Also experience getting promotion too nine in case that’s what they will need next season π

4th November 2021 at 8:00 pm #188239Eddie Howe is an excellent choice for Newcastle as things stand now. Could have been good for Spurs too.

4th November 2021 at 8:51 pm #188265Not sure he is rover to be honest. Whatβs Howe really done? Brought Bournemouth up which is a great achievement but he spent a lot of money on average players and they went down
Not sure heβs the manager Newcastle fans were hoping for. Time will tell

4th November 2021 at 10:07 pm #188306Seriously though just looked at magpies next 10 fixtures and don’t see where they getting morec than the odd point. Come Jan 1st they will have played 20 games and I can’t see them having more than 10-14 points with just 18 games remaining. The only top players they will attract will be 6 month loans I think they deep in the poo π©

4th November 2021 at 10:14 pm #188308AnonymousYa, I’m with Sean. I think they’d have been better to stick out the season with Bruce. Howe isn’t going to attract any decent players, we know, they bought all our useless ones for huge sums π

4th November 2021 at 10:29 pm #188310Probably another one to file under ‘good coach, not so good manager.’

Would exactly be my concerns if I were a Newcastle fan. When you are fighting relegation you need someone that can toughen up the team, win ugly, defend deep and nick the occasional points. Howe will have his players playing open nice football. They’d have been better off stick with Bruce.

5th November 2021 at 6:11 am #188313The cupboard was getting a bit bare for the Bone Saw Boyz, and I tend to agree with those who think Eddie might not have enough in the locker to keep them up with the squad they have… and getting new bodies in January is hard enough without being in the bottom 3… anyway, zero sympathy, hope they get relegated if I’m honest.

5th November 2021 at 7:08 am #188315AnonymousBruce is one of the reasons Newcastle find themselves in such a precarious position, even if they get relegated they will be back up the next season and then start rolling out the powerful sources.

5th November 2021 at 7:20 am #188316Bruce gets a lot of stick for not doing more with that side but he was no worse than Rafa who was worshipped there despite the football being horrendous under him. Bruce did a decent job in very difficult circumstances IMO.

5th November 2021 at 7:24 am #188317Brucie was always on a hiding to nothing, he was “guilty” by association with Cashly…

5th November 2021 at 7:29 am #188319Yeah, not sure they ever accepted the fact he had managed Sunderland either. No idea why they liked Rafa so much though.

5th November 2021 at 7:34 am #188322Forgot about that, I’m sure that didn’t help either… was never a huge fan of that club (anyway!), such a huge whiff of entitlement constantly emitted from them (even worse than us Spuds!)… never understood it

5th November 2021 at 7:39 am #188323Ye I agree Ed. Bruce was never going to win over Newcastle fans unless he did something spectacular. He did a decent job there. I think they loved rafa cause he was a big name but Newcastle were horrendous to watch under him.
The funny thing is as years have gone by, the top managers from ten years ago seem to be regressing. Jose, rafa and wenger before he left. Why is that? Not moving with the times?

5th November 2021 at 7:42 am #188324Yes I think there’s something in that Sean. Football changes but some are better than others at adapting their approaches or even being the innovators themselves (Pep a prime example).

5th November 2021 at 7:56 am #188326Yeah I wouldn’t be surprised if he didn’t see out the season tbh. I think Newcastle will have a really chaotic first few years until they start becoming a real threat.
