Mikus, nearly same thinking as me from your post 8:07.
I can understand from Pep’s position. A counter argument towards that could be that he has quality in squad depth.
All in all, I sensed once this Subject of Quadruple came into fruition, something like this bound to happen if there was to be a setback.
We could be perhaps a tad critical and I don’t think City at all should be at all hard on themselves.

It’s a semi final play your best team and best formation .City switched to 4-2-3-1 with ferdhino and Rodri who very rarely start together. Sterling is badly out of form and Mendy is not very good but let’s not take anything from Chelsea
Brilliantly well organized team and so difficult to score againest. Werner is perfect for playing againest teans that play the high line. Great play for the goal
I fancy Chelsea for a cl and fa cup double as it’s very very hard to score againest them. Excellent well drilled team and I have to say tuchel had surprised me a bit

17th April 2021 at 8:35 pm #177616Cityboy, can’t say I saw last weeks game vs Leeds, but I suspect part of Peps thinking was that he was worried about the way Leeds play from an attacking point of view. I’ve briefly read part of a biography of Pep’s Barcelona side. As I say, he has many great attributes and like many managers seems to obsess about the details. But within that I think he starts to lose his edge and can over worry.

17th April 2021 at 8:36 pm #177617TBH it wasn’t Chelsea’s best team either but they have a squad of players that are more or less on par in their own values. Think it’s Chelseas 4th final in 5 years so they due for a win having lost the last 2.

17th April 2021 at 8:49 pm #177618Tuchell has clearly made Chelsea a lot more solid and they also pose a real threat up top. And Pulisic takes them up a notch imo. Hopefully he can stay fit from their point of view.

17th April 2021 at 8:50 pm #177619Didn’t get to see the game as we’re into cricket season, happy as a Chelsea fan that Chelsea are through to the final, but as a general sports fan a little disappointed that Man City can’t now do the Quad……Pagan

17th April 2021 at 8:59 pm #177622Mikus, you may well be right, however, as a manager, once you have worked out your game plan…it is up to the players to follow it, in our case, to day we were inept, against Leeds we were Naive. Despite the outlay in Full backs we are weak in this area, Ake excluded because we have not seen enough of him and I think he is a better player than Mendy or Cancello. This being the case our CBs have to work twice as hard and it affects there game just to cover them. I believe ther will be a clear out at the end of the season and fresh faces brought in. We do need another Augerro though but I do not want Kane, Haarland or Mpaabe they would fit most teams well but not City, great players though just think we will go for somebody else, attacking midfielders more in peps style, he would rather have 3 midfielder who can score 60 goals between them I think. Time will tell, I will get over the dissapointment of this performance as soon as i have had my dinner!!!!

17th April 2021 at 9:03 pm #177623Pagan. the Quad has never been done by any team, anywhere so it is not that much a disappoint for me. The performance to day was and they need to put that right for Wednesday, the next match

17th April 2021 at 9:10 pm #177624Brian, from a general sports perspective I like to see things done that people say can’t be.
As the Arsenal fans will tell you, their ladies did the quad years ago…..Pagan

17th April 2021 at 9:16 pm #177626Brian, yes we’ve had a similar problem at Liverpool with the high line. But where City are stronger than us up top because they have a variety of strikers, wingers and midfielders who can all contribute goals. Whereas we just have our front 3 who are burdened with providing most of the goals. Also Aguero has been such a huge player for you as a striker. He turned that massive head to head game vs Liverpool in the 18/19 season. I’d still be looking to replace him if I were Pep. You can’t not have enough finishers at a club. I also think Foden will become very important for you because he’s also grown at the club. Clubs always need that natural desire and personality in the team. Enjoy your dinner!

18th April 2021 at 10:20 am #177630Mikus, yes there are similarities between the teams, I can always accept defeat well, providing the team gives its best, against Chelsea, too many were no where near there best and with one/two even the best is not good enough now. We have gained with Dias/laporte and Stones and lost with Silva and Augerro. Pep will continue with the high line, have no problem with that as long as we have players that can fit it.

18th April 2021 at 11:46 am #177632Can’t see anything but a Leicester win. Some fans will be luckily attending today so should liven up the occasion.
I think this trophy has Chelsea’s name on it.

18th April 2021 at 12:11 pm #177633Brian, I think this is the problem at a lot of clubs. You don’t always know which players will turn up, even good ones. When you bring a lot of your players from all around the world, most of the motivation inevitably has to come from the manager, which only adds to his workload. I think this tactic of pressing has partly come about because it’s almost as if you’re having to coach players to actually care. And collectively if a team is pressing, everyone is off the hook. But I just don’t think it’s sustainable in terms of energy levels and if even just a few drop off, it isn’t half as effective. I think quite a few teams now lack characters in the side that give teams a personality, players that will not just take responsibility but demonstrate natural passion and show industry to make things happen.

18th April 2021 at 12:29 pm #177634It’s a juggling act of 3-4 competitions. The pace and the style of the game has changed, though tactics could be change to suit players in what’s demanded from them week in week out.
How did for example Man United win the Treble?
Saying that though this isn’t something that’s accustomed to the Best club that can simply just go out and win everything. It takes something truly special.
These players are tired and it’s no wonder there’s been a lot of injuries.

Hope you’re right Sean I suspect even the most dedicated of Chelsea fans wouldn’t have predicted that Chelsea would be where they are now less than three months back, still a long way to go to fulfill you’re prediction but it looked just as unlikely in 2012 so here’s hoping.🤞😊

18th April 2021 at 4:39 pm #177638Feel for Fulham and Scott Parker they desperately need points and to concede a goal to Arsenal in the 97th minute is a killer for Fulham.
