I disagree Adlab. The only logical solution from here is that Klopp walks and Gerrard takes over

23rd August 2022 at 6:47 am #198163I agree Sweedy, Kloop OUT, Wellard Gerrard IN!
Last night’s result certainly puts a new spin on their next game… are the Micky Mousers having a real wobble, have the Manc’s actually turned a corner… stay tuned for Week 4….

23rd August 2022 at 7:01 am #198164You are of course right though Adlab. This Liverpool side are too good to not be up there challenging again. Any suggestions that Utd are back or Liverpool are now in trouble is ridiculous.
The top 4 race is going to be fascinating though this season. City and Liverpool still nailed on, for me. It’s then two from Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs and a slim chance Utd get back into the race. I still think this season will come too soon for Utd to get back in.

23rd August 2022 at 7:10 am #198165If Moneybags don’t win it this year, I’ll eat a pair of Buffy’s pants.
Welcome to the Bundasleiga II… (I wonder if alienating the entire non-Oasis footballing world in England was actaully part of the sportswashing plan?)
Now, the race for 2nd is a bit more interesting.

23rd August 2022 at 7:30 am #198166Yeah it’s definitely City’s league Chucky but there’s still only Liverpool who can make it vaguely interesting.

23rd August 2022 at 7:37 am #198167Not by playing they way they did last night, they won’t. None of them looked even vaguely close to being on top of their game. Hopefully, for Nil’s sake more than anything else, it’s just a “blip”.
Of course, Buffy And His Amazing Technocolor Dreampants might disagree…

23rd August 2022 at 7:45 am #198169Playing like that United are top 4 contenders without further additions which could make things even better.
Liverpool are playing Bournemouth on Saturday who already look like nailed on for relegation normal service will be resumed then with a healthy Liverpool win.

23rd August 2022 at 7:45 am #198170If Liverpool don’t come at least second Chucky, I’ll come on here and say Spurs are the best team in the entire universe at the end of the season.
City were written off after the Spurs defeat in the first game last season. You don’t have a season like Liverpool did and then just fall off that quickly.

23rd August 2022 at 8:27 am #198172First defeat for Liverpool in 2022.
There’s not that much wrong with Liverpool that a return of some of the key players from injury and the return of Nunes from suspension won’t fix.
Great teams don’t become bad teams overnight.

23rd August 2022 at 9:04 am #198173But with a super-duper-fan-dabi-dozi team running away with it every year, even a great team can’t get away with missing an 8th of the season for whatever reason.

23rd August 2022 at 9:17 am #198174Several of us had concerns about the midfield before the season started, but in no way did I foresee this start to the season. To have both midfield AND defensive issues/injuries – and Van Dijk’s poor form – is just too much to go wrong, hence the team keeps conceding first putting pressure on it straight away. It’s not all bad – the team still obviously has something about it and was able to reassert quite a bit of control and had 70% possession in the game. Some midfielders & defenders will return from injury and the team will pick up. And Nunez will hopefully get a good run and start racking up some goals. But very hard to see a title challenge.

23rd August 2022 at 9:28 am #198177Yeah I agree with that Chucky and City are rightly favourites for the PL but I don’t think Liverpool will be far behind them.
Disappointing for Liverpool to draw the first two games in the first game v Fulham they were poor but they dominated the Palace game even with 10 men and had Nunes not got sent off they would have probably won that game.
Last night I don’t think Liverpool were at their level and I think they were also surprised by the strength of reaction from United.
I suspect on Saturday though Liverpool will have a comfortable win against a poor Bournemouth side and the train will be back on the tracks.
I still can’t see Liverpool finishing lower than second in the PL

23rd August 2022 at 9:34 am #198178They’ll be a lot closer to 3rd than 1st, that’s for sure. They’re missing Mane a lot more than I think they even realize, everybody (myself included!) thought the midfield had “peaked” and needed some fresh blood in there, and the defense with Dick Van Dyke playing will below par is not even close to title levels.
Anyway, 35 games to go, plenty of twists and turns in the “Race 4 2nd Place!”

23rd August 2022 at 12:04 pm #198180Just shows me , how fickle the fans and media can be over one match. The world appears to change. I am glad Utd got the win because they deserved it but Liverpool will be back on track next week. City play one of the least favourite teams and may well loose, like last time….at home as well.!!!!!! City do adapt well though so I am hoping far too early to talk about winning the league

23rd August 2022 at 12:18 pm #198182Come on Double B, you and Adders can play all coy as much as you wnat, and you’re not entirely wrong when you say strange things might happen, I mean, the Great Boston Molasses Flood in 1919 of the bizarre Tungkuska event on 1908 were very strange events indeed, so strange in fact, the odds on them happnening again are about the same as Moneybags not winning the league this year.
Just face it, your mob have bought themselves such an advantage and set the bar so high, that the simple fact we’re even debating about who else might have a chance after 3 games says it all, doesn’t it?
All in the name of sportswashing…
Which clearly isn’t working!!

Is funny how all of a sudden one half decent game and they are top 4 contenderβ¦
Not for me they just played pool at the right time
Hell of a result but a one off β¦ until there replicate it a few times at least
No one looks on it just yet an pool were 9 or was it 11 points behind at Christmas last year?
Then Chuck in the wc and anything could happen!
