On Ange, I still think he did a good job galvanising the club at the start of the season. But I think a bit of reality has kicked in with the quality of the squad. This isn’t really a new thing is it? I think Conte had a rant about it. Mourinho wanted other players. Poch before him I think wanted other players.
On Chelsea, I still think they’ve turned a bit of a corner. It was always going to take a full season for all those new players to gel together.

6th May 2024 at 10:26 am #214420Limited stock for any Spurs Manager and the allowance to build on depth. Even if Ange is replaced, he’s faced with the same challenge.
For what it’s worth, it’s possible Villa could lose their remaining matches, although don’t hold your breath versus us on Monday Night!

6th May 2024 at 10:30 am #214421Can you see Spurs being better next season. People were praising Spurs at the start of the season and how Ange was a breath of fresh air. He is now being found out. What has changed? The squad is the same.
The Arsenal game was telling regarding Chelsea. That was the only side they played who were in form. I don’t think they are defensively good enough to mount to anything. I couldn’t believe how much space they left when they played United. Most teams are pretty much on their jollies now. There isn’t anything to play for.

I agree with you on most of the above. The main problem at Spurs is obvious to me.Daniel Levy
he’s paid himself the best part of £50M since he’s been there.Hired Poch some top 4 success.Never backed the manager.Bottled the league in a two horse race
Hire’s Proven winners in both Mourinho & Conte nada won.Levy needs to back Ange in the next two transfer windows before Ange is judged imo
He has a style of play. Not great atm granted. But from when he came in.He’s certainly earned another season to get his own players in and implement his ideasFwiw I’d rather pay to watch Spurs this season than shitshow down the road from me 🙂
Nike.Just to remind you Klopp finished 8th in his first season.

6th May 2024 at 10:56 am #214426Are people forgetting that Spurs spent 270m last summer. That is more than what Conte, Jose, Poch ever got to spend.
On average 7 of Spurs starting 11 are Ange’s signings. That is more than what Ten Hag manages.

6th May 2024 at 10:59 am #214428Which 7 are they, CM??
The only Angie signings I can think of getting regular game time are Micky, Madders, Johnson and Vicky in goal… and bearing in mind Micky and Madders missed at least a third of the season each…

6th May 2024 at 11:09 am #214430Porro, Werner and Kulusevski. 2 were on loan previously, but they were still signed under Ange.
Paul Power tash, I completely agree with you regarding United. But let’s not move the goalposts here.

Yup, United have struggled to field their 1st choice back 4 for most parts of the season. That definitely makes a difference to a side. Imagine if theyr had a fully fit Varane, Martinez and Luke Shaw all season. I am sure they would be further up the table. Thanks for acknowledging that bud.

have papered over the cracksWhat made you think anyone had forgotten that Paul? Utd fans have been extremely critical of Ten Hag’s transfer dealings. Not sure what that’s got to do with Spurs though 😁. CM is spot on re Ange. He gets an easy ride in the media because he says “mate” after every sentence and because he manages Spurs. Same goes for Poch. Ten Hag has been hammered by the media and rightly so.

6th May 2024 at 11:40 am #214437Look at how Ten Hag was brought in to do an interview with Carragher and Neville after that awful start last season and again now with Neville. When will Poch or Ange get that treatment? Yes, the pressure is always going to be bigger on a Utd manager and you know that when you take the job but some kind of equal treatment in the media would be nice.

6th May 2024 at 11:41 am #214438We’re getting to see different directions from different teams as far as August to May goes. There are teams dipping in form and teams picking up results towards the end.
Gunners have been consistent effectively apart from a minor bad result re Villa. Man City have shown all their experience and ‘been there done that got the T’shirt’.
It looks like they will prevail for a 4th Title in succession.
From a fan’s perspective, The officiating and VAR has degenerated the game and there are far too many injuries. The style too and quality isn’t quite what it is in my eyes compared to what it was 5-10 years ago.

6th May 2024 at 11:46 am #214439PPT, I agree with the sentiment of that point. It’s whether or not if your point was referenced to Ange on whether he will be allowed to strengthen; particularly on the areas where he needs to address like Defense.
Strategy and Set up is playing a part for example, the high-line. I think that’s more arrogance in not adapting to a conventional set up using your full-backs as runners and keeping your center backs deep protecting the danger zone.

6th May 2024 at 12:05 pm #214440Ed, difference with Ange is that you can at least see a plan with him and a style of play that the players have bought into, even if he can be rather naive at the back. And whether he’s being too insistent on playing it out at the back as he did vs us yesterday, or the players are to blame I don’t know.
But with Ten Hag, it’s very hard to discern what the plan is bar just trying to be a good counter attacking team. One might argue Ten Hag is just playing the cards he’s been given but the problem is he’s signed quite a few of these players over a few seasons and they haven’t really delivered.

6th May 2024 at 12:16 pm #214442Most clubs seem to be capable of adopting their managers style of play, besides from United. Van gaal, Jose, Ole, Ragnick and now Ten Hag all have struggled to adopt their style of play.
You can only point the finger towards the players who just don’t have the right attitude. Ragnick said he had to stop how he wanted United to play after 1 game because the players were not good enough.
United have employed 4 different managers with 4 different style of play, resulting in a disjointed recruitment and squad. United still have players who Van Gaal signed.
It is going to take years to fix this.

Again, I don’t understand what the whole Ange debate has to do with Ten Hag? 😄. Why must everything be compared to Ten Hag? Sure, Ange has a plan. So did Bielsa and we used to expose it every time we played his teams. Used to love playing his sides. Me having a go at Ange doesn’t mean I think Ten Hag is better or particularly good. This is about Ange though, not Ten Hag.

6th May 2024 at 12:38 pm #214445Why is Ange considered good enough for United and not for Liverpool?
Alonso, Amorim, Arne, Gary O’Neil, De Zerbi were all spoken about. But not Ange.
