I fancied City for the PL title before the season started Adlab and still do.
Despite the unexpected loss to Palace last week City still look the most complete team to me as they demonstrated on Saturday.
If they could sign a proper striker in January they would be even more complete but January is a tough window to get in the players you really want, they could go for an interim striker though.

Only 2 wins out of our last 6 in the PL, is just not good enough. I’m not giving up yet but ya, City strong favourites, with Chelsea way ahead of Liverpool in likelihood, too.
Klopp and his staff have their work cut out for them, with these results being pretty strong evidence to back-up a request for getting a new player in January (if that was where they stood on the matter).
Not everything rests on us not replacing Gini Wijnaldum but I do think we’d have a few more points had we kept him. He didnt have a great season last time around but most didnt. Most are back to a higher level of form, it’s reasonable to assume he would also.
I hope we replace him properly in January. It will likely be too late by then but you never know.

If you look at where it’s timestamped (really only a few seconds in). This is why I am inclined to think it was the correct call and not a red card.
He is kinda deflected up from contact with the ball. It’s definitely too heavy a tackle but I dont think he’s going to break any legs, if it werent for that.
Im just an idiot with an opinion but I think a red would have been harsh there. It is contentious enough though, I’ll admit. Like the Alisson problem, I dont think there’s enough to make the call, even if both were close.

LD, I do mate. Have you changed your opinion on it after views? This is of course a different situation but I know that if this were Hendo going in like that and if he got a red, I’d not be totally ok with it.
I think it would be serious enough that i could understand it but, for the reasons i stated above, a red would needlessly ruin a match.
I mean, this and the James incidents maybe open a discussion that we should be having within the sport. That is to have a sin bin. Some things are worse than yellows but not worthy of reds.
If such a system existed, I think it would be totally fair to send the player off for 10 mins.

I think my emotions were over the top based on the importance of the game but also my complete naivety and ignorance of the rules, I was just pissed because of the penalty at first and the red was like a kick in the guts I wasn’t expecting!
In retrospect, while it seems harsh to give red and a penalty, the ball was going in and so pool were denied a goal, therefore only awarding a penalty which is simply an opportunity to score doesn’t seem like justice. Even though I’m not sure james intended it, if the only punishment was a penalty all defenders would be better off stopping with hands and forcing penalty in same situation and that needs deterring.
Maybe we forget the cards and penalties and the goal should just be given? Ultimately red cards ruin games as you say, and we would have likely seen a winner one way or the other had that game remained 11 v 11 imo and certainly a better game.

Respective supporters of Newcastle and Spurs should not have too high expectations, Howe and Conte have just started what will be the hardest jobs of their lives. Personally I just don’t see what players they can bring in in January to improve the general position. They can probably improve the current squads but that’s not going to be enough.

Ogbonna suffered ACL injury on Sunday, what amazes me is he carried on and was only taken off for stitches required to that cut on head sustained shortly after! What a warrior!

Almost worth selling Gallagher on that basis.π
Newcastle are linked to everyone even Mbappe it’s purely paper talk Gallagher is a Chelsea fan since birth from a Chelsea supporting family and his dream is to play for Chelsea alongside the likes of Mason Mount he is also only 18 months into a 5 year contract.
I fully expect Gallagher to be an integral part of the Chelsea squad next season Tuchel is speaking about him in glowing terms currently and the original plan was to keep him as part of the squad this season until the offer from Palace to play under Vieira came along and that’s been good for him.
Even if Chelsea were prepared to sell him and I don’t think they will I suspect he would have better options than Newcastle to consider.

He would be very good as one of our 2 hole players behind lukaku/havertz. Ziyech and barkley will probably both be moved on for next season too so there will be an opportunity for him for sure just as there was opportunity for mount

Sean I know you don’t like the high line but I seriously think if we didn’t play it we would be battling it out for the last europa spots. If our midfield pressed better then then the issues wouldn’t happen. If the defence followed Klopps instructions to drop when the midfield press fails then the issues wouldn’t happen. See Klopp give VvD a bollocking during the Brighton game?
The high line is one of the best tools in liverpools arsenal, just at the moment there are a few things not going 100% to plan.

Sean, Antonio said in his post match interview that West Ham had identified that Liverpool were vulnerable defending corners 2 goals came from corners.
On another day Liverpool would have probably got something from that game. I was fully expecting Salah to work his magic and get a goal or two but for whatever reason he wasn’t quite at the same level of previous games I guess he is only human after all.π
I think we might all be playing for the places behind City.
