Even the Goonies could beat the Champions of Spaib…. and I’d fancy us Spuds to give ’em a run for thier money… 🙂

I’m not sure we’re talking about the same thing Sean as you’re talking about how much clubs have spent. That has nothing to do with where that at quality wise. This has to be the worst any of the top sides have been for a long time, Liverpool aside. That they’ve spent money is beside the point. It just means they’ve spent badly. A side like Forest gets nowhere near the top 4 in the last 20 or so seasons. It’s not Liverpool’s fault l. They’ve been the only consistent side. Just as Leicester were the only consistent side when they won it. It wasn’t their fault either that so many sides were off it at once. Put it this way, does anyone think the usual top sides will all be THIS bad next season? I’m not sure many would say yes.

Yeah agree Chucky and I don’t think Bruno gets anywhere near our all time team. Everyone is way off all at once. Full credit to Liverpool for taking advantage of that. Arsenal should have been all over this title but they’re the biggest bottlers around.

Ed, to be honest we hear that every year about teams will be better the next season. I agree about city. Absolutely massive surprise . Will they spend another 200m in tye summer as kdb, gundigan, silva , edersin all seen to be done there.

Spurs, utd, chelsea are just terrible. Cant see any of them pushing on anytime soon

Arsenal should have been better this season but they fecked it up in the summer. Manager is to negative. Hes spent 750m but the only solution we keep hearing is to buy a striker. Will he get the striker? He paid 65m for havertz and played him ad a 9. Can he be trusted with more money. City might get better but arsenal? Not so sure mate

Arsenal downfall is areta this season.

Taking the piss out your spelling, Waspy, the Goonies couldn’t beat their own todger at the moment.

(Unless you really think their is a country called Spaib, in which case, my special little friend, cyber hugs and kisses!)

Yeah you’re probably right Sean. Whether temporary or longer term, those sides are all massively off it. As I say, you have to give credit to Liverpool for taking advantage of that. That’s all you can do. You’d expect City to be back next year unless they’re booted out. Chelsea surely will have to improve with their quality. It’s hard to see that Utd won’t improve in some way. Spurs, who knows.

                    Next season predictions…

For Pool, all depends on who goes, if all three of TAA, Mo & DVD bugger off, they’re going to drop back…

Goonies, if they spunked everything on Isak (can see that happening), they’ll be favorites.

Forest, with CL cash and some smart buys, still in with a shout of CL places…

Jammy Todgers, probably spend another 300 million, but all about keeping hold of Palmer…

115… going to need to spend anoter boatful to finish Top4, Pepe’s biggest managerial challenge!!

Brighton, Villa & Bournemouth… be there or there abouts, they’ll sell some players, buy some players, can’t see any of them improving with regards to leagur position…

Spuds/YooUtd… proper Jekyll & Hyde clubs… YooUtd are rumored to be in FFP trouble, need to sell before they can buy, can they sell enough to buy enough?? And Spuds??? Crystal Ball for that one, most likely a new manager who will for sure want some new players… certainly have a quality youngsters coming through but I think one or two “veterans” are needed… and by all accounts have the cash to splash!! Could suddenly appear Top3… could still finish 11th… 🙂

I offer a different view to yours Editor… So if for instance Liverpool (already favourites apparently) win the CL this year are we saying Liverpool are “taking advantage” of all the biggest teams in Europe’s top teams being far weaker than before too? City spent £200 in January, PSG bought Kvaratskhelia.

Have you considered that now most of the Premiership teams have proper funding, deep pockets lined by “immediate success spending hierarchy teams” Chelsea, Man U wit little to show yet for eye watering outlay… this contributes to a league that has far greater competition by clubs who have players playing for the badge and not players going through the motion kissing it and taking the wage… Caicedo £115, Enzo £107, Lavia £55, Cucurella £66k … its not a bad season its a hollow investment shell with players that are getting found out by Brighton, Forest etc and hopefully will continue to have poor seasons unless FFP continues the big spenders another chance to buy a squad in a couple of seasons…
I hear a lot of Utd fans contenting themselves with the narrative that Liverpool are benefitting from a one off failure of ALL the competing clubs and this is a unique event compared to all the seasons preceding against teams with smaller squads, devastating injuries and youth team players filling their benches..

I see a different European landscape developing to what has gone before certainly in the EPL …

My Monster Munch is on that Spaibish mob, the ones that play in the Spurs kit…. the only reason the bookies might have Pool down as favourites is too simply “protect” the balance sheet due to all the optimistic pool fans sticking their giros on it… 🙂

This is definitely not only Utd fans saying this Mikey. I’ve been hearing this a lot. In fairness, a lot of fans said the same when Leicester won it. Did they care when they lifted the title? Of course not. A title is a title. Nobody remembers how strong the competition was a few years down the line. In fact, people were saying the exact same thing when Mourinho took a poor Utd to a 2nd placed finish. “You’re only there because everyone else is having an off season”. Looking back, there’s probably a lot of truth in that. Similarly when Ole came 2nd with us. We took advantage of everyone else being pretty rubbish all at once. No shame in that.

Putting aside the issues of the so-called clubs expected to challenge or dominate, there are teams that really should be given the credit they deserve.

They have raised their standards and achieved progress in the league. What we have witnessed is these teams able to genuinely compete toe-to-toe against the Big-Boys. The points taken off one other reflects the league table as apart from Liverpool, Arsenal and Forest, there is a steady Gradient and the points gap between each place in the league isn’t significantly different (park aside, Leicester, Ipswich and Southampton). Many now as pointed out have been invested in. So we have Stadia, training grounds, coaching staff, player development/players bought.

Tactics and style of play is a little under-looked and teams approaching boldly without fear.

Man City undoubtedly have been one of a kind winning the League 4 in succession, but I think Rodri’s absence was the Catalyst in unmasking more than one flaw in Pep’s squad and first 11. He has a rebuilding job to do there’s no getting away from that.

Man United: In decline, no running away from that either and it’s going to take some time before they are even considered as a Top 4.

Chelsea: in gradual progression but it’s a matter for them to establish a best 11 and sticking more with the same then to change in frequency just because of the plethora of players they have at their disposal.

Arsenal: Saka has obviously been a miss. Arteta needs to come away from seemingly believe Odegaard, Trossard and Rice is enough of an attack to bring goals. Martineli and Saka is what’s needed more.

Liverpool without question have been lucky this season from an injury point of view. It looks like certain things have changed from Slot being at the helm against his predecessor Jurgen; largely, training/fitness/recovery as implement his tactics playing a 4-2-3-1.

Zobo, Gravenberch and Mac Allister have been instrumental for us this season and of course our hero Mo with his length of service and his goals-assists consistently throughout.

We have hurdles to overcome, but those are the factors and Slot and his Management Team to thank for what’s been achieved this season.

Chucks, personally and the obvious player I’d want to hold down is Mo. VVD for experience and Alisson too. We just too to look at the areas where we can strengthen like Left-back, Right-back, a new Center half and a Striker.

Not to change it drastically over-night, but this is the thinking for a new era and transition POV.
