Very harsh on Frank, unfortunately to be successful at the top you need to have the charisma and leadership skills to motivate players, this is vastly different to getting players fired up just before a game, it’s not something that’s really coachable, it’s something you just have, I would suggest that probably Frank doesn’t have it, Frank’s a thoroughly nice decent bloke but as the song goes “nice boys don’t play rock ‘n’ roll”
Good luck to Frank, hopefully he can keep within football, personally I think he’d make a really good pundit….Pagan

25th January 2021 at 11:51 am #174324I never saw Frank lasting at Chelsea. I think the club used him last season to help lift things a bit and blood some of the youth. Now they’ve started buying big again, he wasn’t at that level and is simply discarded. Cold hearted but that’s the name of the game today, particularly under Roman.

25th January 2021 at 11:57 am #174327Apparently he had a big row with Marina which obviously helped to push him out. You can’t do that if your team is not performing. But then again his always been a honest type, I believe he will be back when his more experienced,

25th January 2021 at 12:25 pm #174328Rafa leaving his job over the weekend potentially looks interestingly timed now in hindsight. If it wasn’t for the Tuchel rumours being so strong, I wouldn’t bet against another Rafa interim appointment.

25th January 2021 at 12:41 pm #174329Lampard to go to Celtic so we can do the whole Lampard vs Gerrard thing all over again?! 😁

25th January 2021 at 12:54 pm #174330Adlab, it’s been over a decade more of a revolving though as far as Chelsea go, but rather than singling them out, that’s the industry we live in. Forest have been living proof of that in another division.
Look at the way Ranieri was treated after guiding Leicester to a Title.
Adlab, no legend attachment is enough and FSG had to let Kenny go and Brendan Rodgers.
Klopp is not immune from Trapdoor either.

25th January 2021 at 1:13 pm #174331In my view the whole facet needs to change and you’d think with the pandemic, this would have hit home with the bubble finally burst.
Instead, you still have agents pushing for more pound signs off a player. The more money pumped in by the Owners and the Club, there’s always the expectation of a swift return.
This league draws attention to many quarters more than ever because of it’s money. Look how many broadcasting networks there are and more breed of Journalists, Presenters, Pundits (more females encouraged to bridge the gap).
They’re all talking about the same result, over thinking at times and over analyzing to the point when there’s a different outcome the week after, they’re surprised and there’s question marks.
One week you’re in the Title Race, the following week you’re out of it. Pep learned the hard way, but he’s got these people sussed out (you’d think). 6 or so weeks ago Ole was close to the sword. Now look. There’s a lack of patience and time. Maybe it’s worth trying to keep it all to a happy medium. Not to get carried away.

25th January 2021 at 1:14 pm #174332I don’t think anyone’s singling them out Nil. As you say, it’s hard to argue with Chelsea’s approach to their managers as they’ve had unbelievable success with that approach.
The Lampard experiment, though, was very much hailed as the turning point in this approach. A new era and a longer term view. We now know that Roman is every bit as ruthless as ever and this was very much a false dawn for anyone hoping this was Roman changing his ways.
I actually think the sacking of Lampard was completely justified in terms of performance levels when looked at in isolation and not in the context of the aforementioned “new dawn”. What I maintain was the huge error of judgement was giving him the job in the first place. I think both Utd and Chelsea were made to look better than they were last season due to the underperformance of other contenders usually in the CL places. Arsenal and Spurs had their own crises.
I also think Roman showing his ruthlessness has not waned is bad news for everyone else because I don’t think he’ll stop spending and chopping and changing again until he finds a sustainable formula capable of delivering trophies again.

25th January 2021 at 1:48 pm #174333I’d be very disappointed with the club if I was a Chelsea fan. We will never find out but I wonder if some of these players were even franks signings?
I don’t agree Ed. 6 weeks ago Chelsea were top. They brought in 200m worth of players, you have to give him time to get his 1st choice 11 together. It’s a bad run but it was his 1st real bad run as manager
But your right , It was never going to happen at Chelsea though. He was never getting time
He leaves with his head high abd his legacy untarnished in my view
Don’t rate tuchel at all and he be gone soon enough aseell I’d say.

25th January 2021 at 2:21 pm #174335Ed, bad day for Chelsea fans and you’re trying to make it worse for us by throwing Rafa into the mix.😊 Could be worse you could be linking us to Avram.😊
Seemingly Tuchel to be announced within the next 24 hours so hopefully it doesn’t come to that.
Mbappe to Chelsea in the Summer you heard it here first!😊
Allegedly the decision was taken after the Leicester game and tbh we were awful that night all over the pitch bar Mount.

25th January 2021 at 2:24 pm #174336Yeah good points Sean. Once you’ve put your faith in him (whether rightly or wrongly), it’s only right I suppose to let him see the season out after bringing so many new players in.
As for the players, The Athletic (who were first to really come out and say Lampard was under threat of losing his job) are saying he fell out with the board after apparently him saying he needed Rice and Tarkowski bringing in. Hardly surprising they weren’t keen on going above the 300mil barrier it would have taken them beyond had they met his wishes.
Nine, haha! Looking like Tuchel is the one for sure. Just thought it was interesting timing with Rafa leaving his job just over the weekend and Roman’s liking of interim appointments.

25th January 2021 at 2:35 pm #174337Wise words from Pep on Frank.
It’s a results based business no matter who you are or who the Club is if the results aren’t coming you will be in trouble.
Sad for Frank but he picks up circa £6m, he’ll get over it and come back a better Manager for it too I’m sure.

25th January 2021 at 2:38 pm #174338I read the athletic article Ed mate. Excellent read
It seems he had lost the dressing room and the German lads weren’t his signings.
He also fell out with marina early doors.
I think the young lads will certainly miss him. He did a very good job last season and I thought he deserved more time
Not sure I’d be exited with tuchel at all coming in if I was a Chelsea fan

25th January 2021 at 2:46 pm #174339Do you subscribe to the Athletic Sean? I keep thinking about it but there’s so much good free content out there, I usually struggle to justify it. It looks worthwhile from the bits I’ve seen.

25th January 2021 at 2:50 pm #174341Well that’s what the article says nine from a lot of inside sources and I’d trust the athletic content over every source out there.
Be no surprise either.

Then in October they whipped 40 euro off me lol. That’s to fear but the articles are excellent. Best on the internet for me

25th January 2021 at 3:01 pm #174343Chelsea defender Thiago Silva tweeted: “I would like to thank you for everything you and your committee have done for me since the day I arrived.
“As I told you, it seemed like we had been working together for 10 years!! Thank you very much for everything legend.”
Nice message to Frank from Thiago Silva. Fancy being called a legend by Thiago Silva.

25th January 2021 at 3:02 pm #174344It looks like Marina Granovskaia rules the roost at Chelsea, after Roman. Is she too powerful? Did a similar problem not come about with Conte?

25th January 2021 at 3:13 pm #174345Mikus, someone has to have the power, far better than being run by a committee.
Still it takes the heat off Klopp for the time being, Franks record over the last 7 to 11 games is better than his😄😄😄…..Pagan
