Big game next week. It will really show far Liverpool have progressed. Two really attacking sides. Just hope we donโt get slaughtered

7th January 2018 at 8:42 am #11397Yes Sean, a win for us at Anfield is well overdue. Anelka brace was the last time what 14 or 15 years ago??. Should be a cracking game. But who knows what will happen. Doubt it will end 0-0.

7th January 2018 at 11:04 am #11403The little man has no class. and will not win the league on current climate and the number of high profile manager we have in the league. he has to go back to Porto if he wants to rediscover what winning league is. there is no point in fighting with a manager who is not winning the league. concentrate on the one that taught you who to play football in your backyard.

7th January 2018 at 11:21 am #11406Jose obviously doesn’t need the money, so wouldn’t it be more rewarding to go on to coaching a National Team or a lower league team from elsewhere? At least then he doesn’t have to come face to face with other Managers he doesn’t get on with.
Plus, it would be more of rewarding to be able to achieve something.

7th January 2018 at 11:48 am #11407Nil, Mourinho might be a prize plum and an Arsenal at times but he still harbours ambitions at club level one of which is obviously winning the PL again this time at United whether he will or won’t is open to conjecture but love him or loathe him he has the right to try.

7th January 2018 at 12:01 pm #11409Nine, absolutely but that wasn’t was I was saying.
If he doesn’t succeed, the likelihood is that he’ll move on, but with him, it’s just a constant merry-go-round and only ever stays in once place for X amount of time.
Not only that, he just accumulates baggage of others having more ill feelings towards him than something of complimentary.

7th January 2018 at 12:10 pm #11411Nil, unfortunately for him and everyone else Mourinho has a self destruct button that he seems to press in year three. We’re not yet in year two yet at United but all this is very reminiscent of what we’ve seen previously in year three. Time will tell though.

7th January 2018 at 12:46 pm #114209, I think youโll find heโs midway through year two, and it would seem heโs arming the self destruct button already…Pagan

7th January 2018 at 12:50 pm #11421Causing commotion and hitting the self-destruct button says more about him in his ability to deal with challenges. Liverpool sit only 3 points behind United, JK is in 2nd proper season with the club in which he has the support of the owners to build something. That how the template should be.
So Jose doesn’t win the league, so what. Would you not then stay and try and build something?
He’s just an architect of his own downfall.

7th January 2018 at 1:03 pm #11426NB, over the same time period of Jose being a manager, how does Klopp fair up in comparison? Iโm not a Jose fan, thought he was fantastic when he first came to Chelsea, very Cloughie like, great sense of humour etc. but that has been replaced with what we have now, which is a loss to football as as a coach he is obviously fantastically talented….Pagan

7th January 2018 at 1:08 pm #11427Jim.Even if we lose. We’ll still be 15 points clear of Liverpool.
NB – Now your hopefully sober ๐ Do you stand by all the guff
you said about Pep last night ? Or was it the classic beer talking ๐I did agree with your thoughts on MP though.Absolute gentleman.
IMO all the rest sounded a bit petty?_____________________________

7th January 2018 at 1:19 pm #11431Nil, you can’t compare Klopp to Mourinho until Klopp’s won 3 PL titles as Mourinho has plus 2 CL trophies a Europa League and multiple titles in 4 different countries.
Mourinho might be a prize plum and a complete Arsenal at times but nobody can deny his ability and success as a Manager let’s also not forget that Mourinho won 2 Major trophies in his first season at United whilst Klopp got Liverpool to two Cup Finals and lost them both.

7th January 2018 at 1:29 pm #11433PPT, It’s more of a virus that’s been going on re Flu – sick to the back teeth of it as my body temperature keeps fluctuating, plus feel really exhausted quickly from doing the lightest of chores.
Read something about Australian flu somewhere that’s crept into our neck of the woods, could be that.
Nope, not fell out with Chucky! ๐

7th January 2018 at 1:32 pm #11435Nine/Pagan,
I wasn’t making a direct comparison and I could have chosen Poch as alternative. The point I was trying to make is why not change your philosophy in aiming to have more of a long-term future than the ‘lifespan’ of 3 years?
I’m very happy with Klopp and hope he is given not only his full-term, but longer.
I’m sure to my knowledge, Jose has never stayed 5 years anywhere.

7th January 2018 at 1:44 pm #11439NB, neither Jose or Pep have stayed anywhere long, but that obviously suits their managerial style. A lot is said about Jose instilling a siege mentality, well if youโve ever read any accounts of a seize, thereโs not many people that have been in one that want to be in another, as for Pep heโs another high intensity manager who probably is a perfectionist who burns out players with his style.
This style of management does get spectacular short term results, but doesnโt seem to be sustainable. Klopp seems to stay places longer, and has had some success, but not on the scale of Jose or Pep, so you pay your money and make your choice…Pagan
