16th March 2025 at 5:51 pm #218857This is pathetic so far from Liverpool. 1 shot on target when you’re 2-0 down in a cup final? Fully expecting an onslaught for thr last half an hour but this is really poor. Wouldn’t be at all surprised to see it go to extra time still though

16th March 2025 at 7:41 pm #218858Congratulations to Newcastle and their supporters who I believe will be eternally grateful for this achievement. To beat both Arsenal and Liverpool, this triumph is deserved.
As for us, I thought we would bounce back but really lacked any aggression and foothold in the first half. Credit to Newcastle playing like warriors.
If we can’t take this as another wake up call, more and more teams will be up for playing us and the 12 point lead could descend quite quickly.
Need to regroup and prepare ourselves over the international break for the Everton match. Need to take it game by game.

16th March 2025 at 7:44 pm #218859Ed, we were rubbish in the first half and didn’t turn up. Newcastle wanted it more than us. Jota really has been off it since coming back from injury. Nunez is Nunez and Salah was just blocked out first half.
It’s a little all over the place and the players playing regularly are tired. Hopefully after the inter break, we come back to life and win the 15 or so points we need.

16th March 2025 at 8:10 pm #218860Yeah the league is wrapped up now Nil so should have plenty of time to find some form now. Very strange performance today from your lot though. Not wanting it enough in a final is inexcusable.

16th March 2025 at 8:40 pm #218861Yeah Ed, been reading comments from our fans from different platforms online and do agree with comments on players overused. Slot has rightly been criticized in my view for not opting for alternatives e.g. Endo, Elliot, Chiesa as starters.
Also as a deep dive, I think we need to genuinely consider replacing the full-backs and a potential VVD replacement, maybe Salah too.
I am now understanding Ed where you were coming from the other day with the quality of the league and Arsenal. Maybe that’s been the good fortune of them not pushing us as much. Sure hope we don’t throw away a 12 point lead.

16th March 2025 at 8:41 pm #218862Well, one slight consolation for me; selected and captained Bruno and he’s got me 2 assists this evening! 🙂

16th March 2025 at 9:20 pm #218863Bruno can’t put a foot wrong at the moment Nil. Has to be one of the best in the league on current form. Don’t know where we’d be without him

16th March 2025 at 9:31 pm #218864Yeah, just seen those highlights Ed; Bruno looks very chilled and happy; he’s been immense of late. Happy for Rasmus and Garnacho getting on the scoresheet. Leicester just doomed for the trapdoor unfortunately.

17th March 2025 at 6:08 am #218865Ed, nowhere to be seen for weeks but as soon as Liverpool have a bad game he’s back. This a Man Utd supporter coping mechanism?

17th March 2025 at 6:37 am #218866Not had much to write about my team as we’ve been so shite Threeps 😅. Also after all the talk in the media about a Liverpool treble, it has indeed given me some joy in an otherwise very forgettable season for my own team.

17th March 2025 at 6:45 am #218867It’s also been a very uneventful season in general, for me. My own team have been awful. There’s been no title race. No relegation dogfight. Hardly any exciting CL matches. There’s just been very little to write about, thinking about it. Even the January window was a pretty quiet one all around.

17th March 2025 at 8:20 am #218868Agree with Sweedy, hard to cheer when you don’t have a dog in the race… fell asleep during the Spuds game yesterday… watched a bit of the Final, turned it over when the ejaculating pair of Ant & Dec filled my screen…enough to put anybody off thier tea, I can tell you.

17th March 2025 at 9:40 am #218869Can’t lie, not feeling too great this morning to say the least. Didn’t really want to mention this, but in recent months, not been sleeping to great and have anxiety.
This is part of being on the other side of being a football supporter, dealing with set-backs. This all proves how quickly things can change. We were built up by the media about a Treble, and now we’re reduced to one Trophy and that in itself isn’t done yet.
Once the Inter breaks are finished, Arsenal play first and they could easily trim our lead to 9 points. We could draw the Mersey derby, then lose to Fulham because now, our confidence levels have been affected and Slot’s major job is to pick us up from this. Some out there will wait to see if we collapse.
This time of the year like last year is our weakness; overusing players, not investing the way we should do which has to be a must in the summer. Defenders and Attackers definitely needed. We can compete for 4 competitions, but inevitably will fold up once we reach a certain point of the season.
Maybe the timing of all this will help us with the 2 week break. If we can pick ourselves up and win 2/3 games in a row, this will definitely take away any doubt.

17th March 2025 at 9:44 am #218870I don’t have a problem at all with Newcastle fans celebrating, including Shearer, and Ant and Dec!!
Joelinton, however did accentuate his expression a little bit too much y’day everytime he won a challenge. Maybe one our players could have exhibited that type of attitude and behaviour.
Everyone else from their side seem good; maybe it came as a surprise, but ultimately, they turned up and we didn’t and they wanted it more and deserved it.

17th March 2025 at 9:56 am #218871This is an example of a headline that in my view can be pick up by the media and misinterpreted https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football
The problem I’ve had in the past with Bruno is his conduct, but of late, he’s changed. The criticism and the backlash at the time was probably justified and having watched his interview with Sky yesterday, he was nothing but respectful and kind.

17th March 2025 at 7:30 pm #218872I couldn’t be happier for Newcastle and their fans…seriously brilliant and the fans reaction encapsulates why we all love this game so much…
Compared to their team in the final 2 years ago they now have a brilliant powerful team who can beat most of Europes best in a one off match…and didn’t have a last minute 3rd choice keeper who hadn’t played a competitive EPL standard match for over 2 years between the sticks…I think the narrative of “not wanting it enough” in a final, is not an honest intelligent football conversation… Fatigue is a real thing that has plagued the LFC squad season after season around March. The difference this year is no Klopp gegen press,African nations cup for Mane, Salah etc and the strongest bench they’ve had in seasons. Slots failing starting being voiced by the Kop in November was he continually used the same squad players match after match ..every LFC fan I know has forecast this weeks events for months..(and no signings in 2 windows to ease the load). I would love someone to tell VVD or Mcallister they approached this final casually…
Great opportunity for the new LFC management team to make big adjustments this Summer for the unique demands of the EPL next season.._____________________________

17th March 2025 at 10:00 pm #218873Mikey F, some good points made; made me think about the days when the Transfer Window used to be open till the 31st, March. It really makes me wonder behind the scenes as to whether from pitch side, the board have been challenged as to whether or not there has been any vision rubbed-stamped to strengthening the squad?
I don’t like to say this, but FSG has done us a dis-service. No squad of this stature can compete and win All 4 Cup Competitions. A lot to some extent of it being justified, made of Slot not having faith in starting players beyond his regular 11. Maybe from what took place against Plymouth, that may have influenced him to be more cautious.
This was weeks back. Question Marks undoubtedly on Jota and Diaz. The Midfield look absolutely worn out. If you look at the example of Klopp’s squad that won the Title in 2020, we had Firmino and Mane as make up of a front 3, and still had good fringe players like Milner and Origi that were Gamechangers.
March is where the damage has happened in recent times, but somehow in 2022, we pushed Man City all the way. We’re in need of a lot of Pace and Aggression. Those are the type of players we need to be thinking about.
It has to now be the scope of Slot’s new era and the type of players he would like to bring in.
