12th May 2019 at 8:08 pm #40712Sean, “Waterfall” and “Made Of Stone” – stand out tunes from the Roses mate.
Remember Inspiral Carpets too very early 90s. I grew up under the Thatcher Government and these guys were escapism for many youngsters who’s future’s looked bleak. These bands reached out to the ‘Working Class Man On The Street’.
Can’t believe it’ll be 30 years in August since Sunrise 1989 (I think in Blackburn) The Best Rave Party ever, probably, where youngster back then escaped and let themselves go lol π

Wembley 2000 and Liam was totally out of it, rambling on after singing “Go Let It Out” lol π
Rosklide 1995 is actually one of the best I’ve listened to when they perform “Morning Glory”, live π

12th May 2019 at 8:52 pm #40716Wow Sean that’s really something I was lucky enough to meet Clapton in Osaka Japan. He was staying in the same Hotel as me across the road from where he was doing his Blues Concerts met him in the Coffee Shop and fortunately managed to get some tickets for the Concerts too.
I went to the Auction of Clapton’s Guitars at Christie’s in London which was in aid of Crossroads.
Was on a warning from the Mrs though not to bid for any of his Guitars.?

12th May 2019 at 8:56 pm #40717Slight tangent; I read an article recently on my home city and how the High Street is all but now Ghost-town, albeit a few existing Retailers and Coffee Shops.
The Internet obviously to many now is the first point of call in accessibility, but I read from the comments page of readers of that Article how they missed Ainleys. That Music store closed down around 2006 which itself was alarm bells for where the Music Industry commercially was heading.
I read somebody commenting how that Retailer was great for being able to get hold of Tickets to Oasis Gigs. Now looking at the landscape of it all, that in itself would be deemed a big loss given how much easy now one can be exploited in paying hundreds.
The most trusted of Websites generally are real, but there are those just out to exploit.

12th May 2019 at 9:06 pm #40720Mr. Balance, Leicester had a fairly good music scene in 80s, Carlsboro Sounds was the big music shop and the bigger bands played DeMontfort Hall or Granby Hall.
But to be honest it was Nottingham that had the best scene in the East Mids and still does…Pagan_____________________________

12th May 2019 at 9:07 pm #40721AnonymousSean, crazy to think that we might have brushed shoulders so many years ago. Only 5-8000 people get into the point. I was ta the back for that. as for lansdowne, i was at the absolute front of that. Was pretty epic.

12th May 2019 at 9:20 pm #40722Pagan, always a huge shame on what happened with Granby Halls. That reflects where we are at with Councils and Cuts. Derby is at it’s worse, but that’s a different story.
I’m sure Nottingham was vibrant. I am glad for that city that Broadmarsh has been addressed.
We need that back with the Haymarket. That is severely frozen in time and doesn’t really have any appeal. On Gallowtree Gate back then, that part thrived on the examples of Our Price and when Virgin bought out.
Weirdly, Take That have a Gig in our neck of the woods next month with only 3 band members! From the mainstream Music stores, I used to regularly shop from MG, BPM and Rockaboom.

12th May 2019 at 9:29 pm #40723Of a different era.
I saw (many times) The Beatles, first of all at The Cavern, the Stones, Gerry and the Pacemakers, The Carpenters,Roy Orbison,The Searchers and many others. In recent times, Oasis,Manic Street Preachers, and many excellent tribute bands.
Over the years seen many great bands too many to remember

12th May 2019 at 9:34 pm #40724Yeah…I want to add my congrats to the City lads on here. In fact gj and I are going to have our second date this week and I’ll let him buy me a pint as compensation! Great season fought to the end by two fantastic teams. Certainly our best team for over 30 years!

12th May 2019 at 9:37 pm #40725Adlab, tell us about the Beatles mate sadly I never got to see them in Concert but I’ve told you couldn’t hear anything over the screaming. How it for you? I was lucky enough to see the Carpenters at the Festival Hall.

12th May 2019 at 9:42 pm #40726The only record shop in Leicester I regularly went to was Cank Street Recordβs, great for second hand stuff, although a little damp.
Loughborough was also good, the student union put loads of good bands on

12th May 2019 at 10:03 pm #40729Adlab, must admit mate I got a bit of a laugh reading the echo as the season rolled on. Every day was a different heading on why Liverpool have an advantage etc it was quite funny to read. You’ll have plenty to celebrate over the next couple of seasons mate, your squad is simply to big for anyone to compete with. Yeah we got close but we rode our luck on a few occasions (spurs & Everton just off the top of my head) & the only surprise was it took till the last day to wrap it up. We will never see LFC only lose 1 game in a season again but can definitely see your mob continuing to dominate. You only need to buy a couple of players to stay ahead of the rest & that’s what’ll happen. No sour grapes from me bud, it is what it is. Yourself, GJ & Brian are good fella’s so I genuinely hope you all enjoy it mate. Take care lads & don’t get into any trouble on the sauce.

12th May 2019 at 10:32 pm #40731Well back to footy.
How on earth can one find a ‘heading’ assuming it’s meant as headline, amusing? Sure, squad depth ultimately was the difference between the 2 sides.
That reflected on our front 3 not always firing on all cylinders and the reliance on Van Dijk (largely) and Allison.
But that cannot at all take anything away from what has been the best team as Hightown rightly pointed out since 1990; even better than Rafa’s 08/09.
The PL is no gimme. Any team now challenging have a huge fight on their hands to compete with Manchester City. At the very least with Liverpool, we took them all the way to the Final Day.
