although what city players did was wrong and they should know and behave better it was done on a plane in “private” until the video came out (social media has much to answer for in general)….im sure half the players didnt know the meaning (real meaning) but they could have done as equally….
just seems to me to suddenly hate them over this and no longer like/respect and bahve this way after it is an over reaction….

totally agree mate
i agree its wrong and shouldnt have happened (even in “private”)
but lets be honest, we have ALL sung songs in “that” moment of joy and achievment within football that is wrong…i remember Jack Wilshere on a bus giving the Spuds shit!
no one is perfect i just think the level of reaction is over the top IMHOhad they stood in front of camera and sang or were derogatory about you guys then thats different….
maybe its just me and not being connected with either club playing devils advocate…

Just to clarify here’s my post to Sean yesterday which clearly shows I wasn’t defending or condoning anything.
“Sean, I think things like this are probably best left off here.
I don’t condone what the City players were singing but I honestly don’t think it was about Sean Cox or that anyone would sink that low.
There’s not a lot of love lost between both Club’s given what happened last season but this is a step too far imo despite perhaps the understandable delight in securing the title and a few too many beers an apology and withdrawal would be good from City.”
My subsequent post was with my Moderators hat on with the best of intentions with the Ed not around just to try to keep things from getting out of hand on here which clearly wasn’t recieved very well. No further comments from me on this. Cheers 999

I just think it’s a real shame. I think there was respect between the club’s. ..there certainly was between the managers and I think the vast majority of Liverpool fans have quite easily given City credit for being a fantastic football team.
If there was film of Liverpool players singing a song about Munich, most Liverpool fans would utterly condemn it. Those that didn’t would be the low life brainless scum that every club’s fan base have. I actually would have been far less shocked by this if it had been fans.
I think threeps i’s right…stupidity, ignorance or naivety. But that doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be called out for it

I said yesterday and having seen the bit of video not very grown up and bad taste. Dont like such things.
The reporting though is though the City players themselves did something wrong.
You would never blame the players for Hillsborough, Hysel?, or attacking the City coach.
We have had plenty of rhetoric of the past few weeks from current and ex Liverpool players about City players and games. I think there was an element of up yours stupid as it is.They need, as others, to learn that there is always an arse with a phone wherever you are.

Adlab, I don’t understand your post. It was the City players that did this, not some fans. So whilst you may say there’s always an arse with a phone the biggest arses where the ones being filmed.
And please leave Hillsborough, or for that matter Heysel, out of an argument or comparison. You might not mean any harm but sometimes things can be easily misunderstood on the net and these are very sensitive issues to us LFC fans.

Of course City players have not battered anyone (that we know of!) and this is not referencing what City fans have done either.
Whilst City will deny it, it does appear that the lyrics “All the way to Kiev, to end up in defeat, crying in the stands and battered on the streets, Kompany injured Salah, victims of it all, Sterling won the double, the Scousers won **** all….’ would indicate towards the high-profile attack on Sean Cox by Roma fans. Maybe City players were too stupid, ignorant or naive to know the consequences of what they were singing, but they sang it, and have caused a lot of offence.
I think if I was a relative of Sean Cox I’d be pretty upset!
I don’t understand either how you can defend them or exactly what your reasoning is.

Adlab…you’re a good guy, but listen to yourself please. How would you feel if you were a relative of Sean Cox? How would you feel if you were a relative of the 96?
I sense that people think Sean, Oz, threeps and myself are blowing this up out of proportion, but frankly it disappoints me more haven’t unequivocally condemned the rank stupidity and ignorance of the players involved. Mocking the gravely injured and the dead is bad enough by knobhead fans, we don’t need it from role model players who those same knobhead fans will copy next season.

Just thought I’d give my tuppence worth on this – for what it’s worth.
I knew the words to this song – can’t say I’ve ever sung it, bit too old for that now, maybe the odd rendition of Blue Moon or City, City but that’s about it.
My understanding was that it only referred to Liverpool’s trip to the CL Final last year. The line about Salah is actually “Ramos injured Salah” and the line “Victims of it all” was reference to the Salah injury and the excuses that were made because of it. At no point did I ever think there was any reference to the horrific attack on Sean Cox, I just assumed there was trouble in Kiev.
Perhaps I’m naïve, as I’m sure those City players/staff that were singing the song were. I can’t believe any of our players would sing it if they thought it referred to other incidents.
Not trying to make any excuses, just saying it as I see it.
Anyway guys, I know I don’t post that often but that’s probably it from me until next season, at least. I need to have a break from this – feeling I’m ‘treading on egg shells with one or two, each time I script a post – not sure that’s how it should be.
