Bournemouth were always going to get relegated again irrespective of who the manager is.

30th August 2022 at 11:14 am #198374Would be crazy if only results based, yes he lost heavily to City, Arsenal and Liverpool but a lot of teams will. He won the first game against Villa who might end up being a relegation rival.

30th August 2022 at 12:04 pm #1983753p’s post at 6.43 was quite accurate I think with regards to the ‘feelings’ of a majority of fans, certianly me at any rate, even if I tend to be a little more ‘sarcastic’ when I comment…
Although I do disagree with minor points, firstly, not blowing smoke up LiVARberoOol’s ass for being the best of the rest and Chelsea weren’t on their way ‘up’, they were about to do a Leeds when they won their lottery… π but other than that, couldn’t agree more!

30th August 2022 at 12:46 pm #198378Let me clarify for our blinkered puppy, yes, they were experiencing some very unusual success not normally associated with such mid-level clubs (I mean, listing quarter and semi finals gives that game away! π ), but they were heavily in debt and about to do a Leeds (and disappear back where they belong) until they got their own ‘passed a fit and proper persons’ test dodgy billionairre who proceded to buy even more success which they had no chance of achieving by themselves… let’s face it, Tommy Tickle & The Whingbages only legacy was being able to spend so much corrupt Russian blood money UEFA attempted to introduce something called “Financial Fair Play!”…
Clear enough, cyber chum? π

30th August 2022 at 12:47 pm #198379I note Brian said, “it is noticeable as well that the majority of EPL clubs are owned by investments from outside the country, where have all our wealthy people gone? Probably had a reality check in investing in football!”
There are foreign investments throughout the country, not just in football.
Football I think is just following the path of the general direction of the country where everything is for sale and if it brings in money and investment, we don’t care if the money comes from abroad. I think this is the root of our problems – it’s like privatisation on steroids. We’re told it’s great that money comes in, but then it’s not so great when many can’t afford to live in new housing developments for example. And so too arguably in football that big money comes in, and not many can compete with it.
The following clip from the early 1980s is worth a watch from a Bob Hoskins interview with Barry Norman on the effect this was starting to have on London (and we see where we are today with all these luxurious flats that few can afford to live in). So without wanting to go too deep, and hopefully not too political, I think this is partly why we are where we are with many things today.

30th August 2022 at 1:22 pm #198380Chucky, given Spurs last won the League title in 1961, last won the FA Cup in 1991 and last won a European trophy in 1984 Spurs wouldn’t even have been considered a mid level club let alone an up and coming Club.
Chelsea being CL QTR Finalists in 2000 was 10 years before Spurs had even qualified for the CL in 2010.
You would give your right arm now for what Chelsea won between 1997 and 2000.
I think that’s what makes you so bitter and twisted!π

30th August 2022 at 4:00 pm #198382Mikus. Just looking at your post. Interesting as always.
On the basis of foreign investment in the UK take a few minutes and look up who owns our electricity, water and railways. Mostly foreign governments. So we pay high prices for our utilities who pay large dividends to foreign owners. Similarities to the EPL!_____________________________

30th August 2022 at 4:08 pm #198384Threes, Respect your view a lot, I may disagree with some parts but it all amounts to personal opinions about many issues that affect the game.Yes, I have a fondness for the “old game” but not everything was Rosey, I would not like to go back to some parts of it and football in that sense has improved its lot. The human rights issues of owners I have addressed before, we, as a country are no shining beacon and still held to account for events that happened many moons ago. I also believe given similar owners most fans would conveniently forget these things but some also would have a genuine principled stand and who could argue with them but I also believe they would be a minority. The extension to this principled argument is also, does it apply when you fill your car with petrol, does it apply to the aircraft industry, does it apply to Polyester production etc etc. Football is an easy target.Nobody wants to see the bad effects of human rights treatments but as history tells us it will on change with time, although I am also believe it will be continuance of human nature to go to war with each other and treat humans badly, that is happening right now
I think the subject we are discussing is extensive and football ownership just clouds the issue of where in the world is sanity Now, with a smile on my face….City have been doing well, they have uplifted the standard of football and that cannot be a bad thing….can it? City will not dominate the league over the period like in Germany/France. City are beatable and I honestly do not think we will win the league this year…I have my reasons for this.I do hope we win the FA Cup, the CL league. I do not care about but understand the Club and players will want it, but for me, it is not the pinnacle, the EPL is….again my opinion which I know most will disagree with but we are all entitled to that, so there you have it from a No.1 fan. City third!!!!! I will not run naked around the Etihad though as Nine would if they win it again!!!!!!! Enjoy the game not the politics. It was said by somebody..If things get better with age then I am approaching Magnificent!!!_____________________________

30th August 2022 at 4:13 pm #198385Adlab, indeed – a recent video went viral on the British railways – with Europeans who I think own parts of them – basically thanking us for ultimately contributing to their railways thus making them cheaper for them. It’s ridiculous.

30th August 2022 at 4:36 pm #198386Puppy, I certainly don’t consider myself bitter and twisted, I find it quite theraputic to remind fans of both Tommy Tickle and Moneybags that their success is basiclly down to blood money. I’m certainly not going pretend all is well and play along with their “sports washing” campaigns just to be diplomatic. You can obviously sleep at night, good for you… keep counting those pots! (Or is that how you fall asleep, 1 quarter final, 2 quarter finals, 3 quarter finals… π )

31st August 2022 at 8:30 am #198401I thought Tuchel was going to explode again during his post match interview. Luckily he was behind a table.
There will be many twists and turns in the next few weeks._____________________________

1st September 2022 at 5:04 am #198446Chuckee how dare you make such statements of our club and insult 999 a highly respected poster everywhere. You the stupidest poster on here with your poor attempts as a wannabee comedian and clearly have no respect whatsoever for anyone including yourself.

1st September 2022 at 8:05 am #198452I find Ed Howies comments hilarious. Of course it was gamesmanship from Newcastle. He was telling his bench not to give the ball back after 15 minutes. I was shocked when the ref only put up 5 mins. Then pope went down on 92 mins for about 3 minutes. Players dropping like flies every few minutes, two balls on the pitch, tripper conceded a corner then kicked the ball back on the pitch
Absolutely no problem with those tactics from teams coming to the big grounds but donβt Moan about time added on then
That last minute goal was all that much sweeter cause of Newcastle antics. Big win but performances really have to improve. Really enjoy a last min winner
