20th August 2022 at 10:20 am #197923I am already getting “jitters” over my predicted score. I can see Liverpool scoring two, then I think where is Utd two coming from? It would help if Fernandez and Ronaldo (if he is playing!!) put shooting boots on. It should be an eventful game though

20th August 2022 at 11:03 am #197925Blimey what a load of crap from that clip
Klopp was silly to say what he said as was Keown who said what gabbi said but worse like his opinion was valid for being at a higher level than gabbi?
Any big club in any country who falls far is getting lots of air time β¦ world media isnβt going to focus on Fulham going down again like itβs some shock that needs to be analysed to death β¦ unless the spent over a billion maybe π€
Since no oneβs mentioned it again as only 4 clubs really matter on the site letβs ours some predictions in for the rest of us who are only there to make up the numbersβ¦..πππ€£
I think Arsenal will win and last season Iβd have thought loss as itβs the type of game we struggled in β¦.
Spuds to win simply because wolves arenβt all that and started treading water a couple of years back
Palace villa tough to call but I think palace and hope so as gerrard the manager seems to be a bigger chopper than gerrard the player!
Evertonβ¦ another loss and think forest will surprise a few like the did with West Ham theyβve spent enough thatβs for sure!!
Fulham should lose this one if Brentford keep playing as they are wonβt be as easy for them as United but few games are these days π
Leicester v Southampton has draw all over it and not one to get excited about β¦.

20th August 2022 at 11:33 am #197928Nice one Stevo.Comfortable win for Arsenal, Wolves could be a tricky game for Spurs with Nunes scheduled to debut I’m torn between a Spurs win and a draw but I’ll go with a Spurs win, Palace v Villa draw, Everton v Forest draw, Fulham v Brentford a win for Brentford, Leicester v Southampton Leicester win.

20th August 2022 at 11:39 am #197930Adlab… I agree, Barca, is a strange game to have, then again. it will not be a stressful game and Pep will use it for players who have not had minutes yet including young players and try and work to a rhythm irrespective of the score, Barca will win it. They travel by Private jet so no hassle there. Probably a little better than a normal training week. The only downside I see is a possible injury to somebody but that is the same every week and we have to start gettinging used to 2 games a week now

20th August 2022 at 12:19 pm #197933Brian and Adlab, very good cause.
Barcelona announced the fixture at a press conference in June, attending by former Barca manager Guardiola and current club president Joan Laporta.
They were joined by the club’s former goalkeeper and coach, Juan Carlos Unzue, who was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) two years ago.
All proceeds from the match are set to go to Fundacion Luzon, an ALS research charity.
“This is an honour for us,” Guardiola said at the time.
“We want to thank Barca for inviting us to this wonderful venue. We will tell our players why this matters so much.
“It is admirable, and Unzue’s words show that. I am very happy to come. By doing this, Barcelona has once again shown why we are the best.”
While the reasons behind the unusual fixture are undoubtedly honourable, the decision to stage it three weeks into the new Premier League season β and just three days before the club’s next home game against Crystal Palace – has raised a few eyebrows among supporters.

“Why is Man City playing a friendly after the PL season starts?,” wrote one fan on Twitter.Despite the charity match’s close proximity to the Palace game, Guardiola has suggested he will field a strong team in Catalonia.

20th August 2022 at 1:27 pm #197935Nil during matches he often changes formation or makes adjustments, some work some don’t. You sounded like you were having an unjust go at the manager.

20th August 2022 at 4:53 pm #197936So who’s getting sacked first? Gerrard, Lampard or Rodgers? None of them good enough.

20th August 2022 at 4:59 pm #197938Ed, Gerrard won just 3 in 14 now. Just looks frustrated a lot to me. Can’t seem him lasting long at the mo. Think Lampard has quite a bit of credit with the Everton fans after last season’s escapades. Don’t think Rodgers in trouble just yet.

It must be frustrating for former great players to manage average players and watch them struggle Mikus.
Leicester look to be in a bit of a mess to me and they’ve not bought a player to date the Everton squad just isn’t strong enough.

20th August 2022 at 5:24 pm #197940That’s why I don’t think great players tend to make great managers Nine. I think they get frustrated they can’t coach their own natural ability. Villa now conceded 6 goals in their 3 games this season, which averages 2 per game. Got to sort that out or he’s in big trouble.

20th August 2022 at 5:30 pm #197941Also Gerrard did take the job knowing the players he had, and there was much talk of the great young players the club had.

20th August 2022 at 5:53 pm #197942Three p’s, you are right to a degree. It’s seldom though in all the time Klopp has been Manager as I love the bloke and it’s reluctant. I just want him to be a tighter in defence, but also be prepared to be creative at the top end of the pitch because we need to be able to score goals. Admittedly too it’s frustration, but I’m hoping that will soon change.
Cheers

I see it slightly differently Mikus. I think there’s an assumed correlation between playing ability and managing ability that is, in fact, non existent. I don’t think it’s a case of that great players don’t make great managers per se, rather it’s that managing is a completely different skillset and how good you were on the pitch has very little to no relation to how good you will be as a manager. The best (most successful) managers currently and of recent years are a real mixture of good/great former players (Ancelotti, Pep, Zidane, Conte) and former players few, if anyone, would remember (Wenger, Ferguson, Klopp, Mourinho, Tuchel).

20th August 2022 at 6:26 pm #197945Think youβre being harsh there nines and letting gerrard off β¦
He knew the players and has spent a wedge and allowed there best young midfielder to leave and has had plenty of time to coach them
Very much his team and he is tanking it badly because he just isnβt a good manager
