo they are weakening both themselves and the Union and it doesn’t make a haporth of sense to me.
But of course I’m not a Scot with nationalist tendancies.?
