Just telling a neighbour about covid and football. Staggering from an intelligent bloke. He reckoned that footballers were so fit they wouldn’t catch it.
I pointed out that at City where I know testing is rigorous (I know one of the club doctors) we have had..Laporte,Mahrez, Gundagon,Walker Jesus, Ederson and at least two others and at different times of the season testing positive.
I also pointed out other teams with positive tests.
The point I am making and what we were discussing more so in relation to rugby is that covid, if it takes hold, is almost certain to skew a season and give a misleading picture.
Whether we see the impact of that today v Chelsea who knows but missing key players never helps.
The season will carry on as normal unless more clubs are affected.

Adlab the rules are quite clear and have been in place from the start of the season a Club must play the game if they have 14 fit players including fit players outside the squad of 25.

Garcia is a red herring he’s already agreed a deal to go back to Barca at the end of the season and has hardly played this season especially in the last 10 games so him testing positive and not being available will have no impact on City for this game.

Manchester City Link Back COVID Outbreak To Carabao Cup Clash Against Arsenal: The club has identified the affair as the reason for the slew of COVID positive tests in their ranks

After initially losing out Kyle Walker and Gabriel Jesus to Coronavirus last week with both the players skipping the club’s 1-0 triumph over Southampton, things fast turned worse for Manchester City. The club confirmed on Monday that the fresh round of testing had seen five players be identified with the disease.

Subsequently, the club’s fixture against Everton on the day was postponed to become only the second Premier League clash to be called off this season due to the pandemic. And while a string of reports have emerged on what could have caused the shambolic outbreak, City are said to have traced back the roots to their Carabao Cup fixture.
