Oh don’t get me wrong Nine. Wasn’t a dig at Chelsea fans at all. Just fans in general. The club won’t allow him to carry on if he finishes below 5th IMO. Heard the Mourinho chants today from the Utd lot. Didn’t realise Chelsea fans were singing it too but doesn’t surprise me. The match going fans are usually the most loyal. Although TBF they were singing “F*** off Mourinho” only last season ?. Our lot aren’t any better though!

12th August 2019 at 7:15 am #45124Anonymous999… Chelsea fans like you were calling for Sarri to be sacked, even the match going fans were calling for Sarri to be sacked and, strangely, the calls for his dismissal started ringing down from the stands who upset that Kante was deployed further up the field. A Move totally vindicated when comparing minutes and goal threat in comparison to Willian and Pedro. Last two visits to Manchester have seen Chelsea concede 10 goals in two games. Sorry, that is dismal. Sheffield United would have given us a tonking yesterday.
That chelsea side, in the words of former player Andy Townsend rolled over without a fight. Mount went missing from yesterdays game when united got on top. The attitude and application was rubbish and if it continues, fans around the ground will be backing Lamps and talking about his replacement. Perhaps his record as a player will save him from the humiliation of Chelsea fans singing you dont know what your doing and fuck Lampsball…
Sarri didnt have a preseason and went on a winning run. Lampard had an entire pre season and collapsed on the first day of the season like a sunday league side. Dramatic improvement needed Wednesday in a showpiece game, would prefer the three points at the weekend.

12th August 2019 at 7:28 am #45126well well well
the season is back and the first games done with, such a short summer it feels very strange when the kids are off for another 3 weeks!good opening win for us, tricky away game in crap weather.
a win and a clean sheet, starange formation to begin with and finished with a stronger team!
but great to see so much youth getting a chance as well as our new lads all of whome i am very happy with indeed, we have done great business this summer (though still would have preferred a beast of a CB!shame united got as many as they did that was not a 4-0 game…..
finally…..VAR is going to make a huge difference, been a great start for VAR and the system developed is much better than used in games last year or the womens world cup.
this will be the most real season ever…already VAR has correctly stopped wolves getting 3 points or stopping leicester getting 1 point….fine margins but over the course fo the season its the difference between winning and losing the pL or relegation or not….exciting start to the season!

12th August 2019 at 7:42 am #45127This is one if not, the reason why I resent Sky Sports coverage.
I didn’t watch any of MOTD either yesterday or Saturday night. People read too much into one result on the back of a brand new season opener.
Analysis now go into a full-blown post-mortem; it’s depressing to say the least. I put my views on here, but effectively after the game’s finished, I switch the Television off.

12th August 2019 at 7:44 am #45128Btw, Dave Jones the Presenter just grows to be even more of a t*t and a smug of a man. What he does (to me) is try and make both Neville and Carra argue in order to gain ‘HITS’ out of the Internet.

12th August 2019 at 7:54 am #45129442, actually though I was less than convinced by Sarri and his tactics in finishing in the top 4 and winning the EL I thought he deserved another season and that’s what I actually said if you check all of my posts.
Nobody more than the match going fans and particularly the away supporting match going fans have the right to voice their opinions imo.
You’re right Frank had better pre season time than Sarri last season but that doesn’t help him legislate for Zouma’s error in giving away such a silly penalty when Chelsea were so dominate and really should have been ahead.
I can’t think of a Chelsea Manager who has been given a tougher start to a Season than Frank with United away followed a few days later by Liverpool in the European Super Cup when he’s been unable to sign any new players and is still missing Rudiger, Reece James ,Loftus Cheek , Hudson Odoi and Willian with Kante only fit enough for a few minutes from the bench and with the PL’s best player in Hazard sold too none of which Sarri had to endure at the start of last season.
Liverpool will be an enormous test.

12th August 2019 at 8:23 am #45130Ed, “Oh don’t get me wrong Nine. Wasn’t a dig at Chelsea fans at all. Just fans in general. The club won’t allow him to carry on if he finishes below 5th IMO. ”
No I know you weren’t having a go Ed I was just saying that imo Chelsea fans recognise this was going to be a tough season for the Club the loss of Hazard and the transfer ban told them that plus Frank is a rookie Manager with just one years experience in the Championship I just think that Frank has so much credit in the bank with the match going fans who are also knowledgeable enough to know that this was always going to be a difficult season for Chelsea.
As for the Club who knows tbh I would be disgusted if they sacked Frank for finishing 5th and tbh I think that might be beyond us anyway but the owner has allegedly promised Frank two seasons and I hope he’s good to his word because imo Frank will need all of that but given our track record with Managers I agree that’s far from certain.
I think once we have all of our players up and running we’ll win more than we lose and once we can operate in the transfer market again which might bee January armed with allegedly £200m plus we might be able to fill in the obvious gaps personally I wouldn’t expect to see the real Frank’s Chelsea until at least season two probably season three and I avknowledgd he might not be given that time by Roman.
This season I think 6th place is probably our optimum and it could be lower than that, that doesn’t bother me but it might bother Roman and the Twitter fans. Cheers 9’s

12th August 2019 at 8:33 am #45131Hopefully a perspective. Unbiased?
Chelsea could easily have been two up with a bit of luck and maybe a very different result.
Having watched it again in slomo I think it was a foul by Maguire before the goal. Why no VAR as it was an obvious misteake that led to a goal.
Nevertheless Im sure a welcome win but not sure it deserved a four goal margin?Again. Why was Taylor the referee.? Have they changed the rules? Anybody know? He shouldnt ref either Manchester team surely as he comes from Wythenshawe, a south Manchester (Utd) district.

12th August 2019 at 8:59 am #45132You and your conspiracy theories about Utd Adlab ?. Don’t ever change! Re Taylor, agree it’s strange. Liverpool fans weren’t happy when he was managing Liverpool City as he’s just as likely to be a City fan IMO. Still, I wish it would change as he’s always given us poor decisions IMO!
Yeah Nine I think 5th will mean he survives “… if he finishes below 5th”. I think 6th and he’s gone, personally. Sarri was on his way after almost winning a cup double (Chelsea should have won league Cup IMO, the better side) and finishing above Spurs, Arsenal and Utd.

12th August 2019 at 9:05 am #45134I can completely buy that some think it was a foul by Maguire but calling it an obvious mistake is just not correct Adlab

12th August 2019 at 9:25 am #45135Ed, I don’t think Chelsea even finishing 6th will be easy for them this season Ed.
My hope is that wherever Frank finishes he will be given at least the two seasons to see what he can do.
Just my hope though. 🙂

12th August 2019 at 12:40 pm #45139The Premier League will not be determined by head to head results rather than goal difference if both clubs on same points. Think you’ve dreamt that one.

12th August 2019 at 3:11 pm #45150£40m is about right Mav when you adjust for buy now pay later fees, loans and the Iwobi sale to Everton.
Clever window by Arsenal though.

12th August 2019 at 3:28 pm #451529-They also offered £65m for D.Upamecano of RB Leipzig on the last day of the window,so they must have had much, much more money to spend.

12th August 2019 at 5:57 pm #45155Mav, and they actually bought Luiz for £8m which tells its own story if Arsenal had significantly more money they would have had more significant long term targets than Luiz to fill the key Centre Back gap in their team that needed filling.
What Arsenal actually spent in the window if you take away the Iwobi money reflects close to the suggested £40/45m they had to spend which is why they were doing never never deals, loan deals and bargain deals.
To be fair they’ve done it very well.
