βUEFA has lifted the ban on away fans attending European club matches; supporters will now be able to attend away games in the Champions League, Europa League and Conference League, subject to proof of vaccinations as outplayed by the national government coronavirus restrictions.

8th September 2021 at 1:07 pm #184623You know what, with injuries, quarantines, and now Brazil banning all their players from playing this weekend back in the Prem, there could be some really interesting games, as a lot of the big-dogs are going to be nowhere close to full strength!

8th September 2021 at 1:20 pm #184626AnonymousThat’s incredibly petty from Brazil. Liverpool should consider playing Alisson and Fabinho anyway. This BS rule should be challenged.

8th September 2021 at 1:38 pm #184629FARCE BEYOND BELIEF.
Clubs say no to sending players to red list countries for health concerns and yet Brazil demand they are banned.
Brazil v Argentina turns into a farce for similar reasons. Brazil…that country with a superb covid record. They are a joke. We lose Ederson and Jesus. Oh and our reserve keeper who is double jabbed tests positive on international duty with the USA. How is this fair? Liverpool also lose their keeper but at least they have a reserve. They also lose Fermino.
We have to play 36year old Scott Carson who is primarily in a coaching and support role and a kid as substitute.
International duty has also cost us Foden and KDB for 4 games(Inc the community shield) and again due to International duty we only had half the FIRST team out against Spurs. Then you get nonsense games like Andorra. Hungary with unpunished racism. FIFA are more concerned about banning players than fighting racism DESPITE what they say. UEFA are the same. City were fined more for being 30 SECONDS late after half time than the home team for a racist crowd.
TOTAL FARCE

8th September 2021 at 1:43 pm #184632PS And yet we allow 60,000 crowds NOT FULLY CHECKED into grounds and we are at nearly 40,000 positive tests a day, never mind the untested. Yet players are banned. These are exceptional circumstances and FIFA should recognise that. They need to be bribed clearly, Isn’t that the M.O. of FIFA and UEFA.

8th September 2021 at 1:46 pm #184633I agree adlab with internationals but they have to be played mate. Absolutely hate international weeks. Group stages of qualifying are horrendous.
Liverpool will miss fabhino aswell. Are the clubs genuinely holding them back because of concerns of the virus or is it because they have quarantine for ten days when back? Maybe the clubs are an issue stopping them playing for their countries and missing the ganes????
The Argentina thing was an absolute farce the other night
FIFA are a disgrace aswell with their fines etc

My gripe is that OUR government advise against travel to red list countries and we get penalised.
Just to make the point:Still current at:

Updated:

Latest update:
Update to information on quarantine requirements (‘Entry requirements’ page)The FCDO advises against all but essential travel to the whole of Brazil based on the current assessment of COVID-19 risks.
COVID-19 entry restrictions for BrazilBefore you travel, check the βEntry requirementsβ section for Brazilβs current entry restrictions and requirements. These may change with little warning. Monitor this advice for the latest updates and stay in contact with your travel provider.
Preparing for your return journey to the UK
Brazil is on the red list for entering England. Check what you must do to enter England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland.
If youβre planning travel to Brazil, find out what you need to know about coronavirus there in the Coronavirus section.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, it is more important than ever to get travel insurance and check it provides sufficient cover. See the FCDOβs guidance on foreign travel insurance.
For information about COVID-19 vaccines, see the Coronavirus page.
For guidance on how to stay safely in Brazil as a visitor if you are unable to return to the UK, see Coronavirus
Although non-resident foreign nationals are not permitted to enter by air and the Brazilian government is maintaining series of bans on entry by land and sea, there are a few exceptions, including spouses, parents and guardians of Brazilian nationals as well as passengers in transit and aircrew. See Entry requirements

8th September 2021 at 2:23 pm #184637Just to put things into perspective “If Silva does play Saturday’s game – he is also set to sit out the Champions League clash with Zenit St Petersburg – FIFA regulations could see the game deemed a 3-0 win to Villa.”

