One other thing though, and it’s a weak point to make admittedly, of the 5 games we’ve lost, 4 of them have been against the current Top 6… it’s not been the easiest start to the season and 6 of our next 7 games are against teams below us in the table (with the 7th being B&H who are right above us!).

31st October 2021 at 7:12 pm #187862AnonymousLD, the players are clearly not putting in the effort. They have covered less ground than any other team. Is that typical of them before or something? I seriously doubt it.
If they players wont try, then the manager hasn’t got a chance of keeping his job. It’s easier to fire him and paper over the cracks, especially when the people doing the papering, are covering over themselves.

31st October 2021 at 7:18 pm #187863The LB call yesterday was a weird one… Wee Sergio is way, way better than Ben D (always gives 100% but does lack ability)… but then Sergio is also part of the problem. On his day, he can be a brilliant LB, those first three months when we got him I was thinking we’ve got a baller, the same with wee Cecil and N-Dumb… all proper ballers on their day but all lost their way in a quite spectacular level, and we all know Kane is not playing anywhere close to the level we know he can… and you can also add the likes of Winks, Wee Steve, even Dele to that last of serious underachievers… on paper our squad is nowhere near as bad as it’s being made out… but something is wrong with a lot of players at the moment and I don’t know if Nuno knows what the answer is.
Hell, I’d even think about bringing Harry Redknapp back, you can question his tactics, but I think a few players could do with a cuddle or something… or a Conte rocket up their arse.
I’m actually looking forward to the next international break… π

31st October 2021 at 7:50 pm #187864Mak, just for record, I posted this earlier to nine before our discussion
“Yep nine levy scapegoating managers now and deserves the sack himself he is ultimately responsible”
I stand by that and also think nuno was the wrong choice.
You are making my point in your last post as I don’t think those stats are typical of the team at all, what has changed, well they employed nuno as coach for one. A top manager would not allow the mood of one player to dictate the performance of whole team either.
Anyway, roma vs Milan on the box now π

31st October 2021 at 8:06 pm #187868Chuky….I think the problem was there before Nuno took over, something weird going on at Spurs. Spurs unlikely to get anything from this season so why not let Nuno be given time and if some players do not like him, ship them out and replace them.At the end of the season see what he has built or otherwise. They must know what the internal problem is. It appears to me the Board just want a team in the league in there wonderful facility but have not the interest to have a squad of players. If the Board have no interest it is likely the players will adopt same attitude. Just a thought. It could happen to a number of teams, Spurs are not unique in this. last week it was Utd

31st October 2021 at 8:23 pm #187870“We shall focus on the recruitment of a new Head Coach. We are acutely aware of the need to select someone whose values reflect those of our great Club and return to playing football with the style for which we are known β free-flowing, attacking and entertaining β whilst continuing to embrace our desire to see young players flourish from our Academy alongside experienced talent.”
The above is an extract of Levy’s letter to the fans this summer when he also admitted the appointment of Mourinho was a mistake and accepting the fact that Spurs got turned down by a number of potential new Managers including Conte e still went out and appointed another defensive based Coach in Nuno.
I would be amazed if Conte agreed to work for Levy if in the unlikely event he did it’s a marriage potentially made in hell because it won’t work.

31st October 2021 at 8:38 pm #187871Canβt see conte going to spurs.
Thing is spurs spent a lot of money in the summer. 45m on a centre bsck,20 on Gill who never starts in the pl and royal who is absolutely shite

31st October 2021 at 8:50 pm #187872….and Conte is also a very pragmatic Coach and doesn’t fit the profile that Levy wants to return to.
He would sort Spurs out though albeit it wouldn’t be all free flowing football but Conte couldn’t work with Levy and Levy wouldn’t back Conte sufficiently in the transfer market.

31st October 2021 at 8:52 pm #187873Nine, I think if spurs want to invest in long term appointment with attacking philosophy then how about Graham Potter?

31st October 2021 at 9:05 pm #187876Jose about to lose his FIRST EVER home game in serie A, 43 without defeat before today but Milan too good for his roma today despite very good effort. Ibra free kick for 1-0 and then he just won a pen on counter which was converted by kessie. Very good game but roma lack the quality of milan all over pitch especially up front. Tammy struggling.

1st November 2021 at 5:31 am #187878Surely Roma now have a few winnable games, they need to go on a decent run or else his going to get fired again.

1st November 2021 at 6:23 am #187880NN Managers that join top teams probably expect to be sacked if you see the likes of Mourinho, Ancelotti and others, those teams they join demand success. At the same I believe there are some managers a step of class ahead of those that initially have success and then it sort of falls apart, here I’m talking about the likes of Pep, Ferguson, Klopp etc who have never been sacked. While Conte was only sacked by Chelsea because he is a diffucult persona.

1st November 2021 at 6:39 am #187881Nepolean… we tried for Graham “Not A Wizard” Potter during the summer, word was he was waiting for something “bigger”… and as we’ve got “smaller”, I’ll be very surprised if he shows up. (Mind you, wouldn’t be too upset if he did rock up!)
Woke up thinking we’d be seeing the “Taxi for Nuno” headlines… guess not…
Still, my first choice would still be Conte, but then again, Emilia Clark is also my first choice, and that’s not happening either.

1st November 2021 at 7:59 am #187884Notice, roma are 4th and given the competition to demand higher than 6th from his first season would be a bit silly. Problems may occur if he doesn’t see the potential to improve himself over time and compete with the big teams, because that’s when he will start making fights himself.
