Mikus, Re City not having a natural leader on the pitch….I did not mean that as a negative. Citys tactical plan allows for greater team involvement, all players have to take responsibility, however, I believe for certain games/competitions a good leader is needed. Kompany has been great but we need another like him or hope Stones or Laporte turn out to be the one

16th November 2018 at 4:05 am #28199Anonymous“someone pouring money into a loss making football club to beat someone else is not business.”
This is not entirely true though. It isn’t all about turning a profit, necessarily. The Pl is a massive growth sector “for use of a better term”. The revenue generated for clubs that can stay in the Pl is growing all the time, at an incredible rate. it’s very possible to make a loss as a PL club and be better off as a result of the value of your assets increasing at a higher rate than your losses might incur.
FSG bought Liverpool for something like ยฃ250m? (really ballpark) but now the club is worth somewhere around ยฃ1.5B. Have FSG made a profit in all this time? I doubt it and if they have, it’s totally eclipsed by the gains in value of the club. Honestly, I’d be stunned if they would even consider selling the club for ยฃ2B as the future is very very bright for the top teams in Europe right now. I wouldn’t be shocked if the club is worth ยฃ3B in another 5 years.
But that doesnt matter, look at the returns from their initial investment. I mean, wow.

16th November 2018 at 7:06 am #28202AnonymousYes, thatโs true. And all that without cheating any rules or pumping billions into the club. Thatโs a business model.
However itโs impossible to value City as their revenue is all lies and their expenditure is not reflected accurately in their accounts either.
Businesses are, ultimately, set up to create profits though, no sane person would depend upon the TV deal to get a return. Remember that the City owner has pumped ยฃ1.2bn into the club, and that is just what we know about.
You have a heavily loss making club, once true income and expenditure is accounted for and you would need the resources of an oil rich country to continue to run the club, with a brother who owns as airline. You then also need to find a way to cheat the rules, else the club collapses due to lack of finance.
Hardly a business.

16th November 2018 at 8:50 am #28206Alfie….well that is your theory unless you have some exclusive knowledge of City accounts and procedures. Tou have stated…”it is impossible to value City/ Your theory goes on then to claim City are liars…where is your proof of that? The last thing you should be talking to us about is debt. It should be remembered that part of City’s spending has been on infrastructure as well. I think you are reading far too much into something you have no knowledge of, after all, HMTax, UEFA, FA are looking and have not come up with anything. To call City LIARS is unacceptable Alfie I thought you wwas better than that

16th November 2018 at 9:12 am #28207Brian, let’s just leave it at there are allegations against City of manipulating their revenues in order to comply with the FFP rules that as are as of yet currently unexplained and/or indeed unproven and this is seemingly under further investigation by UEFA.

16th November 2018 at 10:41 am #28208AnonymousBrian – I take your point. Apologies, I should have used allegedly in there somewhere. In fairness, I usually do, just slipped that time.

16th November 2018 at 7:27 pm #28221Alfie…ok. I thought you had gone a little too far and I guess I re-acted a bit sharpish.I can accept you do not like City, I do not have the same fervour as you against Utd that is my explanation. Other than that I read your post and we will have friendly banter in the future Iโam sure

16th November 2018 at 8:37 pm #28223AnonymousGood to hear Brian, though I can assure you that I do not have a fervourous dislike of City. I just happen to disagree with some of what has been said.

16th November 2018 at 10:22 pm #28225Alfie, I am born and bred Mancunian, first and foremost. Although I want City to win our matches against you, I have suffered enough in the past, I want Utd to beat all the other contenders. My eldest daughter is an avid Utd fan, she has not spoken to me this last week, she takes it really serious and does not like Jose at all. I bought her a pair of City gloves for driving but she has not worn them yet!!! I must admit it was a bit cruel, still, life needs fun and I do not take football that serious at my time of life Have a good season, enjoy the game whoever it is.