8th September 2021 at 3:00 pm #184638Nine. I accept that those are the rules but why is a business penalised for adhering to government advice?
Forget football. I would not expect my business to be fined if I didn’t allow staff to go to a red list country and possibly return with infection. Why should football be different?
Thus a club that has International players in part down to good coaching etc. is penalised for putting welfare first….OK the outcome of the actions is the lesser of two evils but as we have heard so often the phrase “unprecedented times”. When the rules were agreed there was no pandemic it was about fake injuries e.g. Giggs rarely playing for Wales. (Sorry Ed but true)?_____________________________

Ha, ha, brilliant stuff Adlab.π
No easy answers Adlab it is what it is I predicted a while back that this would be how it all probably ended.
The Lions had to isolate for 10 days on returning from SA losing the players for 5 days is the better option.

hard to say, as there’s a very high chance that Liverpool would be deducted the 3 points and probably fined also but, you have to stand up to BS sometimes and I think this is one such time TBH. I would bitterly hate losing the points but if we cow to it, we’re in serious risk of losing them because of it anyway. Alisson and Fabinho are 2 of our most key players. Leeds lose a key player also but that doesnt make this situation right.
I was unsure earlier but I now think that Liverpool should tell them to get stuffed and play the inappropriately banned players. They are putting our season in jeopardy because of covid restrictions. That isn’t the clubs fault and honestly, are Brazil going to struggle to qualify ?
Fuck them. Play the lads! if they take any points we might win in the match away from us, we can use the anger to help motivate the team in the following matches.

8th September 2021 at 4:39 pm #184648Anonymous“Liverpool also lose their keeper but at least they have a reserve. They also lose Fermino. ”
Our reserve is basically a kid who’s played a handful of games for us. I rate him but it’s a massive step-down from Alisson to Kelleher. You’ve missed out on Fabinho, who is our most important midfielder but you’re not a Liverpool fan, so I forgive you π
But basically, we’re losing 3 key players but I think Firmino MAY be injured anyway. This is borderline catastrophic for us and the likelihood that it could cost us points is very high. I’m really annoyed with the Brazilian FA but if their footballing body is run like their government, is anyone surprised? As you say, they are a joke of a country and just a cesspool for covid right now. I backed the PL sides in refusing to send their players, I will continue to back them if they all refuse to cow to this BS, and just play the players anyway.

I think we’re lucky that the clubs best interests and those of public safety align alright. My interests in this are almost entirely football related and I imagine the clubs will be even more-so. Before I had footballing reasons to be on the right side of the matter, in the past I’ve had purely public safety reasons steering me in a similar direction.
As Adlab spoke of, the lack of vaccine requirement for fans attending PL matches, is in complete contrast of the quarantine rules. I am in favour of quarantine procedures and also I have a strong opinion that people shouldn’t be allowed to attend matches without showing proof of having had a vaccine.
Special circumstances like international footballers traveling, should be exempt from standard quarentine protocol, especially if they are double vaccinated. They could be tested daily and semi-quarentined for a few of those days. Its a total joke because they are then put at risk of fans at the matches theya re not allowed to play?
What a load of rubbish.

8th September 2021 at 4:58 pm #184650It’s a FIFA rule Brazil are within the rights to enact it.
If Clubs play the players banned FIFA can award a 3 nil win to the opposition so it would be unwise to do that.
In respect of Liverpool Firminho wouldn’t have played anyway as he’s injured Leeds have lost Raphinha too if it doesn’t get settled and it yet might I still think Liverpool will have enough and Kelleher has done well previously.
City having to play Carson is a bit of a worry for them, Chelsea can get by without Silva for a couple of games same with Fred at United. Silva and Fred are the only players who will miss both a PL game and a CL game.

8th September 2021 at 5:16 pm #184652Tbh I think going forwards the punishment for such a situation should be based on games rather than days neither Silva or Fred should have to miss 2 games whilst all the other players just miss one game

8th September 2021 at 5:21 pm #184653As far as I understand, if you refuse to play for your country when selected then you can be subject to a period where you cannot play for your club. I believe this is a fairly long standing rule.
If a country has a quarantine rule then people that travel have to obey this unless there is a very good reason.
If you choose to not to travel then expect to not be able to play, clubs may put pressure on players to not travel as the βsuspensionβ period may be less than the quarantine period at either end of the journey.
Playing a game of footy isnβt really a good enough reason to bypass the quarantine rules.
Clubs may not like the rules and respective punishments, but thatβs the way it isβ¦β¦.Pagan
