6th November 2022 at 6:36 pm #200628There are patches where I have seen a clear understanding between players in their positional play and movement off the ball (finding a pass). Other than that, the Defense and Midfield looks disjointed. Unfortunately, there are individual players in our team that are the cause of this. Trent being one. Fabinho is a shadow of the Fabinho when we first bought him.
Klopp rode this one out. Without good quality depth and players needed to execute alternative plans, we’re still too one dimensional.

7th November 2022 at 5:31 am #200635Very unlucky Spurs, great 2nd half, some teams have permanent good luck others intermittently.

7th November 2022 at 7:24 am #200638Problem is spurs.9 defensive players at the start. Only tried to get on the ball when they went behind. Horrible to watch unless they try and play
Playing a very vulnerable team who are also missing big players. Massive win for us but nothing to get carried away with
As Ed had said, spurs have failed every big test this season
Full credit to Arsenal. That’s a huge win . Stamford bridge is a really difficult place to go. Great win
Newcastle getting stronger.

7th November 2022 at 7:38 am #200639Waspy, cupboard is a bit bare with regards to attacking players… Ginja Ninja has only just come back from 6/7 week lay-off, Lucas has been carrying a knock all season and wouldn’t normally be in the squad, Sonny is off doing his phantom of the opera impression, and Richy only has one leg at the moment… this is probably the one game where you can’t really blame Conte for the starting line-up… (wouldn’t normally disagree though, cyber chum!)
Our problem is we keep beating ourselves, let alone the opposition!

7th November 2022 at 8:18 am #200641Congrats to Liverpool, dominated the 1st half, difficult to pick a balanced XI when Son, Richy amf Romero are out &Lucas and Kulu can’t start.
Dier gave a typical goal away, Ivan hit both post and bar and TAA got away with one, you have to ask why wait till you’re 2 down before you start playing.?????
Ed ypou are probably right we have failed at every big game, not good enough_____________________________

7th November 2022 at 8:19 am #200642Rover, no idea how you can say Spurs were unlucky. Would love to hear who supposedly has permanent good luck, too. I suspect you don’t think it’s your own team and would hazard a guess it’s a rival of your team 😁.

7th November 2022 at 8:23 am #200643Come on Shiny, have we been “that” bad??
As you say, certain “moments” yesterday didn’t go our way, and we absoulte.y shot ourselves in the foot against the Goonies (mainly Royal)… I’ll admit we weren’t great away to YooUtd and Chelsea, but I don’t think we’ve been that bad.
Still in Top 4, got a whole bunch of tough away games out the way, and hopefully a fit squad (plus a couple of more signings) after the World Cup. We’re in a better position than a few other teams.

7th November 2022 at 8:27 am #200644Spurs are flat track bullies under Conte, though, Chucky. Look at the top 6 head to head below. Not one of those games have they had a go. They’ve started them all with 10 men behind the ball and only come out once they go behind. His record against the sides around him is poor. I think Conte is one of those managers who does well in an environment where he has the strongest side and can bully teams (Chelsea, Inter, Juventus). But look at his record in the CL which is absolutely dire with all those sides. Once he comes up against stronger sides, his ethos is built on the opponent making a mistake.
Big 6 Head to Head
Man Utd Pld 5 Pts 10
Arsenal Pld 4 Pts 9
Liverpool Pld 4 Pts 6
Man City Pld 2 Pts 3
Chelsea Pld 3 Pts 2
Spurs Pld 4 Pts 1— Orbinho (@Orbinho) November 6, 2022

7th November 2022 at 8:40 am #200645I’ve long held a belief that some managers are better suited to being top dogs (Guardiola, Conte, Ancelotti) and others are better at clubs with some disadvantage, whether that be a lower budget, less expectation due to lack of historical success, poorer squad. Managers like Klopp, Poch, Mourinho to a degree fits in here too, Potter ( albeit way too early to suggest Potter can’t bridge the gap)
All these managers really excel when in that perfect environment but few can successfully bridge the gap between (for instance) overachieving with an less fancied team to dominating with a side who is expected to challenge for everything. I think Conte is one of those who needs the best team to achieve success. Ancelotti is a great example. Was very average at Everton but completely bossed it again back in Madrid. Yet, I suspect someone like Moyes would have done a better job at Everton had he gone back there but would be unable to do what Ancelotti did in Madrid.

7th November 2022 at 8:50 am #200647I’m not sure that’s all it shows Chucky 😁. I don’t disagree with you. We’ve been very up and down all season. It’s also Ten Hag’s first season so I’m fully expecting bumps along the way this early. The point was about Conte, though. You can’t be happy with Spurs’ setup in those games, surely?

7th November 2022 at 8:57 am #200648Sensible hat on… 🙂
It’s not the most entertaining football (at least the 1st halves, can’t say the same for the 2nd halves!), but it’s obvious to me what the “gameplan” is, which is keep it nice and tight for the 1st 45 minutes and use our supposed superior fitness levels to wear teams down in the 2nd 45 minutes…
It would be working a treat if the 1st half went to plan… take yesterday, give us the peno for the shove on Wee Ryan, and Perisic’s “header” we 2 inches the other way, while taking away Eric’s brain-fart, and suddenly it’s 2-1 Spuds at HT….
It’s a game of fine margins, for sure, and the last couple of weeks it hasn’t gone quite to plan, but I’m not that disappointed with things, our squad has had some injury issues the last couple of weeks and soon we have the WC to mess things up even more…
Looks like we’ll still be TOP 4 for the winter break… we’ll see what happens after that!
