Not a criticism at all Steve. I never had a problem with Mourinho doing what he did in the big games. Absolutely no difference in what Mourinho did in the NLD to what Arsenal did tonight and against Liverpool, though.

It’s something Arsenal should have probably done more of in recent seasons when playing against the better sides.

Have to agree with Ed stevo. That’s what I saw tonight and Wednesday and no shame in it at all. It was get the lead and defend it. Concede possession and hit them in the break and it worked perfectly

They had everyone behind the ball at times and were so well drilled . They were so organized. City could have been there all night and not scored

Fantastic defensive play in the 2nd half with a great 2nd goal in the 2nd half. Haven’t seen an arsenal team fight and dig in like the last two games in years mate

Arteta is trying to make arsenal difficult to beat and better at the back

That’s a hugely impressive win tonight. It wasn’t cause city are bad. It was because arsenal were so organised abd game planned worked to a tee

Don’t think at all this alludes to Jose Mourino. Far From it. I think Football has evidently lost it’s way in Forums and the Real World, Britain and England. Teams are allowed and can Defend without some ‘lingo’ attached, European.

Good Decent Hardworking and Honest Performance distinct towards a Team that’s of High Press and effectively feeds on that area.

Steve, again, it’s not a criticism at all. Very good defensive display imo. But to say Arsenal had a threat and scored unlike Mourinho, not really sure what you mean there. Mourinho was hammered for that type of performance in the NLD and they even had 13 shots. You had 4 shots tonight. They also scored 2 so not following your point

There was no form of Bus Parking in my View. Great Heartfelt and Goodness Organically because Arsenal have known to ship goals in the past. All Understood, and Merited.

An on night for the defence which is 95% of the time shaky at best. I thought David Luiz was finished at the highest level however tonight suggested otherwise. If only Chelsea could defend as well as that against United in the 2nd Semi I’d be ecstatic and we could even find a way of knicking a goal or two and a victory.

I was most pleased for David Luiz after the pillorying he has taken, yesterday he was magnificent and especially in a back 3 he has the potential to deliver games like that.

Arsenal were well drilled and strong defensively and Arteta got his tactics spot on as it’s dangerous to go toe to toe with City .

And they had a front three who were very dangerous on the break and could hurt City. Aubemayang took his goals very well too.

Congrats Stevo I’m hoping for an all London Final now.?

I didn’t watch the NLD unfortunately so can’t comment but hasn’t heard he was accused of parking the bus and I had it on text and just seemed a bit of a nothing match for both teams

You play city or pool and any other team is going to concede massive possession and have to defend

When Maureen parks the bus he looks to not lose

We looked to win and played how we f had to

Big difference to me to choosing a defensive team and looking not to lose and selecting a much much more attacking team and defending well …..

I love a good defensive performance
Not an anti football stance that Maureen has had playing a few big clubs

Just look at United now the shackles are off

Ed. and those defeats have happened in the same manner….did not find a way through packed defence, too many off colour but no excuses from me. Arsenal set out there plan, executed it very well and won the match. Good luck to them in Final. Cannot argue with that. I do not prescribe to players being exhausted, it happens to ALL teams and ALL players but this defeat was more about players not beingright for the game.I could not pick out one City player I could excuse, that is rare nowadays, Changes next match.

They say one bite doesn’t fill a stomach, and one good game doesn’t make a whole season. yes, he was magnificent yesterday but he has been terrible throughout the season. and Arsenal would have been up there in the top four if you deduct his mistakes. the other one was the entire Arsenal team defended deep and there were no spaces for City which they usually thrive to exploit. De Bruyne was not given enough spaces, but also City missed Aguero’s movement in the box.

The other problem that is a pattern to City is that they don’t have answers when teams defend deep and deny them spaces. it’s something that cost them the league this season. and Arteta knew that well when he set up his team to counter-attack City. I think Guardiola needs to have a plan B. as for Arsenal and Arteta, if they sign one or two players and keep their current players, they will be up there in the top four next season if not challenging the league.

David Luiz is one of the heroes of Munich and will always have a unique place in Chelsea’s history and I hold him in high regard because of that he’s often brilliant with the ball at his feet but as everyone knows he does have a defensive mistake in him.

His best positions is in a back 3 he’s a terrific footballer but he occasionally lacks concentration which is often his downfall.

When Luiz is on his game though in a back 3 there are few better.

I don’t think you can put all Arsenal’s defensive frailties and the goals they’ve conceded down to him Arsenal have been frail right across the back 4 for a while and that certainly predates Luiz’s arrival at Arsenal.

I can see why they played 3 at the back with 4 midfielders. It made sense with them tracking back in line to shield City’s high pressing and quality.

Bodies were prepared to get in the way to block fierce shots. You need a bit of steel and resistance and if you can step up to make that happen successfully, then it really gives you confidence to cope.

Good old fashioned grit and determination in my eyes which is something Arsenal have lacked for many seasons.

Arsenal got the tactics spot on , defence was strong and with a dynamic front 3 were always going to be dangerous on the break. Not one of City’s best showings last night, could that be down to Arteta’s game plan or just an off day ? I kept thinking how badly they needed the departed Sane on the left .
