Lucky I get what you’re saying mate. By no means I’m in any party mood; far from it and that’s candid.
But what more can I do mate? Go work, do a shift, come home, have a few beers. I need something to look forward to personally and I wanted the Man City Tottenham game 5:30.
Football to me and a Top Flight Programme on a Saturday is important. That’s just my own personal thought and position being a fan of Football from Primary School.
Charles is already out there. Harry is isolated. They are a broken family, yet I know, it’s not about them, it’s about the Queen, but the Games should have gone ahead. We already had Covid 19 stopping us.
Personally, I think the Queen would have allowed the games to go on.

9th September 2022 at 8:53 pm #198911Many people will have lost a lot of money with these games cancelled with no chance of getting it back. In these days of austerity I feel that is more important than mourning a 96 year old that you have no family connection to. Finding the whole reaction a little ridiculous to be honest.

Nothing at all is required of you nil.
The games are off and that’s the end of it.

9th September 2022 at 9:42 pm #198913Three ps and Lucky, there’s a divided view of this exact nature on my work social board.
Lol, I’ve already been insulted by one colleague tonight nationally whom I’ve never come across so not to take personal. Her sentiments towards me was ‘I need a fix’.
Maybe she’s right. However I beg to differ and just wanted football to go ahead. We’d have all paid tributes and it would not have been one grain of any disrespect.

9th September 2022 at 10:17 pm #198915Haha, oh Lucky it’s out there on our national company boards 😀 I get people are passionate and have their own values/position in place on this, no qualms.
I was really really really looking forward to Manchester City and Tottenham.
Forget the Liverpool Wolves game 😉 🙂

10th September 2022 at 8:21 am #198916As Lucky said earlier “The games are off and that’s the end of it.” It’s what happens from here that will be interesting.
It seems likely all of the European games will go ahead in midweek. In respect of next weekends PL games he PL has left that open in their statement of “Further updates regarding Premier League fixtures during the period of mourning will be provided in due course.”
I think next weekends games will likely go ahead depending on Policing requirements for London being one/two days before the Queen’s funeral with the Queen laying in State in Westminster Abbey and many people wanting to pay their last respects to her which will require added Policing.
I can see at least the games in London being under threat of further postponement because of Policing requirements around London which would include the Chelsea v Liverpool game next Sunday unfortunately.

10th September 2022 at 8:45 am #198917Thus sums it up perfectly for me. I have full respect for those who view it differently. I just feel this was a missed opportunity to use sport for something positive around the situation
Have a great weekend everyone. You can go to the shops, gym, theatre, cinema, cricket, rugby (both codes), the races (tmrw at least).
But football is off — even at junior level.
Has football, in its eagerness to show deepest respect, missed an opportunity? https://t.co/9STFBsIxVL— Oliver Kay (@OliverKay) September 10, 2022

10th September 2022 at 4:39 pm #198920Looks like a few of those posts got deleted last night Lucky, haha. Reminded me of the TT days with a few cheeky drinks hahaha 😀
We have a divided opinion on whether the workplace should be open for Trade, shut completely or reduced hours. Personally, I don’t mind either way and if I have to work, I will work. I understand the date has been announced for the 19th, Monday.
Absolutely compelling seeing pictures of the Royal Family. They’re just like us to me. I don’t know what or why this is, but weirdly, I feel in some way part of them. I’ve always liked the Royals than not like them, it’s just how I felt.
My ideal would be for everything to shut after 1 or 2pm, really blackout the country and show Respect for the Queen.

10th September 2022 at 5:35 pm #198923Lucky@4:34pm: Lucky, key part of the statement below.
“It will be a state funeral so it’ll be an enormous national and international event which will take a lot of resourcing and a lot of those resources may be needed for sporting events.
In this case, The Queen’s funeral takes enormous precedence.”
I think football will restart next week but what’s on and off might be a bit hit and miss because of Policing issues.

10th September 2022 at 6:32 pm #198924I think games in London might be questionable with everything else going on… everywhere else should be fine.

10th September 2022 at 8:51 pm #198925Lucky, yeah true mate; the colleague I was in disagreement with I was actually in agreement with, with one of her comments today. I think the Moderators on there deleted the posts to avoid unnecessary squabbles and arguments.
I do enjoy posting on there and have met some good caring people; Luckily, I hold a few hats too of Respect; in other words, they like me a bit haha 🙂

10th September 2022 at 8:54 pm #198926It makes me think at the mo, there’s Rail Strikes planned and or happening. To say the least, not good at all. Cynically in thought, these may have been targeted/pre-empted on certain Top Flight Fixtures.
Conclusion: Another Headache yet again for the FA.

10th September 2022 at 9:33 pm #198927I hope Matches go ahead next week. Personally, I’m not having another week without Football. Covid 19 etc was painful enough. Tired of postponements and International breaks interrupting.

11th September 2022 at 6:19 am #198928I’m fairly certain the death of the Queen will also be the death of Rodgers. I really saw the Villa game as very winnable and could have bought him time, however now our next game is Spurs away. If he can survive that game he then has Forest and Bournemouth, both very winnable.
