Rover, no idea who that source is but according to Fabrizio Romano, Conte is just waiting for the call from Utd. Utd is apparently a side he’ll make an exception for.
To be clear about Antonio Conte. Heβs never been a fan of joining clubs during the season as itβs not in his style – the only club right now that could change Antonio's mind is Manchester United π΄ #MUFC

30th October 2021 at 11:37 am #187591Conte would fix United imo but he is volatile a heavy spender in the transfer market and he would insist on complete control and probably would go no longer than two seasons.
United won’t appoint Conte or anyone else until they sack Ole and currently they are reluctant to do that.

30th October 2021 at 12:01 pm #187594Fans are fans and from experience of being a Liverpool supporter and under-achieving, I can relate. What disgusts me however is the treatment from the Media and it seems on a daily basis. It’s as if they are trying to hound the man out of a job.
There’s a side to Ole that shows he’s genuinely into the job and his heart’s with Man United. I think what let’s himself down slightly is holding his hands up first time right and just admit to not being good enough. Keep the sentencing clear and concise and try not to be forced into over elaborating the context.

30th October 2021 at 12:08 pm #187595Ed, yes there is indeed nostalgia also at play in wanting to bring in a new Ferguson type figure back or someone who will play their way. But do you prioritise that vs actually winning things? You can see their theory – bring someone in, like Ole, who as you say at least throws in the youngsters even if the football isn’t great. And then, this season, you throw in some star names like Varane & Ronaldo and cross your fingers that that will take care of the winning & attacking football side of things. Well that has proved to be disastrous this season because Ole isn’t quite as good as they thought. And the board must be starting to scratch their heads now, thinking, now what do we do?

30th October 2021 at 12:17 pm #187598Nil, the longer it goes on the worse it will get.
The reality is Ole is not up to the task at United and it would be kinder for United to put him out of his misery.
If you lose 5 nil at home with a woeful performance on the back of previous poor performances and results you’re open to criticism you don’t get to manage a top Club and earn circa Β£7m a year and not get criticised when results are so poor.
As Pep said yesterday βNobody can survive without results No one No Koeman no Pep no one” doesn’t matter who you are if you don’t win football games you’ll get criticised from all quarters inc the media.

30th October 2021 at 1:08 pm #187602Hope Arsenal go on to win this. Leicester now have woken up, but really they’ve not been into it this in essence.

30th October 2021 at 1:20 pm #187605Him & Roberto Martinez like two peas in a pod Ed. All looks very nice, but it tends to crumble in the big moments.

30th October 2021 at 1:25 pm #187607Nine, I do understand the pressure surrounding Ole, but I wouldn’t necessarily agree for criticism for example on Managers who have already delivered success, e.g. Pep. That would be harsh. The same on Jurgen Klopp last season for some fans actually called for him to go.
Sure, you’re not getting results consistently and you’ve tried everything possible as well as been given time, then yes, I agree about cutting your losses.
It’s the treatment though at times. Perhaps though, it’s the times we live in with social media imposing more spotlight. It’s always been around in all quarters of football, but now with the world wide web, there’s less of a hiding place for these people under fire.

30th October 2021 at 1:27 pm #187608I think the amount of Managerial changes United have gone through in the last 8 years almost equates to the same amount as Liverpool from 1990 to 2016.

30th October 2021 at 1:32 pm #187609I can’t ever see Rodgers to utd happening Ed. He was deemed not good enough for Liverpool in the end, can we really say he’s a much better manager now? Handling big egos I feel was his weakness, as well as a little naive, likely less so now. It just seems so far fetched to me. Surprised some utd fans on another site that shall not be named calling for him.

30th October 2021 at 1:35 pm #187610No I agree Harry. He’s not good enough in my opinion.
Probably getting to the point where we should move Utd/Ole talk to a new thread on here. I’m probably the worst culprit but it’s starting to drown out talk around the weekend games
