Goose…. name your bet my friend, name your poison! Any team other than the MB3’s winning the title in the next 15 years…. Kebab? Pizza? Kebab-pizza?

27th November 2017 at 3:17 pm #7991banjo, whilst I get your disbelief, the UEFA President seems to have the bit between his teeth on this one but time will tell.
Current rules allow new owners a bit more leeway in their first season of ownership but I doubt we’ll see another Abramovich or Sheikh Mansour in the PL again.
To be fair to UEFA they do have PSG under current investigation for the Neymar/Mbappe deals and they have heavily fined clubs and reduced their CL squads previously but the proof of the pudding…….

27th November 2017 at 3:21 pm #7993Some fans think they have a divine right to win games and finish top. I hope we do have more “Leicesters” in the coming years as well. Why cannot fans just enjoy a football match?

27th November 2017 at 3:25 pm #7994Goldie…. fining clubs with loads of money is just a way to topping up the beer and doughnut fund, and I do believe City suffered the indignation of only naming 23 players in their squad one year, which in the grand scheme of things really didn’t feel like a punishment to me, perhaps a City-lad could shed some light on that and if it genuinely had an effect or not.
In simple terms, they had FFP rules, then theyøve been chipped away and contested so many times nobody really knows what the rules are, with all the special dispensations. I would love to be surprised, but I reckon the next set of “rules” are going to be just as confusing, with the same results as last time (which was nothing!).

27th November 2017 at 9:02 pm #8000Chel$ea & c$ty got the advantage of building their massive squads prior to these pointless FFP rules coming in so they had squads far bigger than anyone else. Now c$ty & manu are the big spenders & chel$ea are like the rest & cant just buy success. There is no denying money talks & the rich will continue to dominate.
A team like Leicester winning it will never happen again. I had a mate who doesn’t really follow football ask if i thought it was possible it was rigged so it didn’t just look like the rich clubs won all the time & to keep people interested in football. Who really knows but either way it won’t happen again.
Sorry Nil but LFC will not win the EPL for at least a decade IMO mate, don’t burst a blood vessel or take it too hard bud but that’s just the way it is. C$ty are streets ahead of everyone else & have the luxury of unlimited funds to stay there. Manu are the closest to them & also have the funds to stay there. The rest are fighting for the other 2 C/L positions & nothing more. Accept it mate & hope we can jag top 4. If not it’ll be 2 steps backwards yet again. It’s a vicious cycle but that’s the way it is._____________________________

27th November 2017 at 10:08 pm #8003Well this seems to be the biggest debate I’ve seen on this forum to date. Interesting thread, was chatting to the pool lads today who are tiring of Klopp defensive blindness and they just want a full overview of keeper and defence and they feel they are ready. That may be true. I know I’ve said this a few times but we are 13 games in, 2 thirds left, anything can happen but if united drop points against Watford and or Arse and we win the next 2 it will be very interesting being 10 points ahead, unthinkable with the high quality of this league.

28th November 2017 at 8:33 am #8014Anonymousnil – as brian said no team has a divine right to win trophies. you need to get over this whole liverpool should be winning the league because they are liverpool. i’m sorry to say this but the liverpool glory days are well behind us and currently liverpool are very far behind the front runners.

28th November 2017 at 8:44 am #8016I did post a reply or tried to post a reply around this time yesterday, but the site crashed or something, and didn’t have time around that as I was on a 12 hour shift.
Anyway, Brian, I actually agree with you there and maybe with me being on a football forum/message board for a number of years maybe contribution to more bitter feelings and not just being able to enjoy a football match.
Not only that, the way Liverpool play, it’s like sunshine and rain, and that comes within one set of 90 mins with last Saturday’s game being a prime example. And this combined with Seville too. It’s the manner of it that gets me down, at times quite badly.
I’m actually better off away from here in which I like my job. I was thinking to myself that I’ve been posting, but in the last decade or so have seen very little success of trophies. Divine right or not, this is England’s second most successful club and when you don’t have anything to shout about for recent years, it’s soul destroying when reflecting and maybe comparing yourself to others.

28th November 2017 at 2:26 pm #8035This discussion goes to the very heart of football as we used to know it. Today, fans first talk about money, players fees and ownerships. Just try and go to a match and enjoy 22 players on the pitch, sometimes opposing players do show great pieces of skill and I would applaud that. If the opposing keeper makes a good save, I say so. Far more enjoyment to the match. The days when just a few teams were far too strong for the others are gone, now we have at least 6 teams with a chance plus a few “outsuders” I watch a game of football, first and foremost then hope my team win, if not I hope to have seen them trying to win the match. City’s financial strength to day does not guarantee them anything, we did not do it last year or the year before with the same situation. Our owners have been here 10 seasons now, completely re built the club structure and culture and we are doing well, spent a considerable amount on infra structure, all that is still not a guarantee because other clubs will have a motivation as well and they will all battle until mathamatical certanty prevails and we are a long way off that yet.
Enjoy your game friends_____________________________

28th November 2017 at 2:36 pm #8037New Balance try loseing to Lincoln City twice in a week, York City etc etc like I have done, it is depressing…for about 5 minutes.
I have other more important concerns than worrying about a football team, any team. I am not damming passion, which you must have but that is at its most pre match for me. What transpires, nobody knows, so we just shake our heads and apportion blame, as we see it. I think it is the era we live in now, I am from a forgotter era and you may well be right and I am in dreamland
If I had a wish for football it would be fans need to be less tribal, understand the game better and get on better with each other.
I told you I lived in dreamland!!!!_____________________________

28th November 2017 at 2:49 pm #8039All great points Brian and the way the game is now the majority of fans who post on a football forum rarely if ever get to a game and their love of the game and opinions are driven by what they see on TV or what they’ve read on the internet.
When I started watching football as a kid I went every week when Chelsea were at home and when they weren’t I would be at Arsenal or Fulham before being old enough to get a pass from my parents to go to Chelsea away games.
I’m marooned in Sunny Somerset now and no longer have my Chelsea Season tickets that I held for the best part of 25 years and I now have two football mad Grandsons to think about too and although I fortunately get back to Chelsea fairly regularly it’s a 6 hour around trip in the Car and a bit much for them.
Both of our young lads look like they are going to play the game at a very decent level and I felt as part of that and their overall football development they needed to watch live football in the flesh and we now have Season tickets to get them to Bristol City every other week.
Football in the flesh and the buzz of the Saturday 3pm ko or a night game when it doesn’t interfere with school nights is an important part imo of them learning to love the game and there are more possibilities of them rubbing shoulders with some of the players at the Bristol City level which is a big as thrill for them as when I was doing it a a kid with the Chelsea players way back when.
Of course the advent of Sky etc and live games together with internet has opened up the game to people all around the world and that’s a good thing too but there’s nothing to compare with the atmosphere and thrill of seeing the players in the flesh and up close.
Loving the game and enjoying the game whoever you support is what it’s all about whether you win lose or draw. Cheers 999
