Our politicians are the biggest bunch of liars, narcissists, self-interested and ignorant fools I’ve ever seen in my lifetime. Both of the main party leaders are, in my opinion, dangerous for the country, which leaves me in a dilemma as to who to vote for. As I see it, you can only vote either with your heart or, if you have a good constituency MP (and there are some, I’m sure) you vote for them, regardless of who their Party leader is.
People keep telling me a vote in my constituency is a wasted vote as it is a pretty strong Labour seat, but I voted with my heart this morning and voted Lib-Dem, not that they have a hope in hell here in Salford. I am very much against Brexit, and they are the only Party who have nailed their colours to the mast as far as I can see. Wasted vote? Maybe, but at least I can sleep easy and know I haven’t voted for Johnson or Corbyn!!

12th December 2019 at 6:56 pm #56570It is a bit of a beauty contest Hightown between the main parties where you have to choose to vote for who you consider to be the least ugly.
I’ve been pretty disgusted with the goings on in Westminster across all parties of late.

12th December 2019 at 7:30 pm #56571I think most people are disgusted with politicians in general, and we only have to look to ‘Merica to see how bad it can really get. Which is worse? Choosing a politician, despite them being idiots, who actually is a politician or choosing a reality TV star who is a terrible businessman who knows jack all about politics?

13th December 2019 at 12:08 am #56576Lol, π I should be really asleep as I’ve got to open up really early and run a shift having been on a late finish tonight.
Looks like Cons are set for a Victory. Blyth Valley snapped up.
Quite surprised hardly any seats for the Lib Dems. Corbyn’s got to step down if he loses.

13th December 2019 at 7:47 am #56582Says more about Corbyn than it does about Johnson, I feel. The public generally disliked, didn’t trust, Corbyn more than Johnson.
Trouble is that Johnson now has carte-blanche to do wtf he wants. We’ve given the keys to the sweet shop to the most untrustworthy, blatantly self-interested Prime Minister for generations

13th December 2019 at 8:21 am #56585Think you’re right Hightown reportedly Corbyn didn’t show up well on the door step according to a number of Labour MP’s and I don’t think there was a desire for the left wing policies of the 70’s from the electorate. Brexit obviously played it’s part too particularly in the large leave areas.
Hopefully Labour find a more acceptable leader to the electorate and press the rest button as a party because the country needs a credible opposition party in Parliament as a counter balance.
The results in Scotland set up a problem though.

13th December 2019 at 8:46 am #56586the only thing that can be said now is we have the ability to MOVE FORWRD, rightly or wrongly at least we are no longer stuck in limbp, i just hope more good comes off this than bad and business can now look forward and stop hedging bets
sahme we lost Mak, reading between the lines and the various issues where he lives (stopped a rape and a suicide?) i think the lad may well be under immense stress and pressure, with studies and general living, not to mention his beloved Pool
regardless of view points and some of the things said (most of us at some point have lashed out) and even though he rinsed me good! i hope he is ok within himself, i sense more issues under the surface, stuff that Nil and myself know about perhaps
Mak if you still read mate then i wish you well and hope things calm down for you in general

13th December 2019 at 3:38 pm #56610To me, this sums up a politician. I listened on TV to a losing Lib speaker who stated we lost because of Brexit….then goes on to say……If they had got there way and had a peoples vote this would not have happened or words to that effect. Well, you cannot have it both ways and you should listen to what the people wanted in the first place, now you have costs us millions in wasted time including your salary for something you tried to ignore, the real peoples choice of 2016. The will of the people have put you in your place They always look for excuses, never them to blame. It will be interesting to see how Labour tackle there own disaster…probably strikes!!!!
As a country we will be OK providing we all put some more effort in and cut out the wastage we see in Government and institutions. I do not want the Government to run railways either, scrap HS2, Scrap Heathrow runway, no need for it_____________________________

13th December 2019 at 3:40 pm #566119 – I disagree, people like this dude wanted Corbyn to take a firm remain stance, but it was leave areas labour lost big. It’s easy to batter corbyn when he’s down, but labour losing wasn’t completely down to him, and it’s pretty ignorant to say it was.

13th December 2019 at 3:47 pm #56612Anonymous…you maybe honest in your mind but you are very selective in subject matter. As a born and bred Lancastrian I am proud of my countries achievements and yes, there has been some dark passages of time related to a different era when what could be described as normal then is no longer to day…..it is called progress. Some progress others do not but live in the past.
It is a point of view whichever way you look at it and there are no winners because everyone has a different view I do not apologise for mine though

13th December 2019 at 3:59 pm #56613I have been in hospital a few times over the last few years and had mixed fortunes. However, personal issues aside, I did see staff being challenged by drunken/drug fuelled people., even to a Police escort at times on the ward. I would leave the drunks in the gutter, if they want NHS treatment …they have to pay for it.. The NHS is for sick people NOT self inflicted misery of Happy hour”
Also, no such thing as Health Tourist….make them pay …up front!!! Yes we can improve in many areas_____________________________

13th December 2019 at 4:40 pm #56617For several weeks and months since Boris became PM, he’s been ridiculed or just plain bad mouthed for one reason or another. This coming from mainstream media and certain panellists for example on Question Time.
Personally, I quite like how he comes across – on the quirky side. And for him not only to win but to received those amount of Votes just illustrates there are people out there happy to place their trust into him.
Most importantly now, paving way for us to complete the process of leaving the European Union.
