I think that gap between City and the rest is going to be as big as ever this season and I can only see it growing from here on. It’s a concern for the league’s entertainment factor. City fans won’t care and why would they? I think the best the neutral can hope for is that Newcastle, the only other oil-state owned club, can get a move on with doing their own “City”.

Ed, that could well happen for Newcastle if they have the pull-factor and entice some real quality. Even 2 or 3 players to lay the foundations and build something. I think in relation to their own project to try and emulated Man City realistically though, we are looking at years.

It’s not going to be easy to topple them Chucky, that’s for sure. But I think the only side who can possibly get to them is the likes of Newcastle who will no doubt have the best facilities, infrastructure, staff to eventually be able to match them off the pitch, at least. Eventually, that will translate to on-field success but it won’t be a quick thing.
