Ed, i hope ten hagg stays to be honest. Bizarre how he sets this team up . Hes not learning from any of his nistakes. So open and easy to play againest. Same tactics since the wolves game on the 1st day of the season. It astounds me how how utd get dominated in nearly every game they play yet still manage to stay in games.
They wont lose this now and will probs win
Still, is it a bit of character that they continue to stay in games when playing so poor?

13th April 2024 at 7:23 pm #213832Yeah that’s it Sean. I get that others want him to stay. We weren’t like this last season in terms of conceding so many chances. It’s bizarre, as you say. I don’t think the players have given up playing for him, which shows they have character. I just think he’s getting it all wrong and, as you say is not learning from his mistakes. His post match comments are almost as bizarre as his tactics

13th April 2024 at 7:45 pm #213833Utd still have some quality in the team which will always still give them a chance. But whilst some of those players may have some character, what I think Utd lack is a togetherness and as has been mentioned some strange tactics in making them so exposed.
But on that last point – have Utd really missed Mount in midfield this season in terms of being that water carrier & energy in midfield a bit like Henderson was at Liverpool? Something you might argue Liverpool have missed this season in terms of being controlled and tight in the middle of the park. Casemiro has obviously missed quite a few games too. Difference is Liverpool have more togetherness and quality here and there this season which has made them more robust although if those players aren’t on it, the form can dip as it has done recently. So in some ways you see similar problems in both teams but Liverpool are more robust enough to handle it.

13th April 2024 at 7:51 pm #213834Realistically, United are not good for 4th, albeit the ability of Tottenham and Villa to drop points, but that’s still an ask combined with the Red of Manchester virtually winning every game. If European Qualification is a Target, the most realistic hope gripping 5th or 6th Place and winning the FA Cup.

13th April 2024 at 8:00 pm #213835We on the other hand should own our points dropped from last weekend. Reasons in combination playing the occasion, being at Old Trafford, playing our arch rivals, but it stinks.
Lol I am getting flashbacks of Ole and Bruno Fernandes 2-2 and keeping now Ten Hag in his job.
Probably Van Gaal was the better spell π

13th April 2024 at 8:06 pm #213836Isak with goals again, what do people think of him? He always seemed to ke to be a little light weight but maybe has started to bulk out a little. If he avoids injuries better he could turn out to be top level. Thought at the time we should have gone for him rather than Nunez.
If Newcastle need to sell top assests for P+S reasons then he could make a switch tononenof the top clubs this season.
I really like Isak Threeps. With all this talk from Keane and Carra etc lately about Haaland’s all round game not being up to it despite his excellent goalscoring abilities, I’d say Isak is the better all round forward. I think he’d actually be better for City than Haaland is to be honest. I really rate him.

13th April 2024 at 8:07 pm #213837I think one of the issues he has it that there is no pace in the CBβs when maguire plays. So he canβt play a high line, which would reduce the space in midfield.
He likes a high press, with numbers, that plus the low defensive line means there is acres of space in midfield for teams to exploit.
I hope he gets a CB with pace in the summer, then he and Martinez can play a higher line.
Add in a LB with a left foot and things will be much better.
He also needs to get rid of a massive amount of deadwood, players who dont want to be there, players who are not good enough and bring in proper competition for places.
Rashford and Garnacho play for themselves and not the striker. It needs to end.

13th April 2024 at 8:10 pm #213838I think we are going for a backup striker rather than a Β£100m player. Isak would be the transfer budget blown and the Hojlund wouldnβt play, so money wasted there rather than seeing what he can do in a team that passes him the ball.

13th April 2024 at 8:13 pm #213839Utd are missing loads of players ed but im not sure it be any different.
Utd were excellent in some games last season especially liverpool and city at home so its just so strange why we are seeing these tactics tgis season

13th April 2024 at 8:16 pm #213840Yeah I’m not having the injuries excuse Sean. I get there are some good arguments there around the style of play and him maybe not having the CBs available to play the way he wants but I’ve always maintained that if the CBs are THAT important to his style, then he should have prioritised those positions when buying players.
Yeah Alfie, no way we’d buy Isak but I’d definitely take him given the chance.

13th April 2024 at 8:17 pm #213841Ye very good points alfie but surely you have to adaot to different tactics if you dont have the players. Its just to easy to play againest with the back 4 sitting so deep and everyone pushed up

13th April 2024 at 8:22 pm #213842AWB is a great RB but canβt play on the left as he offers no threat going forward. You could see him making runs and the midfield would just turn inside and pass to someone else as they didnβt trust his left foot.
I also think he will struggle in those tactics on the right as ETH likes the fullbacks to play in central midfield at times, and he just hasnβt got the technique to do so.

13th April 2024 at 8:27 pm #213843Yeah, they should be able to Sean. Whatever they do they are not great at though unless they sit deep and counter.

You could argue the same with Nunez & Liverpool. I think when teams get to the top they sort of forget the lessons that got them there and they get dazzled by the hot property around Europe as opposed to actually looking how well they can affect the team.

13th April 2024 at 10:02 pm #213847All well and good from their point of view, but they don’t want deep down Liverpool to equal 20 League Championship Titles. They have been in suffering to themselves the same way Liverpool did from decline of 1991.
All Stops Pulled Out 17th March and 7th April
Back to the drawing board.
