Ed, point taken. But are you comparing Mourinihos style of football with that of Liverpool and City. The Anfield game was the exception. It’s more like the rule under a Mouriniho United. Park the bus and hit teams on the break.

20th October 2018 at 4:04 pm #27353At what point did I compare their styles Jim? All I said was that it is not uncommon to not have many shots in these big games and that you only need to look at the most recent game between the most attacking sides in the league to see that.
Mourinho very very rarely parks the bus. Listen to what Hazard said about Mourinho last week. Read what Xabi Alonso says about the different styles of Mourinho and Pep. I appreciate that you only ever see us in a couple of games a year but he just doesn’t park the bus unless in extreme cases. We have been absolutely awful this season but not due to a lack of ambition to win the game. Look at our home game to Spurs. We were all over Spurs in that first half and they just picked us off with 3 well taken goals and ran out deserved winners but we were at them from the off.

20th October 2018 at 5:38 pm #27360Ed,I still think it’s a bit of an odd comparison to justify why United sit back and have 37% pocession with no shots on goal in the first half which is when I made my post. Liverpool and City are both very attacking, I just think United under Mouriniho are not like that, but I freely admit I don’t watch many United games but I do stand by my statement. This United side is a poor shadow of the United sides under Fergusson that dominated the premiership. I am amazed you think otherwise to be honest. No one has any fear going to Old Trafford these days.
Anyway, City did a good job today. Nothing spectacular, Mahrez I thought was wasteful in the first half, but much better in the 2nd when in came in from the wing. He he so left footed it’s ridiculous, luckily that foot is a special. Lovely to seem KDB back. Resting Sterling was a good idea, with the games we have coming up. Foden got a few more minutes and had some lovely touches.

20th October 2018 at 5:47 pm #27361Sarri was also asked to comment on an incident which took place following Barkleyβs goal
βI didnβt see anything on the pitch. After the match I spoke with Jose and immediately I understood we were wrong. I spoke immediately with the member of my staff and I told him to speak with Mourinho and say sorry. Now everything is finished.
βWe made a mistake, we were in the wrong in the situation. I want to speak to him again but I dealt with the situation immediately. Of course I want to speak to him again because I want to make sure heβs able to understand it was a big mistake. I will speak to him again tomorrow.β

20th October 2018 at 5:49 pm #27362Fergusons record against Chelsea was very poor. They are one of the only teams that have won more games than they have lost against a Ferguson United side. Chelsea record against United was very good before the take over too. They just have this apt to upset United in the PL era.
Napoli beat Liverpool at home with Liverpool having 0 shots on goal throughout the game. These things happen in football.
It was not about United sitting back, most teams naturally sit back when playing a Sarri side. He loves his side to keep the ball. You’re not going to see many teams outperform them with possession this season especially at Stamford Bridge.

20th October 2018 at 5:50 pm #27363What’s stupid about booing someone who made himself by his own actions and word’s very unpopular with City fans nine? Do you think we should cheer him on his return after his little barbs.

20th October 2018 at 6:14 pm #27364Jim, again you’re putting words in my mouth by saying I disagree with the fact that this Utd side is a poor shadow of the sides Ferguson put out. I’ve never said anything like that. You’re talking about probably the greatest manager the league has ever seen with some of the greatest players the league has ever seen. We need to stop harping back to that time and right now we don’t have a very good, balanced squad. Mourinho is not perfect but I genuinely can’t see a better man for the job who we could realistically get in now so we need to get behind him. His record speaks for itself and if the best player in the league wants to play for him, he’s clearly doing something right, in my opinion!
Out of interest, who do you think we shout get in who is a realistic choice and could get more out of this lot?

20th October 2018 at 6:16 pm #27365Jim, I was referring to a section of Chelsea fans treatment of Mourinho. But all football fans are fickle and regularly turn on those they used to cheer. Sadly imo, and there will always be some kind of a justification.

20th October 2018 at 6:20 pm #27367Besides, the whole possession thing is just ridiculous. Nobody ever even cared about possession stats until about 10 years ago and it seems to have become one of those things people quote to point score. Nobody ever entered the record books for being good at passing the ball to each other. All that matters is goals and points and City are smashing it anyway in both those regards at the moment so you have every reason to enjoy your weekend Jim

20th October 2018 at 7:08 pm #27370Its called Stats Mav, no shots on target, 1 shot off target in first half ,and 36% pocession. Early KO, I just looked at the score and at HT on BBC website. But like you and the ed say I shouldn’t really comment. Clearly those stats mean nowt and and i bow to yours and the eds knowledge this United side is right up there with Ferguson’s great PL sides ?

20th October 2018 at 7:11 pm #27371Jeez ed that was my main point. This United side is a poor imitation of Fergussons United sides. Yet it was you that chose to pull me up on my post. I just used the fact that you went to bridge and didn’t have a single shot on target in the first half as a example of why your side is a shadow of Fergussons sides!

20th October 2018 at 7:24 pm #27373Ed, in answer to your point. I don’t know who you should get in. But I do not think Mouriniho is getting the most out of your team. Do you? I would however suggest that Benitez could get more out out this United side than Mourniho is.
