Things can change. Things have changed. Do we analyze weekly who will go on to win the Title or whether our chances are hampered and that we’re just not good enough.
We can be too despondent. 4 points is better than being 10 or 14 points behind.
We struggled in essence to cope with West Ham’s game plan and they exploited our weakness and as much as I dislike their style, hats off to them. They closed in and narrowed the spaces. We struggled to get past their lines. In those situations, you just have to keep probing and pressing or be able to come up with something different and spontaneous.
Maybe we lack something different and creative. Perhaps the substitutions could have been made sooner. We were too relaxed at times and you can’t afford to switch off in this league even for a second.
Yeah, I am getting tired of the same commentators commentating our games in particular. The narrative especially that’s negative. It’s only one defeat. In context, Chelsea have gained 1 extra point this week and Man City and West Ham have over taken us, but it’s quite a close knit league and I’m sure teams will be swapping places and as far as I see, nobody is running away with it.

7th November 2021 at 6:59 pm #188615AnonymousCheers Nine and ya, I havent conceded the title but my hopes have taken huge dents. I had a picture of all the things that we’d recover from (regards last season) and I think most of it mis kinda correct but our conceding so many chances is just a massive question mark and it will have to be dealt with before it’s too late. I may have not given up hope but the title challenge is on the verge of stretching uncomfortably.
Yourself, Lucky and the City lads will take a lot of comfort is seeing that we have some things to work out and fast. If I look at City and Chelsea, I don’t see the same flaw, or a comparable undermining weakness and this why people are writing us off.
Again though, credit to West Ham, I thought they were brilliant. Fully deserved the win.

7th November 2021 at 7:00 pm #188616Mak, this reminded me a little of our defeat at Watford 2 seasons ago. The positive today was having Fabinho back. What we lacked today was the creativity and a bit more drive up the top. Perhaps we missed Firmino today.
Try not to feel too down mate. It’ll definitely get better.

7th November 2021 at 7:00 pm #188617Mak, I agree the injuries in midfield have undoubtedly exacerbated things. But football as we’ve said before is a game won by the team who make the fewer mistakes. We can maybe also point to Alisson today. But the cracks have been there for some time now. And Klopp just keeps persisting with the 433 and a high line.

7th November 2021 at 7:06 pm #188619AnonymousI guess this is where we disagree, as I like what the 433 and high line affords us. It gives us some problems in defence but this can be mitigated if we improve. We have defended just fine playing in this system in the past, over long enough spells that teams had their chances to figure us out and couldn’t. Klopp won’t change the high line because losing it would destroy his entire gameplan.
At the risk of annoying people, I just feel we need to buy Wijnaldum back. That or get someone who is of a high enough level in. You wont win anything by starting Ox.

7th November 2021 at 7:08 pm #188620And if he never was going to change the system, he perhaps should have pushed the owners more in the summer for more cover in midfield. I know it will be said that’s a very risky game to play, and managers and owners can start to fall out and relationships break down. But then the manager is left looking exposed when a few injuries happen and he then doesn’t look good.

7th November 2021 at 7:42 pm #188623Reality is Liverpool lost a game today that on another day had things gone their way they could easily have come away with at least a draw and up until today they were unbeaten.
I missed the first 10 minutes but on looking at the re runs of the Creswell incident on another day under another Ref he could have been sent off which would have completely changed the game.

8th November 2021 at 3:19 am #188628AnonymousNine, the more I have looked at that incident though, the more glad I am that he wasnt sent off. I think the seriousness of the tackle was exaggerated by the action of how he’s hit the ball.
It was definitely reckless and could have ended in a serious injury but I think a red would have been harsh. Im just glad that it didnt end in an injury and if we are going to win a game, this wasnt the kind of foul that the game should be changed by.

8th November 2021 at 3:22 am #188629AnonymousI suppose a change was the right call at Villa. On the bright side, this shouldn’t tarnish Dean Smith’s reputation as Villa were always going to be on a downward trend after selling Grealish. A new manager might get more out of that group of players though, as they are heading towards relegation, as things stand. They really should be too good to go down but that remains to be seen, whether or not it’ll be the case.

8th November 2021 at 7:15 am #188632The dust has settled, and although I’m slightly disappointted we didn’t beat an out-of-sorts Everton side, a clean sheet and a point away from home against an organized Rafa team isn’t to be sniffed at…
It was a game of few clear cut chances from either side, neither side really deserving of the 3 points (although I do think we might have “got away with one” with regards to the peno) in my humble opinion…
Now we have this years final “break”, and with our next 5 games being Leeds (H), Burnley (A), Brentford (H), Norwich (H) and Brighton (A) lets see of Conte can work his magic… not the hardest set of fixtures…

8th November 2021 at 11:21 am #188644Don’t think Matinex will leave Belguim during World Cup year (more or less) to go to Villa… could be a good move fot Wellard Gerrard, let him cut his teeth in the Prem a bit before the LiVARberoOol gig… (although I reckon the world and his wife would rather watch him go straight to Wembly rather than the Brixton Acadamy, be a much better “show” for the rest of us! 🙂 )

8th November 2021 at 4:32 pm #188649I am beginning to fancy us a bit more.
Fixtures away so far Tottenham, Brighton, Liverpool, Chelsea, United, Leicester.
That’s 6 out of 11 games. We Played Spurs with a depleted team and Brighton when they were fourth. Every team will drop points (including us) but I think with those away fixtures gone it doesn’t bode too badly._____________________________

8th November 2021 at 4:42 pm #188650You’re also going to be hit less (at all?) when the afcon starts. Liverpool lose most of their strike force, Chelsea their no 1 keeper. Safe to say City are favorites.
