I trawled through this thread and seen posts commentating on the 3rd goal being disallowed. Good job there’s a time-bar.
It’s a little confusing with there’s multiple goals scored and VAR interventions in between.

10th August 2019 at 3:36 pm #45008Head-to-heads with Big 6’s will play it’s part, Mikus.
Spurs have a chance to at least take a point from City when the 2 meet next Saturday Teatime.

10th August 2019 at 3:42 pm #45009What is the concensus view on VAR as it operated today? My own view is that in tne end the more decisions which are correct the better. Downside is I think decisions need to be quicker but I accept easier said than done. Having watched the game with those decisions Im not sure that even though decisions are more accurate, I just have the feeling it takes something away. Cant put my finger on it. Perhaps its controversy = arguement= bias = lengthy discussion. Example the penalty save. It would have been…great save, bad penalty, should Sterling have taken it and so on.

10th August 2019 at 4:39 pm #45011Adlab, I tought VAR did its job well today although I agree with everything you say and it leads to muted goal celebrations too but we’re going to have to get used to it.

10th August 2019 at 4:57 pm #45023A valuable away point for Bristol City at Birmingham and my neighbour Marlin Pack gets his first win bonus following his shock last day transfer to Cardiff City.
Wait until I see him next week and bend his ear about leaving City for Cardiff.?

10th August 2019 at 4:58 pm #45024Adlab,
personally, if you allow yourself the patience with the whole concept of VAR, then I for one find it refreshing.
It’s intriguing already on the observations that were cited out of the Man City game this afternoon.
For the amount of years I’ve been on and off on forums, I’m and potentially relieved of such arguments and petty childish squabbles due to controversy.
Peace and harmony here’s hoping.

10th August 2019 at 7:20 pm #45038A lot tougher than the scoreline would suggest, breaking down a team that scored against the run of play and sat back for the rest of the game. Guess that will teach Grealish for dicking about in front of his own box.
I’ll take it!!

10th August 2019 at 8:10 pm #45043Good Result for your Boys Chucks, Well Done! It’s ultimately lies with the point of Football being a 90 minute affair. Did notice Villa a bit on the rough side.
Kane has got me points! π

10th August 2019 at 8:10 pm #45044Good effort from Villa who despite the scoreline look a better bet than Norwich to stay up.
Mings and Heaton were massive today but credit to Spurs for a second half onslaught that proved too much for Villa.

10th August 2019 at 8:15 pm #4504631 attempts I read somewhere from Spuds…
I wonder what the stats were on Lloris, pretty sure he didn’t need to shower after that game.
Mings and Heaton (MOTM) were pretty decent it must be said, Mings must have headed about 30 corners/crosses/blocks, seemed to be on the end of everything, and Heaton had more than a couple of very decent saves.

11th August 2019 at 1:46 pm #45050What do we make of these managers saying city foul to prevent attacking opportunities. Being honest I donβt regularly watch city but My personal opinion is they are getting frustrated city just have to good a team & are looking for excuses. Itβs no coincidence they bang 4 or 5 past teams on a regular basis, they just have better players than the other clubs so they better learn to deal with it cause city ainβt going to all of a sudden just drop off the top of the tree. I think most believe deep down they will win another EPL title this season, sadly for LFC & everyone else they just have to much depth.
Oh well, much more to life than football, talk soon comrades._____________________________

11th August 2019 at 2:01 pm #45051It’s been mentioned a number of times now and whilst it doesn’t exactly portray the more beautiful aspect of football that most pundits laud over, it is effective. Fernandinho is a master of it and Rodri seems to have picked it up very quickly.
They commit the fouls, they stop the other teams breaking away, it compliments their high line. It’s an effective tactic, don’t see any problem with it.

11th August 2019 at 2:07 pm #45052They’re not the only ones who do it… it’s another “tactic” they all use, the casual “accidental” obstruction, a tangling of the legs…
Anyway, that’s a very weak looking Goonie 11, Newcastle got to fancy their chances at home against this lot.
